My 18month old daughter has just been put on a asthmas management plan for prolonged sickness, wheeze, chest infections, etc. We saw a paediatrician for the first time last week after another long stint on prednisone, ventolin and antibiotics and a miserable baby. He has prescribed us SINGULAIR and NASONEX nasel spray to use in the future. Has anyone had any experience with these medications? Did they work? I will do anything to make my baby well and happy!:hugs:

My dd1 has been on singular since 18 months. Now 4 it has really helped control her asthma only side effect she has ever had was some nightmares at first but we started to give it in the morning instead of at night and the nightmares stopped.

Thanks! I'm just wondering, is she on the singulair every day or just when she gets asthma symptoms? I've been told to give it to my daughter next time she starts a cold.

My DD1, 5.5 years has been on nasonex and singulair. She was on nasonex when she was 2 years old through winter and she was the most difficult, horrible child to deal with...angry, aggressive, tantrums up to three hours long over seemingly nothing...it was a very hard, nightmare of a time. It was only when she had an asthma attack at 3 and she had steroids that it clicked that it was the steroids in the nasonex that caused her to be such a difficult 2 year old...so keep it in mind if her behaviour changes and she's extremely difficult to deal with (DD1 was so bad I went and asked for help with parenting because I had no idea what I was doing so wrong to have such an awful child).

She was prescribed singulair when she was 3 years for the winter months and we haven't had any problems with it at all. She's only needed one month's worth this year so it looks like she is growing out of her asthma :smiliedance:

Dd1 has singular at first sign of cold, if other family members have colds or if her asthma is waking her up. So pretty much all winter but we did get caught out once and she hot sick overnight and in hospital by morning. She also has broncomalicia which adds to the problems.

DS has been on both a while ago as we went through the motions of finding one that worked (he is a chronic asthmatic who now takes adult doses of preventer) I do know a lot of people who have found it really affective particularly for mild asthmatics whose asthma is triggered by mild allergy issues like hayfever
