Well I started Clomid today :yelclap: :smiliedance:

GYN didnt really say much at all other then "Looks like its time to start you on some fertility treatment" and explained it to me, and told me to come back in 6 weeks and we'll work again from there!

Happy, but kind of confused? as I really dont understand etc etc...

That's a great start! :D
6 weeks seems like a while though? but I don't know anything about clomid so I guess the more experienced girls will help you.
Good luck with it though :fingerscrossed:

YAYYYY :smiliedance: .........but.............why 6 weeks? You're suppose to take 5 Clomid tablets then get monitored by BTs and a scan to see how everything is progressing. The bloods show your Oestrogen levels and scan shows how many follicles are developing.

Also, did he require you to do a BT before starting on Clomid?

I was also told to to go back within 5 days of taking the last clomid tablet.
What cycle days has he told you to take it? What dosage are you on?
Did he tell you what days to BD? Any scans or blood tests?
Seems very very odd.

If there is anything you dont understand, phone the clinic and ask to speak to the gyno or maybe one of ther nurses can help you.

i would definately recommend having a monitored cycle where they will do BTs and perhaps a scan (i have 1 internal scan per cycle normally just before expected O to check on a developing folicle making sure there is 1 there and only 1). I have my first blood test a few days after the last Clomid Tablet to check on Estrogen, and every 2-3 days after that (depending on results of course) up until Ovulation is confirmed to have happened. After O they did 2 more starting about a week after O and a couple of days later.

My FS does monitored cycles unless the first couple are quite standard and you O by yourself (some people need injections to trigger the release of the egg) then you can go off and do it by yourself for a couple of months.

Generally you will start on a low dose such as 50mg (1 tablet). The low does is because there is a risk of ovarian hyperstimulation which can be quite dangerous, this is where the fluid from the folicles leaks into the abdominal cavity. it is not common but does happen to varying extents. if you dont seem to O in the first cycle on 50mg there could be a few reasons, one being you dont release the egg by yourself (needing a trigger injection) and the other being you need a higher dose to make your body click into gear. this is why it is important that you get monitored.

My sister on her first dose of Clomid went to a gyno who just kept upping her doses over the months because she wasnt Oing, she didnt have any BTs or anything.... eventually she went to a FS and they were shocked to find that not only was she not monitored all the drugs had built up a staggering 40 mature folicles on her ovaries! it could have been dangerous... she was someone who needed a trigger injection to release the egg, that was her only problem! once they cleared the folicles and started from scratch she fell pregnant first go on a properly monitored cycle (with a trigger shot).

i know not everyone has monitored cycles but i really believe everyone should.
I would recommend ringing a FS or another gyno and asking if they do monitoed cycles or asking your current one about it.

Good luck anyway...! :fingerscrossed: :smiliedance:

Nicole is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT hun........... I think you need to discuss this with your GYN and if he isn't going to monitor you, go to someone who will.

Goodluck.
