Hi Ladies,

My DS has always had wind problems but (touch wood) he seemed to grow out of it and we haven't had much problem for about a month now.

BUT!! I have just started to introduce solids. We started with Pear for 3 days and all seemed good, then we introduced apples. . . . . he has only had it twice (at 12pm) but both nights he has woken up with what seems like wind pain again! He wakes up at about 12am-1am. Is it just a coincidence or could apples be causing this? Would it take upto 12 hours for it to have that effect? He doesn't seem to have any other issues such as rash or anything.

We are going to try again today and hope for the best but I don't ever want to go back to how he used to be as we have come soooooo far!! I want to keep this happy baby I have! lol

I have tried searching the net and a few books I have but can't seem to find anything that supports my theory. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Have you got any other foods like rice cereal you could just stick to? Maybe his digestive system is a little sensitive and your better off just waiting? Or just cut out the fruits and go with other foods and try apple later. As to it taking 12hrs, that just really depends on the metabolism, everyone is different so I'd say yeah it's probably the apple, it's high in fructose and some ppl just can't handle that.

Because he is prone to excema, the CHN suggested I steer clear of rice cereal. I am going to try some carrot tomorrow and see how he goes with that, might give the apple miss for a few more weeks and try again. Frustrating because he really seemed to enjoy it! :( At least the pear seemed ok with him.
