Young Mums group for 19 years and younger

As part of a uni assignment I have to start a group. I decided to work on creating a group to help new mums aged 19 or younger.

I have thought to add some general parenting group stuff like tips on parenting, baby health and wellbeing, looking after yourself, etc. Is there anything you thing would be good to add that might be specific to young mums?

I thought perhaps some discussion about how to manage school and kids, how to access accomodation and income if required ... what do you think?

Your main challenge is getting the mums to join your group and stay. Younger mums are often worried about joining a playgroup. So you actually need to make creating a supportive environment you main priority. Perhaps having a child health nurse visit your group, or an older mum who was a teen mum. Not to talk, just listen or hold the bub.

I became a mum at 17 with twins, then again at 20 with a dd.

To handle schooling I did/do things via correspondence at home, more the ones without huge time contraints. I use nap times and nights to study. Housework gets done as I go as i wouldn't have time
Otherwise. Being organized and having routine helps keep on top
Of everything. If there is anything specific you would like to know or what me to share id be more then happy :)

This post really interests me, I am 18 years old and am 5 weeks pregnant!! I think including something not only about studying but working, I have just started a new job as I moved, and am worried that I may still be in my trial period of work when I need to tell them I'm pregnant.. I am very worried that they may take advantage of this and fire me...

Hey im 18 and DD is 11weeks. :)

I agree with youngandpregnant possibly cover work aswell as study.
