Hi Girls! I was just wondering if anyone can help me with some advice on getting my son into baby modelling? I have no idea (other than the yellow pages  ) where to start. Of course I dont want to get him involved with a bad agency, but how do you know the difference? Any advice will help! Thanks :)

Hi, I got my 6 month old DS into modelling at 3 months. All I did was look up different agencys on the web and researched into each of them. Some of the things to look for in an agency is:
- How many children they have in the agency?
You sort of need to know if your child will have a chance. If there is heaps of children in the books then your chances are limited.
- How many years have they been operating?
- How much experience do they have?
- How many jobs on average do they get?
-Cost of the fee?
-What type of jobs do they get?
- On average, what age groups do they seem to get more jobs for?
- How many children are there in your childs age group?

These are some of the things that I asked the agencies. Basically you need to find what would suit you and your child. I got Jayden into Bambini Models in Sydney. They are great and have limited spaces. They only have 500 children aged from 3 months to 17 years in Sydney alone. Some of the agencies I looked at had about 2000 or 3000 kids in their books. I thought to myself there is no way that Jayden would get anything with that amount of kids.
The other thing I like about Bambini Models is they only take the kids that have a chance in modelling. Some of the other agencies just take on everyone and in the end you and your child get disappointed if you dont get any jobs.
I hope some of this has helped you and if you need any more info just let me know. Let us know what you decide and how you go.

My daughter used to be on Bambini Models books when the first owner Lee McDermott who started the agency had it & when she left after 16 years last year, I was so unhappy with the new owners service, after 5 years of being on their books, i took my daughter out. They don't know what they are doing & just brush you off if you ask them any questions. They now also have too many kids on their books & when Lee owned it what I liked about it that she kept less kids in each age group.

I just found out that Lee has started her new kids & adults agency called Lees Model Management & Urban Angels kids & I have booked an appointment to sign up with her new agency. She was a former model & has always been upfront & honest with me as far as my daughters work and castings & I find this very :smiliedance:refreshing compaired to the service I have got since she left Bambini. She doesn't promise you the world & not deliver but quite the opposite. She tells you the reality of modelling, the in's & outs but also delivers the castings & jobs. I also love the fact that the agency is adults & kids as she has got both my daughter & myself work together before for the cover of a baby magazine.

I emailed her photos of my toddler and she emailed me back saying she wants to meet with her. My only worry is coming up with the $500 fee that they want. I still don't think it's fair how agencies here charge you to join when they take 20% commission. Agencies in the US don't charge and if they do, they are a scam. Who can come up with $500 for a "what if"? It's fine if she gets work and earns it back, but she might now and then it's just down the toilet.

It’s funny how you hear so many different things about agencies! I have my daughter with Bambini and I was going to take her out cause I found Lee (the old owner) to be quite rude. She was really friendly at the interview and then never wanted to speak to me again. she never returned my phone calls and was always uncontactable. Bambini is under new management and the girls are really friendly and professional. They have made some big changes, so I have decided to stay with them. There have been lots of kids agencies that have closed down or taken on heaps of kids as a scam. At least Bambini have been around a long time and my daughter gets work!:cheerleader1:

Dont go any where that asks you for a fee the only fee you should pay is around $150 and that is to get head shots done so that goes to the photographer. the agency should only get paid when you get paid!! My daughter was in a bad agency for her first year then i realized and now she is with chadwicks and there was no joining fee!! and with in her first month she got work!! be careful im not sure how to P.M but if u pm me and i figure out how to write back i can sent you a link to a list of agencies in your area :)

I was really wary of paying the joining fee, but after heaps of research and talking to my friend who works in a production company, it is common in australia for children's agencies to ask a sign up fee (it was a while ago, so now i can't remember the reason why!). Adult agencies don't ask for a fee, but most of the kids ones do. i totally agree with the agency should only get paid when your kids do!! Do Chadwicks take on kids for modelling? PS after reading the post by cutebub again, kinda sounds like it has been posted by that agency (sorry cutebub)...Hmmmmmmm
