My 7 month old DD has started crying constantly when she is on the lounge room floor. She will not stay on the floor at all now which means that I either have to hold her or sit her up in her highchair or bouncer. This is making it really difficult to get anything done around the house.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be and how I may be able to change it??

Thanks

Not sure what it is exactly but perhaps she likes being able to look around. She's developing fast and maybe getting bored. I would insist she does go on the floor for a litte while and ignore her crying. I'm presuming it's the whinging cry instead of the help I'm in pain cry in this instance.

My son loved his baby gyms and learnt to pull the music cord on one quite early. Could you swap some toys with friends or join the toy library to get some toys that will keep her amused whilst on the floor.

Or you could take her around the house with you in her bouncer seat.

Hope this helps.

Just a thought but it might be that she is starting to have some form of separation anxiety. Maybe you should try playing on the floor with her for a little while and leaving her for small intervals so that she will see that you will come back each time.

Is she not sitting up by herself?
When my DD couldn't sit up by herself it was hard as I was constantly having to sit with her so she didn't fall over, when she was a bit steadier I used a tri pillow to support her.
Luckily this stage didn't last for long and she was sitting on her own.
I think they just get sick of being on the floor and want a different view..ideally from your level !!
I carried three of babies around..cooking, vacuuming, etc
My 9.5month still does it occasionly mostly when she's tired or teething.
Sometimes ditraction works give them a toy they haven't seen for a while or a plastic bottle with some rice in it and...mum is just going to the toilet or whatever.
it's tough when you have to find entertainment your bub just so you can pee
Good luck belinda hope it passes soon :hugs:

Hi Belinda

My DS went through a bit of a stage like this and still does it every now and then - although now he just crawls to me, looks up and starts whinging to be picked up!! When he was younger though, he loved his jolly jumper!! I dont know if you have tried one for your DD, but it was such a life saver for me. I would put my DS in it, turn up the music and he'd bounce away, while I was free to do stuff :smiliedance: Joel has always needed to be entertained and gets bored really easily. I would just switch him to different things and take him for heaps of walks etc. in between. Its hard when they are like that, but I hope it passes for you soon. You might find when she starts crawling, that she'll be a bit happier. :hugs:

hi there, you should come join our march mamas thread. my dd is 7 months old born 5 days ater your DD. Abby is good on the floor but needs to have me in her sights at all times. is it separation anxiety do you think? ssometimes Abigail doesnt like sitting and prefers being in her exersaucer so she can jump around and be more mobile as she isnt crawling yet. Do you have one? or a bouncey? is she good on her tummy?

Hope to see you in march mamas, its in the birth groups section
