View Full Version : Midwife Managed Birthing Centre in Metro Melbourne?
Hi - does anyone know if there are any of these around? I understand there used to be one at the Royal Woman's but it is no more :(
Would be interested in finding a non-hospital environment if I can but it seems like the options are pretty limited.
Thanks all!

Mercy Hospital at Heidleberg has a Family Birth centre. You need to do a tour with them before you can book in.
The Royal Women's has a Know Your Midwife Program, where you have the same midwife for all your appointments and she also attends your birth.
And there is always homebirth!

I'm pretty sure all birth centers in Melbourne are run by hospitals, and are part of hospitals. Although they are managed by the midwives they still answer to the hospital at the end of the day. Having said that, I had a great experience at the monash birth centre.
