Not my labour of course !!!

I've still got six weeks till my EDD and I'm enjoying the relative peace of life with just The Toddler and I atm ... (he's painting the dinner room table with peanut butter right now ... )

But someone recently asked me about this and I was all set to send them to an article on our site when I realised ... we don't have one!!

SO:

What did you do to try to bring on labour ... and, most importantly, how'd it go??

And what are the main ones that people try? Castor oil, sex, long walks, raspberry leaf tea ... um, I'm at a loss now ...

thanks in advance!!

One of the tried and tested ones that Ive seen is kiwi fruit blended skin and all as a drink. And sex and lots of pinapple.
Ive also heard a curry and a beer followed by sex is a winner.... just what you feel like when youre 9 months pregnant
Given that youve still got a while to go, Id say enjoy the peace and try and rest, baby will come when its ready.... :fingerscrossed:

I tried long walks, hot curries, sex, rsaberry leaf tea, relaxation. I went to 42 weeks and suddenly it just happened. I will admit I had a really intense orgsam the night before. Maybe that did it. Who knows really. I just woke up in labour.

Walks have never worked for me:(
Dd2 I ate 2 toasted salami, tomato cheese sandwiches had a nap and as I stood up my waters broke!!!
Do not recommend this though as i brought them all back up in transition and even the thought of those sandwiches a year later would make me feel ill!!

Time ;)

Labor will start when your body and your baby are ready, trying to "bring it on" via other methods will either fail or have the potential to cause complications to your labor as your body isn't prepared yet.

Best to spend your efforts relaxing, hydrating and eating well instead of worrying about making labor come sooner.

Haha! Nope ... I'd deserve some serious finger-waggling if that was the case. Don't worry FL I'm in NO hurry!! The Toddler is such a happy little guy at the moment and I'm enjoying our one-on-one time! I'm gonna miss the little guy ... :(

Watch a really:scary movie (and no i'm not joking).

I know of a true story of a woman who was walking down the street behind a man whom was a rather fearsome fellow. He heard something as he was walking and turned around quickly .. and the woman got such a shock she went into labour and ended up miscarrying.

Sometimes shock or fear/terror can bring on labour.

Not necessarily sure its the most "orthodox" method, but it can work in some instances.

Raspberry leaf tea, great expectations tea from Bowral Tea Shop (if you are near there), clary sage oil in the bath and rub on belly. These are the main one's I did and went into labour 2 weeks early.

The night before I went into labour, my hip was hurting so I was resting on my knees and elbows, charmingly bum in the air, then the next morning my partner and I were watching a 'documentary' the Real Amityville Horror when I got a huge shock by something in it, and then started feeling contractions. 42 hours later my honey was born:)

My sister went jogging and jumping up and down the passageway at 39 weeks... (she'd had enough...) and went into labour that night...
