Hi all,
I really need some help.
My 2.5yr old DSS isn't pooing??? He eats a varied diet, lots of fruit and veg but will only poo when we give him medication (coloxal or parachoc) which we dont want to have to keep doing.
We always give him lots of dark grape juice which always gets me going :o so i cant understand why it doesnt work on him.
I am begining to think we will have to take to the doc, but is there any thing else we can do?

Thanks!

Try giving him Paw paw, prune juice & lots of water. Try to avoid as much processed food as possible. But i'd go to gp aswell if i were you!

Hi

My 2.5 year old daughter is the same. She has been constipated on and off for the last 2 years.
We went to the gp a few times and they just said more fibre and more water but it didnt really seem to help unless we gave her parachoc aswell.
I finally got referred to a paedatrician and he has told me to keep away from certain foods (eg banana, strawberries, pasta, rice, potatoes, processed foods etc) as these will make her poo hard.
And to give her more brocolli, cauliflower, green leafy vegies, stone fruit, apple, pear etc as these will make her poo more softer.
The paedatrician has also told me to give her parachoc daily for 4-6 weeks so she is not so constipated and will not hold onto her poo.
Its been 2 weeks so far and we are getting better. I am going to see how we go for the next month and if its not any better, I am going back to the paedatrician to get her checked out properly.
