ADELAIDE MIDWIFERY STUDENTS!

I'm looking for support throughout my pregnancy and labour. I'm really desperate to find someone who is supportive, calm under pressure, willing to come to all appointments, labour with me at home for as long as possible (If I'm lucky enough to not need inducing this time!) and be with me/us during the birth at WCH. Our first baby will be 20 months old and as we are self-employed my husband will need to be at home with him most of the time so I really need a support person!!

My last pregnancy went 11 days over after 5 failed attempts at induction. My labour came on fast and furiously and after already having been in hospital for 2 full days beforehand we were both completely exhausted before it had even began :$
My 'natural birth' plan was thrown out the window pretty quickly- I never got in to the bath and I had an epidural early on. I struggled pushing for 4 hours before needing forceps to deliver my 4.14kg bubs.
I didn't click with my midwife (I was in the SMGP at Flinders) and was pleased when her 12hr shift was up and she needed to change over with another midwife. My new midwife brought with her a brilliant student who made my whole experience soooo much easier!!

I know heaps of u have left messages on here already, I've read them all, but I would like u to approach me if u feel up to the challenge :)

I have already been assigned a student but feel as though we don't 'click'. I am meeting with her at the end of august at an appt where I will decide for sure whether she's a keeper.....

I'm 13 weeks pregnant today and have put my name down for Group Practice again (fingers crossed!). I am delivering at WCH and all of my appts are on Tuesdays. I live in the western suburbs of Adelaide, am 24 and really would love a bubbly, confident, eager student!!

I am aiming for a natural birth again, have been doing lots of strength training and am about to start meditation, all in preparation for the labour.

I'm also not fussed where u are at with ur studies and although I want everything done my way :) I am willing to offer u full involvement at every stage and hope u can learn heaps from me and my pregnancy!

Hope I'm not asking too much........ If ur keen pls PM or reply.

If your just after someone to support you with a hospital birth you may prefer a doula?? Otherwise there are some wonderful independent midwives in Adelaide if you would like to take a more natural route outside the hospital system

I've opted for midwifery care through a public hospital, just after a student to accompany me along the way...

Hi there!

I realise this may be too late but I have only just noticed your post.
I am a second year midwifery student and am very familiar with WCH.
Have you found yourself a lovely mid student yet?
If not, would you be interested in meeting for a coffee to discuss things further?

I have found myself a great student, sorry. I really hope u can find urself some preggo ladies!!

It seems no one knows about u guys (middy students I mean) as everyone I talk to about it looks at me blankly...... The only Advertisment I've seen for taking on a student was on the back of the toilet door at WCH when I went for my first appt.

Anyway, that's slightly off topic :) And sorry I can't help..... So weird that as soon as I stop looking I get swamped with replies and PM, haha.

I'm so glad you've opted to have a student with you along your journey and you've found one you click with. We need more ladies like you out there!

I know what you mean in regard to the lack of knowledge/info out there about us. It's hard to get the word out there about the services mid students provide which is such a shame. We need more support from fellow midwives and the hospitals in general I think.

Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy and your birthing experience. Hope it goes much more smoothly for you this time around.
