real odd-temping

Hi all- i was reading that temping vaginally is more accurate so i tryed it! when i do my temps i do it under my arm,anyways today i did it under my arm and go a reading of ( 35.4 ) then i did it Vaginally and got a reading of! ( 36.4 ) from when i did it under my arm to down there i didnt move at all, i was shocked that the reading was so diff! so THEN i tryed i in my mouth and got a reading of (35.0) ( no i didnt put it in my moth from down there i wiped it and stuff 1st!!!) WHY did i get 3 big diff readings? isnt that real werid. for the girls who temp witch way do thay do it, and what kinda temps do you use like where did you buy urs.

your temp can be taken either vaginally or orally (by mouth) - not under the arm :) it should be taken at the same time every morning, after at least 3 hrs solid sleep... i take mine by mouth at 6am, then if bubs not awake i just go straight back to sleep...

I test my temp orally.
I think that you are supposed to have a different temp at all different parts of your body ( but i'm no dr) but I think that the aim behind taking temps is not how hot or cold you are but how it varies through out the month so it is best to take your temp the same way everyday at the same time. for example just before af arrives I have peaked to around 37.1 and then gradually as af arrives it lowers to around 36.0 - 36.4. after a few months you will see a nice pattern set and then you will be able to notice trends and hopefully be able to estimate when you O and when and if af will arrive. or yay if you will get a BFP.... I hope I have helped... or even better given correct information... I have to go to work now....

opps forgot to say... have you got a basel body temp therometer? it should read numbers like 36.62 etc.... i got mine at the chemist....

also it doesnt matter about the temp difference, as long as you do your temp at the same time the same one (so dont do a vaginal temp today and a mouth tomorrow)

They say to keep your temping at the same time each day and in the same way. I always temp first thing each morning using a thermometer (orally). I can get some mild variability but generally the temps makes sense and helps me to pinpoint when ovulation actually occured each month (along with FF). My doctor said that it is normal that different methods will detect different temps but as long as you keep it consistent then you should be ok.

Apparantly I have heard that the thermometers that take your reading from the ears are more reliable (they are the ones that hospitals and doctors use), but they are more expensive to purchase.

I just wanted to add but I was told that if you temp orally to put the thermometer under your tounge in the same spot each time. Apparently there are heat pads under your tounge, you know near that little stretchy skin that looks like it is holding your tounge on! :p
