Hi :)

I just found this section, specially for Jan-Mar 2005 bubs. My sweet little bubba was born in Feb.

How many other bubs out there in this section? Maybe we can all compare notes on what they are up to developmentally and any challenges/achievements?

Awww, we have a March bubba (28th)!!
At the moment brayden is desperately trying to crawl, he'll hop on his hands and knees and rock back and forth but hasn't managed to take that first 'step', he can also get up on his hands and feet which is quite scary as he looks like his about to topple over!! He is a 'genious' at the whole rolling thing and is quite proud of himself, but hasn't mastered the art of sitting up alone yet... He can do it for a wee bit but loses his balance...
He can laugh, but doesn't do it often, because when he gets himself excited he holds his breath so nothing comes out?! And as we were talking about before he has learnt how to 'fake' cough!!!
Is that the thing you were talking about, or have I gone wayyyy off track??
(We had a lousy night last night, he woke up at 2 o'clock and basically cried/whinged/grizzled until 6.00am, I'm soooo tired and so is he, he is having his third sleep today!)

Hi,

I just stumbled upon this thread as well. Alissa is a Janurary baby (20th) so she has just turned 8 months. All i have to say is where has my tiny little baby gone, in the last week she can now sit up by herself, get down from this position and crawl forward (she only used to crawl backwards). Like your babies she used to be up on all fours and rock and push up to her hands and toes, won't be long and your babies will be on the move as well!!! She used to babble mum, bub and baa but now she can say mummy and mum to me, bubbles then blows rasberries and bub and baa baa when she wants to sing baa baa black sheep. Life is a bit harder now she is on the move, now all the house work has to get crammed into her sleep time other wise i can't do it as she takes off heading for everything that she shouldn't be touching

How are everyone elses babies going????

Best wishes Jade :)

Wow I didn't realize babies could learn to talk at such a young age!! I might have to start encouraging Brayden to say mumumumumum, dadadadadad and bububububub!!! :D

Harmony that is what i did it is amazing to watch them try to copy the movements of your mouth alissa's little chin used to go up and down until eventually she got the mum sound to come out. Now she says it no problem i am totally in awe of how much they can take in and learn. Oh thats the other thing, she finally got her first tooth on fathers day she is a bit slow in the old tooth department :D Yeah so happy to be able to chat with other mums with babies of around the same age :)

Babies are such smart little people, huh!!! I'll wait till he's in a better mood then I'll start 'teaching' him to talk!!! I love talking to other mummies with babies around the same age too! It's nice too see what I can expect!

Harmony i hope Brayden has a better night for you tonight and you both get some sleep. Its so nice to have bub hub to help unwind while they are asleep especially if you've had a long day or night.

Hey girls :)

Wow, Brayden is up on his hands and knees! Awesome!!! Andrew hasn't gotten up that far yet, I think he is a bit too solid to support his own weight like that just yet. Plus he doesn't like being on his tummy for long - every time I put him down on his belly he just rolls straight over!! Could be a looooong time before he learns to crawl!

He is quite confident at sitting up on his own though, which is awesome. I can leave him sitting up to play surrounded by toys and I have two boomerang pillows behind him to catch him in case he does fall. Sometimes when he's had enough of sitting up he just throws his hands up in the air (to say i'm done, i give up!) and just falls straight back. We have had a couple of nasty falls where he missed the pillow -have NO idea how. But gosh, the clunk his head made on the carpet!!! Luckily he has a hard head and doesnt' seem to even feel it.

He laughs a lot! Laughs his absolute head off sometimes. He has a fantastic sense of humour for such a young bub. I love it that he can laugh at something of his own accord, and not just because we are laughing as well!

He is trying so hard to talk as well....when he gets a bit upset he says mama a lot, especially if someone else is holding him and he wants to come back to me. Other than that, he has a whole language of his own that just cracks me up sometimes - talking to his toys, and his hands and toes.

No teeth as yet though, but both hubby and I didn't get them til around 10 mths, so I expect he'll probably be the same. No complaints here though cos I"m still breastfeeding! :D

It's great to hear how the other bubs are doing!!! Aren't they such clever little cookies!!

Raleigh only just fits into this category :) She was born 31st March 2005. She is such a big girl. She's now weighing around 9kg and is well and truly over 70cm tall.

She's into size 1 clothes already  . She is now sitting up for at least 5 minutes at a time until her muscles get the better of her (she puts her hands out in front of her to support herself and when her arms get tired she slowly falls forward and ends up licking the floor  )

She also now rolls around at a whim. I have watched her roll over and over on the floor. She's trying to co-ordinate her arms and legs to crawl but she gets a bit frustrated.

Raleigh has also loves her 'goop' (solids so to speak.. well they're not quite solid) but prefers savoury to sweet. Two teeth have erupted and 2 more (top ones) are on the way in.

Hi. Max is a January boy, he's 8 months now. He's doing well in the language department, loves a chat.... ba ba ba da da raspberry ma ma da da etc. He's not crawling yet, but not too far off it I'd say. He can feed himself finger foods quite well now too.

Hello, what a great thread. :)
My little one is a february baby. The last month or so she has mastered the art of rolling and goes from one side of the room to the other. She found the DVD player the other day and tried to press the buttons  ,she's going to keep me on my toes!
No teeth yet, though the signs of teething are there,so maybe not much longer.
She has also started sleeping thru the night, goes to bed at 7.30pm and wakes up around 6.30ish,which is heaven!
She's quite petite,(only weighs 6.7kgs) still fits into some brands of 000,though now is eating more solids so we'll be filling out the 00 in no time.
Today she sat up by herself for about 10 seconds so thats coming along well too.
She's a happy little bub,and I am just so glad she's mine!!

Hi all! It will be great to chat to others who have bubs of a similar age. Sienna is six and a half months and is generally a happy bubbly little girl bit for the past few days has become my little "monster". I am suddenly very afraid that she has inherited my whinging gene :o ( Hubby prays that she hasn't poor man!!!)

Don't you just love the face that bubs pull when they are trying a new food for the first time? Sienna does this funny grimace and has a cute little shudder that goes along with it. She has me in stitches every time :D Still waiting for her to roll over, but I guess I should make the most of her not being very mobile as soon enough she will be getting into all sorts of mischief.

Update: Only a few hours after saying that she couldn't roll over, Sienna rolled for the first time!! Yay!! Needless to say I was very excited.

Chat soon,

Oh well, just wanted to share some exciting news, dum dum dum daaaa, Brayden can put his dummy in his mouth all on his own, awwww.... Bet you thought I was gonna says his crawling, well not quite, he can now bring a knee forward but doesn't know what to do with his arms so he just fall forward, oh well, maybe in the next few weeks.... :D

Hi everyone, it's been fun reading how all your babies are going. Spencer was born in January. He's sitting up well by himself but hasn't mastered crawling. He sort of flails about on his tummy and tries to drag himself forward. He loves to be held so that he can stand. He'd do it for hours if I had the patience and the muscles. No teeth yet and no sign of any. No talking, just lots of feral baby noises. He waves and is trying very hard to clap. Not sleeping through yet - we've been through a bad sleeping patch but it's getting better. It's amazing watching babies learn and grow, isn't it. It seems that they do these quantuum leaps over night and go from not doing one thing, to doing that one thing and several other things as well (if that makes sense).

Oh I love reading all these stories!! Sort of like an online mothers group :)

My little man is standing up alll the time. He will cry sitting, lying, being held....but help him to stand up and he's full of sunshine! We spend quite a bit of time with me sitting on the couch holding his fingers up so he stands in front of me.

Oh, he said Mum this morning!! It was so exciting. I have been saying 'mumumumumum' to him for a few weeks and this morning we were changing him and he just said mum! Luckily hubby was there to verify so i didnt' feel like i imagined it! He said it yesterday at the shops too and i thought it was a bit fluky, but obviously not! Its sooo exciting!

I agree, it is SO amazing to watch them learn a new trick! The last fortnight has been completely bizarre, he has really leaped forward so much. Its wonderful to watch him grow up, but at the same time, I really miss my little baby!

Lol - My DH didn't really cotton on to whole concept of 'teaching' them your word of choice - obviously I am gunning for Mum, but hubby has just been saying 'mumumum' as well!! And i keep saying you have to teach him 'dadada' so he will learn who is mum and who is dad.

Honestly, men....! :D

Hi again. Thanks for the congrats :) I've been trying to get Sienna to roll over again so that she can show daddy, but so far no luck, poor dadda.

Harmony83, maybe Brayden can give Sienna some lessons with putting the dummy back in, that would be handy! She loves taking her dummy out and inspecting it very closely but has only once or twice been able to get it back into her mouth.

Anyone still wrapping, I am! :o I think Sienna is addicted. Any suggestions on how to slowly wean her off this.

Went shopping today and dh began talking to the sales lady about a toddler seat for our pram. (I'm not pregnant). The sales lady looked at me and then at my tummy saying "you're not pregnant are you?" I replied "NO". "No I didn't think so" answered the sales lady. I'm sure that she was just being polite, I'm still struggling to shift that tyre around my middle ;) Hubby was excited about the toddler seat, I think that he can't wait to have another little one.

Anyway chat soon, hope everyone had a great weekend.

Hello everyone,

Dee Dee, alissa hit 3 months and decided that she didn't want to be wrapped anymore, she would'nt even stay under her blanket during the night so she sleeps in her little purple sleeping bag thing. I know my fiance (and I) would love to another baby but we are about to move in with his mum and i don't think she would be to impressed. So we will try to wait 3-4 years. Alissa is gonna be full on so i don't won't to risk being really sick during pregnancy again.

Nicole i hear ya DF always says mumummum to alissa and i'm you have to say daddad so she learns the difference. She now calls DF bob (his name is tim), she just hasn't got the hang of the d sound yet.

Jacqui, i'm sure out of the blue one day spencer will say mum (probably when no one else is around) that always seems to happen.

Harmony, oohh sounds like Brayden is close to crawling and it's so good when they can put their dummies back in them selves. Go those developing motor skills.

Alissa is teething again with her second tooth, which means she is grizzly and crying and unsettled  . She also has the tendency to wake up early in the morning bout 4:30 - 5:00 also  this morning she woke at 5 in which i say to tim, (still very much asleep) "i think she needs her nappy changed and i'm not doing it". Poor ol timmy got up and changed her. Bless his heart :)

Oh well i'm trying not to think about the dinner dishes waiting for me in the sink, hope that i didn't forget to reply to anyone my appologies if i did.

Chat soon, Jade.

Hi girls
Well,Im pleased to report that DD is now sitting up all by herself!
She's quite pleased with herself and so I am :D Only a few days ago she could only manage to sit for about 10 seconds, now it's any chance she can get.How quickly they change.
DD has also started to say mum and dad sounds,it's very cute to hear.
Dee Dee,yes we are still wrapping.I tried leaving one arm out the other day,but DD was too unsettled so I think I'll leave it a while before we stop wrapping.
A few of you have mentioned that your bubs are trying to crawl...any success yet?

we gave up wrapping about a month or so ago. i started by not re-wrapping after night feeds and then by not wrapping at all at night. Then Spencer decided he liked the freedom so much he started fighting being wrapped during the day. Now he doesn't like anything at all on him. he kicks off sheets and bunny rugs. luckily it's still warm here in hanoi.

how is everyone going with sleeping and settling? spencer is still getting one feed at night and i'd love to get him to give it up. any ideas?

Hello peoples, how are all the mums and bubs going.

Yay to little Andrew saying mum, how exciting!! I am trying to teach Brayden to say mum to but I think he'll say dada first, he's starting to do 'baby babble' and his going through his 'a' sounds!

And another yay to Butterfly and DD, sitting up on her own, Braydens not quite there yet he gets a bit wobbley and falls...

He is so almost crawling his still doing the whole rocking on all fours, and standing on hands and feet... He can move his back feet, but can't co ordinate the hands yet...

His happy more than not now (does that make sense) his always wearing his cheeky little grin - so cute. Gotta love em'....

Had a gross pooey moment today, Brayden was having his nudie rudie play, and he did a poo, but I was so ingrossed in bubhub I didn't notice (bad bad mummy, but it was only like 30 secs!) Anyway when I did look he had poo all over his tummy, up his legs, all over his naked mat, so I picked him up to take him to his room, but of course he hadn't finished so he pooped all up the hall, while Im carrying him at arms length. And we all know what changing babies is like, he was kicking poo all over me, so I had it all ova my shirt up my arms! And he was smiling and giggling the whole time, cheeky little bugger!

Max loved to be wrapped, but I read somewhere it's bad for them once they can roll over. So we stopped about a month ago (just like you Spencersmum!) and he adjusted really quickly. He actually sleeps better now. Recently he's started sleeping through most nights (yes, yes, yes!!!!) which is great for all of us.

We put him in a cardboard box yesterday and he LOVES it. I put a beanbag behind him so he can't tip it over (he is still rocking like crazy) but it's like he's in his own little world. Hehe...now I can look at bubhub while he plays in the box. :D

He still doesn't get the idea of hands and knees, but we're persisting with lots of tummy time. He just puts his arms back and waves his arms like he's skydiving. Oh well, I'm sure he'll be mobile soon enough.

27-09-2005, 06:10
Oh Harmony thats classic!!! The mental images.... :D

Our sleeping/settling is going pretty well. We stopped wrapping at about 3 months (I think) cos he was such a wriggly worm. He just got tucked in well with sheets and blankets. These days he kicks out of those too, so I am doing a bit of a modified wrap, where i just tuck the sides of the sheet under his body, but with his arms free. SO he has to wriggle a LOT to get out of that sheet!

He's so easy to put to bed at night. Solids, bath, b/feed and then straight to bed. He just gets tucked in, turn on the music and he konks out. He sleeps through more often than not these days, although the last 2 nights he got up at midnight for no apparent reason. Popped the dummy back in and all was fine.

His day sleeps are a bit erratic, but they always were. I just go with the flow and wait til he's tired.

I think he's starting to get the idea with crawling - yesterday he was on his belly and thrusting his knees up and trying to project himself forwards. He loves walking though - he stands up holding on to our hands and then we walk with him and he takes his steps all on his own. I guess he just cant wait to be fully mobile - he wants to do it all! Then I'll have my work cut out for me.... I still haven't babyproofed! But we are moving in a month, so I"m hoping he doesn't get mobile before then!

My little ones an angel to put to bed at night too, he goes in awake, then we don't hear from him again until between 3 and if I am really, really lucky 6...
We are still wrapping him, although I was thinking about not doing it for his night sleeps, I'm a little worried as I don't want to mess it around though?!? Sleeps through the day are roughly around the same time, but he can be very erratic (sp?) also, we don't really have a set routine, although I have been desperately trying to put him in one for a couple of weeks, no luck *sigh*..... Oneday maybe...

Well, for the last 5 nights my little bubble has slept RIGHT THROUGH. I'm gobsmacked. Its amazing :) She's been wanting more and more solids so I've been feeding her and she's been settling so well at night.

Raleigh has also come up with her new noise of the moment. She has discovered that she can blow raspberries. I think her first word isn't going to be either mum or dad it'll probably end up being something obscure like kitty or hello :)

ahhh, the holy grail - sleeping through. spencer is slowing getting better at night. he now wakes for a feed between midnight and 1am - which i know he doesn't really need - and wakes again between 3-4am. i really don't want to feed him again until his breakfast feed at 5.30am. the night before last he woke at 3.30am and carried on til 5am before I fed him back to sleep, and then last night he woke at 3am and whinged until 3.30am and fell back to sleep by himself. hopefully he'll realise that i'm not feeding him again until 5.30am. next week my dp goes away for work so i'll work with spencer on dropping the midnight feed. fingers crossed for some more improvement.

hey, madvoice, good news on the reaspberries. i've been trying to get spencer to blow them. he watches my mouth and tries to get his mouth to do the same thing but he hasn't quite worked it all out.

and cathy, like max, spencer is also doing the skydiving thing!!

Hi there :)

Andrew is a master babbler - he talks to anyone and anything. I gave him my 20 year old cabbage patch doll yesterday (long story short - he likes to pull my hair, so i gave him my precious jodie jane so he could pull her hair instead!!) and he picked her up and looked at her face quite intently and started babbling away. I think he got confused eventually when she didn't say anything back! It was so funny to watch.

I love hearing his special language - I wonder what he is really trying to say! Sometimes he is trying soooo hard to say something and it comes out as a bit of a splutter and he just keeps on trying and trying....

What clever little bubbas we have :D

hi guys,

I have meaning meaning to join this thread since I noticed it had started but keep forgetting! I've just read all your posts (very amusing!!) but by the time I got to the end I'd lost track of who was doing what. From noew on I'll try to keep myself updated! Anyway, Zack will be 8 months on 9/10 and he is growing uo so fast! His favourite sound at the moment is bababababa (i like to pretend he is actually saying bub bub bub) or ararararar - my little pirate :) In the last few days he has really started moving around the floor commando style. He is also up on all fours all the time - can move legs forward, then one hand, then plonk! This is all great, but given that I am in the middle of packing and havn't babyproofed yet I'm very thankful he isn't a speed demon...yet! He has just discovered he has a tongue and spends most of the day showing it to me - very cute. He has four little chompers which are great for devouring all those yummy lumpy vegies, not to mention the dry cat food he dived his hand into yesterday :o Well I better stop bragging now....I just couldn't resist!! It's great to hear what other bubs are doing - you all have so many funny & cute stories! I did notice a few of you seem to have early risers.... so glad I'm not the only one :D

Harmony83
30-09-2005, 12:05
Braydens just starting to master the whole baby babble thing, his fave phrases/words are yayayayayaya, babababababa, and dadadadadada!! Only babbles they aren't actually words though! And he does it at the top of his lungs, his a very loud little chuppa chup indead!!! He also loves to yell at the top of his lungs - very cute...
He is a huge pain in the bum to put to bed at daytime, instead of sleeping he gets up and starts moving all over the bed so I have to keep coming in and re-wraping and re-settling - very fustrating, I end up taking him out to play a bit more, then its back to bed, then his moving all over the place again, if anyone has any suggestions???
Uummmm, oh I am already getting very very excited about his first christmas - I feel like a little kid again!!!
Okay gonna 'try' put the little rascal to sleep AGAIN!!!

Talk about early risers....Andrew for most of his short life has risen at 6am or thereabouts. For the last 3 days he has decided that 5am or even perhaps 4.45am is a LOVELY time to wake up.

*sigh*

THe first two days I fought it, today I just took a deep breath and got out of bed a that ridiculous hour.

Soooo hoping it isn't going to be a habit, I'm not a fan of being up that early. Especially when hubby stays warm in bed.... grrrr

Oh and I discovered something ESPECIALLY lovely about solids today too. Bub had his first dose of broccoli last night..... And today has been stinky poo hell.... Honestly I can smell it from another room... Soooo not nice....

Yep me again....Brayden is a early riser to normaly 6.00 - 6.30 (if lucky), but same as you Nicole for the last 3 days has been awake about 5.00 yuk... I give him a feed and try put him back to bed but he ends up playing in there for about an hour!! Will they ever sleep until a decent hour, I would love for a 7.30 start,,, :o

30-09-2005, 14:35
Spencer's an early riser too. If he's had a good sleep, it's all systems go at 5.30am. if he's been unsettled during the night, he'll wake up at 5.30am for his breakfast breastfeed and then go back to sleep for another hour or so...thank goodness.

Nicole79, Spencer has started settling himself to sleep by lying on his side. They look gorgeous on their side. He rolls on his side and babbles to himself and his dummy, falls asleep and eventually rolls back onto his back.

Hello all, bout time I joined in. My bub is nearly 7 months old (time has FLOWN).

Jack has also started sleeping curled on his side, he seems to sleep better like this and for longer- yay!

Like most of you my day starts early 5.30am so I find myself in bed by 8.00-8.30pm (do you guys stay up or go to bed?) Sometimes I feel selfish going to bed leaving hubby on the couch but if I dont I just get SO tired. We're in NSW and I think daylight saving will help out- my day my start at 6.30am. It is VERY VERY light here at 5.30am and he just does not want to go back to sleep.

No crawling here, but alot of pulling up and launching himself face first into his little couch. He really wants to stand by himself and often rolls his way across rooms. I come in and find him under the couch finding all sorts of yummy things

No teeth- should I expect some soon, how old were your bubs when they got first tooth?

I know every stage is gorgeous but this stage is just so much fun- heaps more interactive, the laughing is just hilarious!

Look forward to sharing and hearing about your bubs as they learn and discover things!

Hi all, good to see some new faces here.
I agree with Amy this is such a fun age. Sienna cut her second tooth the other day and has been a bit whingy, but hopefully things will go back to normal soon.
Her latest trick is to blow raspberries while she has a mouth full of food- this gets a great reaction from whoever is feeding her, which I'm sure is why she keeps repeating it over and over :D I think I need to invest in a rain coat to wear while I am feeding her as I end up with just as much food on myself as she does.
Yep I have an early riser here too yay!!!!!! If anyone has any secrets to share on how to get bub to sleep longer I'm sure we would all be grateful.

Till next time,
dee dee

Hi all,

He,He, i love the rain coat idea alissa used to do that to. Her second tooth has cut through today yippee hopefully she will go back to her happy settled self again. Moving interstate again in 12 days and packing is near impossible with alissa crawling everywhere. I can't wait to have a baby proof house for her to crawl round in so i don't have to be picking her up and moving her away from all the things she shouldn't be touching. I feel so bad as we have floating floor (no carpet) and her little legs are bruising, i hate that she could be in pain.

I to am looking forward to our first christmas with alissa, it is so exciting. Aaaahhh i'm 23 in 18 days gee that sounds oldish. I can't believe that alissa is 1 in like four months when did that happen??? Anyone else feel like that this first year has gone really quickly??

I just want to say that we are all doing a great job with our little ones!!! Go us!!! :D

Well, my little Bubble had her 6 month needles today. Boy did that put a spanner in the works. She has been grumpy for most of the evening and now I'm glad that she's just started to settle down.

According to age she's met her milestones and is generally a very happy healthy baby. I'm also glad that her weight gain has slowed down somewhat. She's now 8.5kg and 70cm tall. I think she's going to be a boof head like her parents. She has a head circumference of 44cm. At least I'll be able to buy a riding helmet to fit her when she's old enough. I just hope she's interested in horses like her parents :)

Isn't this a wonderful age. I'm really enjoying Max's personality and the thrill he has when he 'gets' something. He loves clapping at the moment, and raspberries are a big hit. He also thinks making deep growly cough type noises is hilarious, although it makes him sound like he's about to throw up!

He loves dancing too... we dance around the loungeroom to music and he beams. I had his hand out like ballroom dancers today, waltzing around the loungeroom, and he was in heaven. So cute.

Hey, Cathy, Max looks like he's growing his hair back quickly :) I'm loving this age too. Spencer is so responsive and aware of what's going on around him. He can be such a starebear in public. I'm dying for him to do raspberries - hopefully not when his mouth is full of food. Knowing him and his love of food, he probably won't want to waste a mouthful.

It's amazing the responsiveness that babies have to music. Spencer will always look at the telly when there's music playing. Are your babies showing any particular tastes in music?

I have to agree,I'm absolutley loving this age!
I can't believe how quickly bub changes though. This week DD has come up with a new laugh,it's very cute, sort of a hahahahaharrrrrrr.Adorable. :D
Spencersmum, my DD is the same, any music on tv or any of her musical toys, she starts bopping away.Though I've noticed she really likes the Neighbours theme song, her head whips right around at the sound of it, and she likes watching the credits too! She doesn't watch any others, just the Neighbours ones for some reason.

Hi Spencersmum - yes, it's growing back really well. He doesn't look like a thug any more  I'm sure Spencer will be blowing raspberries very soon and he will be so chuffed with himself.

I burned a cd of nursery rhymes for Max and he's not that interested. He gets much more excited about the curash ad, and he likes the neighbours theme too. (Yes, I'm a neighbours fan so he's heard that song since he was first conceived)

Yesterday I had the country music channel on tv (not that I'm huge on country music, but it's predictable - no thrashy tunes) and I was strumming along on my guitar. Max has a little ukelale he was playing with too, and he started grinning and clapping. Oh it was adorable. I think he's got the music in him :D

He lights up like a christmas tree when I play the piano too.

Speaking of Christmas, what is everyone doing this year to make it special? How will you stop little fingers from pulling over the tree? I thought I'd start playing carols soon, so he can get to know the songs by Christmas.

Ahh yes, the xmas tree! I was thinking about that the other day. Ours is a smallish fake one (due to small flat and curious cat in pre bub days) so I'm thinking about putting it up on the dining table (which we barely use, sadly we eat in front of the tv :o ) or I just had a thought about having it outside?? We have an undercover area so maybe that could work. Given melbournes unpredictable weather, probably not. My mum suggested decorating and putting it up while bub is in bed, she did and we never went near it apparently. Are you guys all planning on doing the whole santa thing?? I am and I can't wait :D

The last two days Zack has been putting one hand on his head as if to say 'oh dear' - very cute and we think he has waved once, though it could have been a fluke!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We are loving the weather (in melb)!

Yep,we are definitley doing the whole xmas thing with DD,and being her first xmas,I can't wait!
We'll probably start by getting her photo done with Santa, and play the carols too.
I have no idea how I'm going to keep the xmas tree in one piece, she is already pulling at everything in sight now,I hate to think what will happen when she starts crawling!

Thats so funny! Brianna is the same! When either that ad or the neighbours theme song comes on she stops whatever she's doing and dances! LOL! ;)

I cant wait for Christmas to come! As our children get older I want to do a stocking for them at Chrissie. When do you start that? Do you start now or wait until they are older?
Ive been worrying about the Chrissie tree too - how do you stop them from pulling the deccies off - is it an impossible senario to want an intact tree? LOL!

Its such an incredible age they are at. I think Brianna does something new every day! How amazing! :D

Oh and I love the photo with santa idea - definately doing that one!

We haven't got Neighbours on cable over here but we have got the simpsons and spencer loves the simpsons - both the music and the animation. we've channel v the music channel here and i love holding spencer and dancing to whatever is playing. he loves it. i've given him a cheap plastic keyboard to play with but he's more interested in flipping it over and playing with the door to where the batteries are. musical?? perhaps not. :D

christmas should be fun. this year we're having lunch with my folks and spencer is the only grandchild. guess who is going to be spoiled rotten??

Can't wait till chrissie!!! We'll definately be doing the photo with Santa!! I can't wait to see him 'unwrap' pressies (or playing with the paper!). Even though he'll only be about 8 months we'll be taking him to see everyone Xmas lights - he loves looking at lights!!! Looks like plenty of photos coming up!!

He is now sought of holding his bottle when feeding, but towards the end of the bottle he'll play with it, by taking it in and out of his mouth!! His so clever! Somedays when he is feeling really independant he'll snatch the bottle out of my hand to do it himself!
We took the plunge and went swimming yesterday! He was a little scared at first, but after watching all the other kiddies splashing around he decided it was his turn, he was splashing water and kicking water, laughing, it was so cute. We had one of those floaties we bought from clark rubber that they sit in and he loved it! Can't wait to go again!!
Anyway cheers

Hi guys,

Just wondering how much all our little bub's are eating?? We had morning tea for the first time today which caught me unawares as I wasn't really expecting that yet! Don't think it will happen everyday, though he might surprise me. The last few days he is eating more than usual and I'm starting to get stumped for ideas! This is what he normally eats...

breaky - baby porridge + whole piece of fruit
lunch - whole piece of fruit + yoghurt (3 heaped teaspoons)
dinner - mashed vegies - sometimes with pasta or tuna
morning tea today was blueberries and a toast finger with melted cheese

More often than not he needs more at lunch time so will also have
-1/4-1/2 piece of fruit - today it was another whole piece!
-extra yoghurt
-piece of bread

I guess what I'm struggling with is what to give him in addition to his normal lunch (this is when he always wants more!). I think 2 pieces of fruit a day is enough and i also think the amount of yoghurt he has is enough too. So, i need some ideas of what else I can give. (he is almost 8 months old) Does anyone have any ideas??

Was going to put this one of the food forums but thought I'd like to hear from you guys about it!

Hi there!! :D
Brianna has these things for solid meals (in addition to milk feeds):
Brekkie - rice cereal and fruit. Drink of water.
Lunch - Either a big bowl of yoghurt, or fruit, occasionally some custard. Drink of water.
Dinner - Steamed mashed (but a bit chunky) vegies, and either rice or pasta, and sometimes beans. Drink of water.
Usually she has finger food around morning tea and afternoon tea time. I give her all sorts of stuff like, quatered apple, chopped banana, pasta, watermelon, rockmelon, grated cheese, toast. She'll also have a nibble on whatever I eat through the day. (just a taste really)
Sometimes I'll freeze some yoghurt for her and she'll have that for afternoon tea. (good on the gums - soothing)
Hope that helps... :)

DS has 4 bottles a day plus the following solids:

Brekky - 2 tbls Rice cereal/multigrain baby cereal + 2 cubes of fruit
Lunch - Pureed fruit/vege or Toastie fingers or baby yoghurt
Dinner - 3 cubes of pureed vegies + pureed chicken

Alot of the time though he will sleep through his lunch and miss out as its to close to dinner, so we'll have to try work on some kind of routine!

I dont really keep a tab on how many bottles Jack has but offer them when he lets me know he wants them. I guess it would be about 4/5 bottles between 100-150mls a bottle.

Solids is a breakfast, 2 tablespoons fruit plus 2 tablespoon yoghurt.

Dinner 2 tablespoon savoury 2 tablespoon fruit.

He isnt really interested in lunch, if he has it then dinner is hardly anything so I am holding off on lunch till he wants it.

Fingerfood....bit of toast or a rusk and thats about it.

He really isnt a big eater or drinker and is a tall skinny fella but he fills those nappies so i am happy!

I havent been able to feed him a bottle for ages, he will only drink it if he does it himself since about 5 1/2 months. Very independant little one.

I start swimming lessons next week, has anyone done these- its called ducks and its for 6 month olds? Curious as to what we will be doing!

Hi all,

Spencer's loving his food - altho he's gone off bananas which is really annoying coz they are so convenient. He has three breastfeeds a day and one at night.

Breakfast - rice cereal and 1/2 to 1 tub of yoghurt
Lunch - mashed vegies or stewed fruit or egg yolk and toast soldiers
Dinner - mashed vegies with or without pasta or mashed baked beans or tuna and pasta

He's not as hungry at lunch as he is at breakfast and dinner, and he doesn't really needs snacks but if he does or is extra hungry after eating, I give him cheese or toast. Some friends brought over rusks for me and he's been getting into those too.

I coaxed him into a pool recently and he loved it. It's fantastic watching them kick their legs and have fun.

Thanks guys on the food front. I have such a little piglet on my hands :D Think I'll just keep trying different finger foods...the toast today was a hit and I made custard tonite so I'll see how that goes tomorrow. I can't wait to get DS into the pool! I know there is probably already a thread on this but does anyone know what is a safe age to take them to a public pool? I have heard so many different things and given that we don't immunise I feel I need to be extra careful iykwim. I really want to take him to bub classes, but was going to wait till the weather is warmer. I'm getting eager though so might start soon......so not looking forward to wearing bathers in public! lol!

No teeth for Andrew yet either. Tho hubby and I were late teethers, so not really expecting to see any for awhile! Plus Andrew is already rather keen on biting the booby so I could certainly deal with him remaining toothless for a good while yet!

Off topic, but my teeth hurt like heck today. I ate some rather hard minties this morning and now I'm paying for it. Oh, to go back to being a kid and look after my teeth and go to the dentist more often in my adulthood *sigh*

Is anyone else going through the clingy bub stage? Andrew is just not keen to amuse himself this week. Any other time he has been great at playing independently and quite happy to be on his little baby couch. This week he just wants to be held, or wants me to help him walk around. No middle ground. Its absolutely exhausting!! He must be nearly 10kgs and my poor back is ready to pack it in...

I gave him his first piece of vegemite toast this morning - went down a treat. Well, not really down, it got sucked into oblivion mostly. But he really enjoyed it. It was funny to watch, but at the same time, got a bit teary - my little boy is growing up so fast.

Not sure about that one. I would be very careful - all sorts of nasties floating around in public pools!

Spencersmum - Brianna has just had her first 2 bottom teeth come through. I think she's working on more at the moment too. They are so cute!! They all get them at different times though - so Im not worried. I have a friend with a baby who's 8 months old and he has 8 teeth and his molars are coming though!

Nicole - Sorry to hear about your toothaches! There's nothing worse. Brianna has had some really clingy days too. They seem to come and go though.

Good morning, everyone.

Nicole - Spencer has always prefered climbing all over me to playing by himself. It's exhausting, isn't it. I have a friend whose 10 month old daughter happily plays by herself and amuses herself for ages. I wish!

Briannabear - I don't know about safe ages for pools either. Spencer had his first swim in a pool recently but we were at a beach resort and the pool was very clean. He had a ball. I'll do a google search on the issue and see what i can find.

Spencer is trying very hard to clap at the moment. He opens his arms wide and brings his hands together and then shakes his hands up and down. Very cute.

We took DS on his first swim at the local swimming pool his just over 6months (but his vaccinated) so I'm not sure about your little tike... He had a ball though, it was so much fun, he was terrified at first but soon didn't want to stop splashing!! It was so cute - can't wait to go again!!!
We don't have any teeth at the mo! But he has been whingy as anything lately so I dont think theyd be too far off! Wish theyd come through and be over with!
Spencersmum - Braydens the same he can't amuse himself for long, so he wears me out having to play with him! I get a little jealous when we hang out with other mums and bubs and their little one can amuse themselves for ages and ages - oh well even more bonding time!! We should be bonded for life!!

Good morning, everyone. Had to share this breakthrough with you. Not to bore you with the details but Spencer's sleeping at night has always been pretty bad - lots of waking up and crying etc etc. While my DP has been away this week, I've really been working with Spencer on improving his night sleeping. Last night, he slept from 7pm to 3.30am with only a small blip at midnight!!! Fingers crossed that this continues!

Hey, thats awesome! Hopefully he has gotten the knack and will soon be sleeping through for you :)

Not sure about you, but I find it easier to focus on creating/changing a routine when hubby is absent :o Not sure why. But it just seems to work for me, maybe cos there is no distraction from the goal? Hmm...

My bubba has turned a page on sleeping this week unfortunately. For the last few weeks he has had two x 1.5hr sleeps during the day. They have this week turned into 3 x 0.5hr naps. Not good at all! Specially seeing as this week is the week I have to finish the packing cos we are moving on Saturday! I think he is determined to make it as difficult as possible!

He has sort of gone off his solids the last few days as well. And is waking up more at night. I have the sneaking suspicion he might be getting a tooth, that might explain the sudden about turn of sleep and feed patterns. Fingers crossed anyway, it'd be nice to see something to know for sure instead of guessing!

Nicole, do you think he might have picked up the packing and moving vibe? He might be unsettled by the activity. Either way, I hope your move goes smoothly and that Andrew's sleeping and eating gets back to normal soon.

Yes, I agree with you - working on the sleep issues is so much easier when my DP is not about. One reason is because (due to the configuration of the houswe we're renting) the cot is in our bedroom and the other reason is that I can focus solely on Spencer.

Max has two little choppers down the bottom now. Glad I have just weaned him - they're super sharp! He's still struggling with the crawling idea, but dh has been letting him stand up on the couch, leaning back against the cushion. He does this for ages and claps and thinks he's so good. I have a suspision that he's not going to crawl at all. Time will tell.

I'm going to have to be very strict with myself this christmas. I've seen so many things I'd love to give to Max, but our budget is tight and I know he would be happy with a piece of cardboard, so I'll have to restrain myself. How hard will that be!! Actually his favourite toy at the moment is the piece of cardboard that you take out of the tissue box to open it. Weird child. I gave him a photo of himself which he loves too, except I found him trying to suck it........ ew. Oh well, I'm sure he'll be eating worse things soon.

Hey Jacqui, sounds like Spencer may have turned a sleeping corner. Fingers crossed he keeps it up.

So how are all our little ones going!!!
Brayden is going really well on his solids, he has been having 3 a day for about week now, and absolutely lurves yoghurt!! I think he may have an allergy to egg though, as both times I have given it to him, he has been vomitey and cranky afterwards, I might try him when he's older and see how we go.

He is really starting to freak me out with his new trick, he gets into crawly position then gets to sitting position (just not straight) but it looks like his going to topple over backwards, so I am constantly racing after him with pillows, maybe I should just leave him he hasn't fallen back yet - what are your experiences??

He is so close to crawling, he gets on his hands and knees takes to crawls/steps then lies on his tummy and gets back up and does it again - thats pretty much how he gets around now, if he wasn't lying down between 'crawls' I'd probably be chasing him everywhere!!! I have decided I am in no hurry for him to officially crawl - he is exhausting enough!!!

He got his first early chrissie pressie from the outlaws (nah they aint' bad!) a remote control car??? Daddy likes to play with it and Brayden tries to catch it... So cute!!!

Anyway let me know how your beautiful little ones are going!!! :D

Hi there my little boy is 9mnths. He was born 2nd Jan 05 and is soooo smart. I named him Sheldon. He has been crawling since he was 6 1/2mnths, rolling over since 8wks, just started sitting up, Stands up holding onto something, (loves doing that), says dada (6mnths) and recently learnt buba. Still waiting for him to say mum. He sleeps through all night, has done so from a young age. He loves feeding himself the bottle and milk arrowrote biscuits.

Hi everyone :)

I've been a bit off the radar since the move - Andrew has been really unsettled at night time (unfortunately - he WAS sleeping through the night before we moved) so during the day I am crashing out on the couch while he sleeps. I am like the walking dead!

His day sleeps are fine, but night time we are up and down and up and down. Last night I dragged him into bed with me and co-slept successfully for the first time ever. It was really lovely, but not something I want to do all the time. Night time is the only time I get to myself so I dont' want to lose that!

The move went well all in all. We are only here for 2 months and then we are moving again. Its a bit sad, I feel sorry for Andrew. My 19yr old brother is living with us at the moment and Andrew is loving having someone else around to look at and play with. I think he's really gonna miss him when we move for real. I will definitely have to start going to a playgroup I think.

I think Andrew might be teething as well, its hard to tell. Nothing to see yet but he seems to have a sore mouth and is constantly chomping on his fingers and anything else that comes to hand. He is chewing on those breadstick rusks like there is no tomorrow! Hopefully we see a tooth soon and I can breathe a sigh of relief that these sleepless nights were not in vain!

Anyway he is asleep now so think I might go have some me time and curl up on the couch with a book and some choccie :D

Hope all the other bubs and mums are doing well!!!

Hello Nicole79, how is Andrew settling at night now? I know how you feel Brayden, has for the past 2 weeks been waking up at night at least 4 times (not for a feed) but to be re-wrapped and re-settled and I'm struggling to keep my eyes open, I think I'll invest in some toothpicks ;) !! He is a bit of a pain in the bum at the moment, he basically grizzles all day, and is only happy between 3 & 5pm *sigh*...
Braydens also muching into the rusks like theres no tomorrow, he'll knaw it half way down in no time at all! (with bits all over him for mummy to clean up!)
He is crawling better now (still a bit slow, but thats good cause I can keep up a bit!) he still drags himself around a fair bit, when he couldn't be bothered or wants to get somewhere fast! He got his first bruise the other day (probably not something to be proud of!!) He rolled over on the tiles, and didn't hold his head up - poor bubba - we both had a bit of a grizzle over that one!!
Looking forward to hearing all the other bubbas news!! :D

Hello everyone,

well we made it to wollongong and alissa was so good travelling in the car from the sunshine coast qld. we have been here for about 4 days and she has settled back down to sleeping through the night again. Her teeth are still bothering her she has a top tooth that is very close to cutting through. we had no furniture only camping chairs to sit on back in qld so alissa was always crawling around to find something to help pull herself up to standing position on. But now we are living with soon to be mum in law so there is a whole house full of furniture and this morning alissa pulled herself up into standing position using the coffee table (its round and is now getting teeth marks around the egde) sorry nan nan.

Is anyone from wollongong?? would be nice to meet up with other mummies and babes i'm sure alissa would like it to. i'm new to the area and would like to make some new friends.

Bye for now, Jade :)

*sigh* Before we moved, Andrew was sleeping through.

For the past week and a half we have reverted to a 2 or 3am feed. He just wont' settle without it.

I'm not really trying to stop it this time. We are moving again at the beginning of December so I'm sure his routine will fly out the window again.

The broken sleep is getting to me, but sometimes he surprises me in the morning and goes back to bed for 2hrs after brekky! So its not so bad.

I don't really have the patience right now to keep trying to resettle - if he doesn't settle after 1 or 2 goes... I feed him. Just easier!!

How are the night feeds going? DD has woken up 2 nights in a row now for a snack, but she has a bit of a cold,I think thats why.

I have solved the mystery of my cranky baby who keeps waking up all through the night..........

He is getting his first tooth! I had a peek in his mouth last night and could see a little ridge in the bottom gum! It was so exciting! And today I can feel a little spike in there!

YAAAAYYYYY!!! I feel like doing a happy dance :D

Nicole, i'm thinking that Andrew and Spencer could be sprouting that first tooth together. He's got a hard ridge on his gum too and it looks like a tooth is coming. It might also answer why I'm up twice a night as well!

Yeah I love the baby talk too.

Unfortunately my little darling has discovered his screaming ability - so he practises it all day long! Not a grumpy scream, just a blood-curdling scream just for the sake of it! Arrgghh!

So far his triggers are - seeing the cat, opening a door (any door, including the fridge or cupboard!)

Its driving me batty. I'm glad he has strong vocal cords, but my ears are just a little sore of all the noise. And I doubt the cat will ever feel comfortable at home again.

Oh well. Just another stage to savour before it departs for yet another next week... :D

Max learned how to drink through a straw today! I was so excited I rang dh at work and told him. hehehe, how life changes when you have a baby!

He is starting to rock back and forth on all fours now, but only with a bit of encouragement. He's nearly recovered from his cold, thank goodness. I was a rough week last week.

Hi everyone :) Long time no speak! Was just thinking last night I should wander back to this thread..

Andrew's first tooth came through last week - and a few days later, no 2 reared its head! Its so strange to see them coming out though. You can only really see them when he cries with his mouth wide open - he won't let us look in there!

He is a bit of a pain in the bum at the moment, wants to be held ALL THE TIME and its just exhausting. So a good part of my day is spent on the floor with him trying to show him that its ok to be there and that i am still nearby. He is getting really frustrated not being able to move to things on his own, he tries to crawl and rocks back and forth but when he doesn't get very far, he gives up and has a whinge. I just wish he would learn already!! I dont mind chasing him around all day, just so long as he can be happy doing something on his own!

He is eating a lot these days too, its hard to keep up. He's also drinking out of a straw, and sometimes even just a cup if i hold it up for him. But he does seem to think its a lot of fun to actually BLOW through the straw and make a nice mess. Oh well, thank heavens its only water!

He learnt how to wave this week, its sooo cute. Its a very royal wave, just the hand, not the whole arm! :D But now he waves to everything, especially the cat, which is adorable! But yesterday we went out to check the mail and as we walked back inside, he was waving at the mailbox! It had me laughing for quite a while.

Anyways the little darling is asleep so I might go have one myself!

Hey guys!
DS is now crawling very fast all over the place - the poor cat never gets a break!
Nicole79 - DS used to try and crawl but he couldn't so he would just whinge all day, but now that he is finally crawling (took him 2 months from when he got on his hands and knees!) he is happy to amuse himself, but also wears himself out quicker!!!
He can say dadadada and bub bub bub bub its soooo cute. We are working on the waving bit, but he just laughs at everyone waving at him!
No toothie pegs yet *sigh* but he has been happier lately, so no complaints!
He is now pulling himself into standing position on everything he can find, walls, chairs, tables, its had me in a nervous wreck cause he can't get down so he just lets go :( , so I have to be pretty quick!
Our little one is having 4 bottles a day plus 3 solids, I think Im going to have to make them bigger portions though, because he is always looking for more! He loves he yoghurt - can babies have too much yoghurt???
Hope all is well!!

red crayon
02-11-2005, 16:37
Harmony - Spencer is a total guts. He bursts into tears when he realises there's no more food. I give him a fair amount of yoghurt so goodness knows if you can have too much. He's currently on 3 solids, two bfs a day (i've dropped lunch) and one at night (still...grrrrr...). I'm desperate to drop that night feed.

Cathy - I bought Spencer a bottle with a straw attachment a while ago and haven't yet used it. You've inspired me - today is the day we learn about sucking through straws!

Nicole - two teeth! it's amazing, isn't it - you wait for so long for the first one and then the second appears out of nowhere. I wonder if the same thing will happen for Spencer? Love the wave - I push Spencer in the stroller here in Hanoi and he happily waves to all and sundry.

Kimmy and My3kids - how are you both doing?

Hi all. Had no idea this thread existed till today! Was interesting reading back through some of the posts. Malakai was born 22 March so is just over 7 months. He has no teeth as yet. He started to crawl last Sunday. He kind of does a comando/slide crawl. Very cute. He is getting faster and better already though. He can sit up on his own and has done that for about a month now with no worries and he can get from sitting to crawling. He can roll both ways. He is using a sipper cup but have not tried a straw as yet. He is having 3 solid feeds a day and tomorrow will be the first time he tries meat. (we have to be careful as we have a history of allergies so have to introduce things slowly). He says bub, dadada and mum when he is upset! He blows raspberries and his latest noise is like a clicking sound, so cute. He has two sleeps a day of between 1 and 2 1/2 hrs each. It is amazing how quickly they grow. He can pull himself up to standing in his playpen and has done it once in his cot but has not attempted it anywhere else yet. He has a fascination with cords since starting to crawl! Ok I have gone on for long enough hehe. But you are all proud mummies too so understand. :)

anyhoo, the electricity's back on and so am i. spencer had a shocker last night. he's teething...the tooth has started erupting through the gum...and it must be giving him grief. he was howling like a banshee last night. nothing calmed him down. not bfs, not co-sleeping, not cuddles. i used some baby panadol but it didn't seem to do much. i eventually rocked him to sleep at a quarter to 5. what a long night. i think DP and i will be having an early night tonight :)

This is so cool. I am up to page 4 and there is still heaps more gorgeous stories to read.

Ok, I am finally finished. I've loved reading all your stories, especially the Brayden's Pooey Moment. I can totally relate - it was a hot qld spring day and I put Thomas to bed for his mid-day nap in a nappy and a t-shirt thinking nothing more of it. Normally, Thomas lets me know he's awake by crying out. This fine day however, he decided to take his nappy off (only 7 & 1/2 months old mind you) and decides to play with the contents. Well, you can just imagine what mess I discovered when I went in to check on him. There was poo everywhere, up his arms, all over the sheets, you name it ergh, yuk. Luckily DH was home that day, so I gave him the task of showering pooey Thomas, while I had the unpleasant task of changing the sheets Yay.

Thomas is now 8.5 months old. He just cut his second tooth last wednesday and is still not crawling - very close though. He eats ANYTHING. If we have pork schnitzel, Thomas has pork schnitzel. If we have Pad Thai, Thomas has Pad Thai (chilli and all). He loves prawns and salmon. He has only nearly chocked once and that was when he was sucking a peice of banana too hard and it went straight to the back of his through. Cried from shock more than anything.

We live on the Gold Coast (northern end), and we would love to catch up with other bubs and mums in the area. I am going to Southbank next week to meet with mum's at the beach there, I'm so excited.

Look forward to hearing more stories.

Hi Thomas and Mum - welcome to the thread. I know what you mean with the hazards of babies taking off their nappies. I had to stop putting Spencer to bed in just a nappy and singlet because he'd discovered how to undo the side tabs. Even now, when I change his nappy, we have a battle because he likes to undo the tabs after I've done them up.

Well, it looks like Spencer has a second tooth coming. Last night wasn't as bad as the night before but it was still unsettled. Hopefully tonight is a bit more peaceful.

Harmony83
04-11-2005, 12:09

Nappy change is bad enough at the moment! He wiggles all over the place, kicks his feet in his poor, kicks poo everywhere YUCK!!! Babies are just sooooo strong and its not easy holding them down with one hand and cleaning up poop with the other - icky icky icky!

hi there,

well Tayla is now 9 months and Spencersmum i feel your pain - all last night she was howling and today she is howling in her cot but so overtired. She has had bonjela, panadol, nurofen but nothing is working! I can't feel anything on her gums yet but she has to be teething as nothing else is wrong!

I am soooo exhausted!

But, apart from the screams in the background here, she still isn't crawling and has no interest in it! She knows what bye bye means and when you say it she starts waving her hand in the air - very cute!

Yes, hmmm, nappy change time is a challenge in our house too.

Max keeps rolling over onto his tummy. I try and keep him on his back, but there's no stopping him. So sometimes it gets pretty messy...... eeeek.

I keep wondering how I'm going to cope if I get pregnant again (we're thinking about it) it's hard enough at the moment let alone with a huge tummy as well!

drewid

Nappy time here isnt quite so dirty yet!!

Lately I have been giving Andrew a baby wipe to play with while i clean him up - it keeps him occupied. But the past few days, he has been reaching 'down there' with the wipe still in his hand...so in effect, is actualy helping me wipe him! :D Its quite funny to watch.

He's not rolling over on the change table or anything TOO far, but he does like to reach for things on the little side table next to it. Usually I will either give him his brush or a wipe to play with - keeps him out of trouble! Sometimes he likes to fiddle with the grip tabs on the nappies, but never actually at change time - just sometimes when he is bored I think, he finds them and flicks them, I guess cos they make that nice scrunchy noise when they get ripped!

Like Wattle, I worry about being pregnant again too - Andrew likes to kick me in the tummy while changing him, which I can live wiht now, but if i had a bub inside i think that would be another story! Its hard being a short mummy -my tummy is right in the firing line!!!

kimmy - the catnapping is really annoying, isn't it. spencer goes through phases of doing that. i haven't got any advice other than to persist with trying to encourage her to sleep longer. i have often gone into spencer's room if he's woken up too soon and said to him, nah, sorry, you need more sleep. he cries a bit and then goes back to sleep.

It is amazing how quickly they seem to grow. They do not stay a little baby for very long! Crawling is amazing! DS has been doing it just over a week now. You feel so proud. Then you realise how much childproofing you still need to do! So until you do you have fun dragging them away from what they can not touch. Cords are a favourite for my little guy! Made his sleeps a little unsettled at first. Because of course he had to test out his movement in his cot too. :) We have a tiled floor and his clothes get so dirty now! The vacuum cleaner gets used a lot more now too!! It is such a cute age. All the new things they learn, watching them change and develop their own little personality.

Hi guys

Im new to this thread so here goes. My darling little girl is 8 months old and learnt to crawl two days ago. Im not sure she has stopped since. She usually just makes herself dizzy by rolling everywhere. Two months ago she learnt to sit up on her own and that was the end of my peace. Since then, my remotes go flying, my tv changes channel, my cds get spread everywhere and i need to follow her everywhere. does this count as a new exercise routine?

although she has no teeth that hasnt stopped her from stealing steak off my plate and trying to munch on it. and how does she know when im trying for 5 min peace with a milo and tim tam?

i know one thing though, i wouldn't trade her for the world.

Hi everyone :)

We had a bit of a milestone yesterday - was giving Andrew his bath as normal, I was sitting on the floor next to the bath, as he tends to play in there for a LONG time these days. Anyway I look down to scratch my ankle (darn cat's fleas) and i look back up and Andrew has turned to the side of the bath, put his hands on the edge and stood up!

If I hadn't have grabbed him, I'm sure he would have tried to climb over the edge!

Arrghh!

I can't believe it - he can pull himself to stand up in the bath, a very wet and slippery place (esp cos we use alpha keri OIL in it for his skin) but won't pull himself up from carpet to furniture?!?

How bizarre.

Anyway now we have to be soooooooooooooooooo vigilant in the bath cos it happened in a matter of seconds! I'm still in shock.

Are there any other bath houdini's out there?

kimmy
10-11-2005, 08:57

Hi everyone,

Welcome to tj_mum, deanne and cobysmummy.

Kimmy - good to hear chloe's cold is getting better. spencer is actually in good health for a change - fingers crossed.

Cathy - you are not a bad mummy...repeat after me..i am not a bad mummy. i have to say that because last night while i too had been distracted spencer tried to stand up in the bath and slipped over. no black eye but a very big fright for both of us.

Channy - spencer has also started the standing up in the cot routine. his problem is that i am still using the mossie net (the mossies here are as big as shetland ponies and just as unpleasant) and he gets stuck.

spencer is really mobile in the cot when he sleeps. the other day he was having a nap and when i went to check on him, he had done a 180 turn and his head was where his feet had been. i find him in the wierdest positions.

I think Channy and I are about to start the restless sleepers club. Anyone else want to join??

Bad bad mummy.

We almost had a black eye yesterday too - luckily it missed and he is now just sporting a bruise on the side of his forehead... I was putting him in his high chair for dinner last night and he lunged forward and bopped himself on the kitchen bench... OUCH I felt so sick. Luckily I managed to get a grip on him before he hit the floor, now THAT would have been terrible. :(

I felt like such a bad mummy even though there was nothing I could do. He's such a slippery little thing.

Hey guys how are all our beautiful 'mini me's' going???
Our DS (through gritted teeth) didn't go to sleep till after 10 last night and after 9 the night before! Very fustrating!! Me and my DF noticed that when he does the bath bottle bed routine with him, he won't sleep and wakes up through the night, whereas when I do the bath bottle bed routine with him we don't have any probs (so far) do you think its got anything to do with who is doing it or maybe just a coincidence???

hi everyone. well, spencer has been taking his first tentative 'steps' towards crawling. he crawsd a bit, collapses, whinges like a real little drama queen and then gets up and crawls a bit more. exciting but daunting. the other thing he's started doing is making kissing noises. i gave him a kiss on the head the other day and turned away to do something. i heard a little kiss noise and turned back and he did it again. he was imitating the mwah noise i make when i kiss him. i clapped and congratulated him and he gave me a shy little pleased-with-himself smile. today he's been doing it non-stop. very cute. i have to teach him to blow kisses now.

Hi to all joining in on this thread. I'm so glad I found you all.
Emma was born 19th March sto will be 8mths old this Saturday. I too am wondering where my little baby has gone but at the same time this is such a lovely age.
Emma has 8 teeth already,,,started early getting her first two at 4.5 mths. Emma only ever rolled about 4 times, I just think it wasn't getting her anywhere quickly enough. Emma has been sitting up for over a month now and seemed to be able to do it straight away has hardly ever had a topple. Emma too is rocking madly on all fours, can't wait to take off & what a shock to the rest of us it will be, lol.
Doesn't do alot of chatting though she was a real chatterbox when she was tiny but has a large range of sounds which she loves to entertain us with.
Isn't it amazing how different they all are.
It is so good to talk to other mums with bubs the same age. I am 41 and none of my friends have bubs or little kids anymore. This is great. Thanks ladies.

I had put all the stuff there I thought he wouldn't be able to reach for another month at least - wrong. So now things are quickly moving up up up and away.

I have even moved the coffee table away because it always seems to accumulate remotes, empty glasses, nail cippers, newspapers, a pair of socks, and chocolate wrapper etc etc. There's a big gap behind the telly where all the electrical cables are. I've put a heavy piece of cardboard in there for the moment, but I'm wondering how long that's going to last!

No sleeping on the job now!

The power of crawling has dawned on Spencer over the past few days. It's funny to watch - he looks around the room as if to say "what will I go and look at next". Luckily he's still pretty slow so I can head him off at the pass if he'd headed towards something unsafe. We are looking to move houses for next year now that Spencer is mobile. The place we are renting is typically Vietnamese - tall and narrow with lots of floors and lots of stairs. No place for a crawling baby.

Butterfly - how's the tummy virus?

HI all,

well still no sign of teeth but her hums are looking pretty white - I have a feeling the poor little bugger will get them all in one hit!

The past week has been interesting............ After taking Tayla to an osteopth to sort out her flat head, I was warned that she will suddenly start doing things that she didn't really do before as the pressure on her nervous system was relieved etc.

Well, in the past week, she has gone crazy! She decided that she didn't want to sleep on her back anymore as the side was more comfortable. She kicks with such force i have bruises and she just wont keep still. Unfortunately she is still restless at night so I have to put her in the bed but she rolls and moves and kicks around and won't lie still - very annoying! I am taking her back to the ostepath tomorrow for another session and hopefully that will make the difference again to relieve the pain for her teething.

Still no crawling but she does headstand things where she is on her back and then arches it so that she is supported by her feet and head!

Just wish she would sleep solidly through the night as her banging her head up and down and moving around the cot pushing herself is driving me nuts!

I know what you mean about the floor!!! They looked pretty clean from where Im standing, then after I pick up DS from crawling everywhere he's filthy!! I think DS has explored almost every inch of our house! We bought him one of those 'shape sorter' thingies from Fisher Price, I build little towers and he loves to knock em down!! Its so cute, we spent half the day yesterday building and destroying! Still no toothie pegs *sigh* I thought for sure they were coming through, he had a lump on his gum and everything - then gone, nothing! He's been having a few bad nights lately where he wakes up a few times - but Im sure he'll settle back to his old routine and sleep through until a nice early 4.30- 5.00am...

Hi everyone :)

Well, Andrew has learnt to crawl. Kind of happened slowly over a few days. We usually put him on the floor in front of the couch while we eat dinner at night (naughty parents eating dinner on the couch!) and he has started going from sitting position down to his tummy and crawly-shuffling around on the tiles. Its so cute! But mostly he just does it to get to mummy - he has started grabbing my legs and trying to climb me! He is SUCH a mummas boy! Any opportunity there is to climb me, he'll take it... its stretching all my t-shirts but its just adorable! How sweet it is to be loved so much!

I am keeping an eye out for some more teeth, but still only the 2 bottom ones at the moment. I love his new toothy grin! Gorgeous :)

That's so great Nicole! I can't wait for Tayla to do the same - it is a great feeling when they reach out their arms for you let alone come crawling to you!

Tayla rolls to be right next to me when I put her in bed at night when she is unsettled - she has to have either a leg touching me or her arm touching me!

As for the dirt, I don't even use napisan anymore to get stains out - in fact, I take her shopping with her clothes covered in biscuit and vegemite! When I see other mums looking strangely at me with their newborns I think 'just you wait until they start solids!!!' :p

Hi there all,
Thought I might join in as my Emma is a march 2005 bub. Isn't this an exciting time with them doing so many new things: sitting, rocking, crawling, talking, eating. I am really enjoying all the new experiences.
Emma loves to sleep on her side too and often falls asleep with one of her feet in her mouth, it looks pretty funny!

Hi all & welcome to ChristineM our baby girls are only a couple of days apart.... ;)
Well Chloe has been pulling herself up on everything for a bit now but lately she has been taking little steps to me & between furniture she is no longer interested in sitting on the floor or crawling around which is really scary because i don't think it will be long until she starts walking around... my little girl is growing up to fast make me feel sad :(
I'm not sure but i think Chloe is teething because she has been such a grumpy bum the last few days & always wanting mummy & no one else, also all her gums are white so maybe if so i wish they would hurry up...
So exciteing all these bub's starting to crawl YAY :D

Hey all. Welcome to the new people. Kai is climbing on everything! He also tries to climb up my leg! So cute! His crawling is sliding (on tiles) so I know what you mean about dirty floors! So exciting, his first tooth cut through today! We saw it just under the gum a couple of days ago and he was not eating or drinking. DH put teething gel on tonight and went it has cut through! He can also get from crawling to sitting.

Tayla's little white dot on her gum has gone this morning : (.

darn teeth teasing mummy! : )

But, after her 2nd treatment at the osteopath, she slept really well last night, only waking up once because she had done a 180 degree turn with her face right in the corner of her cot on her hands and knees so she scared herself.

No where near as restless and apparently it is due to her cranial plates now being in alignment! She also didn't sleep on her side where she has been doing that for the past week!

Hi to everyone,
I have just read through most of this thread & it seems you have all gotten to know one another fairly well. I would love to be part of this thread & get to know you as well.
We have Emma who was born on 19th March so she is just 8mths old. Emma is an absolute delight & is such a good bub. She has 8 teeth, sits up on her own, is rocking on all four & everyday I think she will crawl at any moment. Emma has three meals a day plus morning and/or afternoon tea sometimes and she loves water. I am still breastfeeding her and still enjoying it.
I live with my partner and my three older children from my first marriage, I like gardening, reading, swimming, walking and spending time with my family.
Hope that's enough of an intro.

Gosh they just keep learning all the time don't they..

After learning to crawl just a few days ago, Andrew has now discovered how to sit up, from his belly!

I went in to pick him up from a nap earlier and I found him sitting up playing with the side of his cot - I was SO surprised I stopped in the doorway with my mouth hanging open!

Thought it might have been a fluke, but he did it again out the lounge room and I actually got to SEE how he did it - very funky move!

I'm just in awe of this little fella...! :D

Hi ChristineM. I'm Jacqui and I've a got 10 month old. Gee, you've got your hands full - four kids.

Yay to Butterfly and her clever girl. It's amazing how it all of a sudden clicks and the crawling just happens. Spencer doesn't stop now. he loves to flick a plastic ball he's got with his hand and crawl after it.

Spencer went to his first birthday party yesterday. His little mate, Eva, turned 1. Funny day. I didn't realise but at one point Eva's mum had given Spencer a piece of fairy bread which he spent no time in shoving into his mouth. By the time I caught on, he was almost gagging from having too much in his mouth. he's a bottomless pit, i swear :D

On the talking front, nothing new there. Still says Mum allll the time, but DH reckons he heard him said dadada in his cot yesterday morning. But I haven't heard it yet! He is trying to say hello, which is very cute!

Couldn't you just eat them all up. I loved the way on the first day that Thomas started drinking through the straw, he would never swallow the last mouthfull and it wad just fall out of his mouth. I had to chuckle. And I love to how they pout their lips to suck from the straw.

I bought this great little cup with a straw from woolies the other day and it has been the greatest thing ever - I take it everywhere with us now and it was only about $1.40. It's so good when we have been dining out because the straw is a plastic tube that bends and fits over the air whole so there are NO leakages for once. I always had trouble getting Thomas to drink water from the bottle but now he drinks water like it's going out of style

He has also been getting so mobile - crawling is not enough for him anymore - he wants to climb up on the furniture, my legs, the dogs, anything he can pull himself up with. It's freeeaaakkking me out!!!

I was so proud of him today (hmm, yesterday now), I had to look after a 15 month old baby that neither of us had ever met and Thomas was so well behaved, so gentle - my little angel :).

hey BuTTeRfLy

Tayla is doing the same thing! ONly eats one mouthful of vegies or chicken and vegies but goes nuts on toast, bananas, custard, yoghurt etc!

But, the trick we found is to mix a bit of gravy in with the chicken or meat and vegies and she can't get enough of it!!!

Apart from Tayla eating like a little piggie, her sleep patterns are back to normal for now that the 2 bottom teeth have cut through but I think the top two are about to pop through.........

Still waiting for a sign of chicken pox, apparently there is 3 week incubation so after this weekend coming we are then safe!

My 9 1/2mth olds fave snacks at the moment are - yoghurt (adult variety - bigger tubs!), toast with vegemite, vegemite sandwiches, cheese slices, banana. He's also starting to enjoy pasta (little bits) and flaked tuna.

Yup. I asked the doc the same thing and their gums are almost as sharp as their teeth.

Tayla only got 2 teeth cutting through a few weeks ago but she was chewing bits with her gums.

Something else she likes now is ham - i buy shaved stuff and then peel little bits off and she can't get enough of it.

On the heinz website, you can also start to give them canned sliced pears and peaches and stuff like that - basically anything soft they can have and shove in their mouth!

Tayla now has chicken pox - spots started yesterday and they are all over her back, tummy and bum! She doesn't seem bothered by it all so far fingers crossed!!!

Hi all,
Isn't this an exciting age for us and our bubs! Our Emma Grace is almost 9mths old now, born 19th March. Emma got teeth early at 4.5 mths and now has 6. She loves food with favs being baby muesli, vegemite, rice cakes, rice and fish but eats plenty of others which is great. Emma sat up at 6mths and after rocking on all fours for the past month has taken off and started crawling a couple of days ago. There is no stopping her now, she is in to everything. We go swimming everymorning which she loves and she also loves to read. Only have one word,,,mum so I am mum, dad is mum and her three sisters are mum, it's really funny and my other girls get a real thrill out of it.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas, I can't wait for Emma to have some new toys to play with as I think we are both getting sick of the originals. Not long to go now,,,,Merry Christmas all. :)

About 2 weeks ago he just decided enough was enough and started crawling around on his knees. We didn't do anything to encourage it, he just discovered it in his own good time. I'm sure Harry will figure it out - its all trial and error for them!

I think we are getting a 3rd tooth at the moment too, so should prove fun over Xmas! SO far so good though, he is still sleeping and eating well, so hopefully it won't disturb him too much this time.

Andrew is trying to stand on his own, he keeps letting go of the couch or table that he is holding on to and sort of hovers for a second before sitting down on the floor. Its a bit scary to think that walking is not too far away! Yikes. He's growing up so quickly!

Hope all the other bubbas and mummas are doing well! How exciting, its almost time for their 1st Christmas! Yay!

Hi everyone!

Well what a month we have had!

on 18/11, Tayla got her first tooth! 2 days later, the 2nd popped up!
On 9/12, she got chicken pox and an extremely severe case of it..........:(

2 nights ago, she just started crawling - SOOOOOO PROUD!!!! :D :D

She is now teething again and still all scabby with carpet burns on her knees but she is as happy as a clam!

How are the others going?

Hi Everyone
Yay for all the bubbies who have started doing new things and teething! It's a very exciting time! :)

Well, still no sign of teeth for my DD,I hope they don't hit her all at once when they decide to come through

These last few days she has started to pull herself up on things, and laughs when she falls down on her bum,it's very cute to watch.

I hope everyone has a great xmas, especially those of us with bubs having a first xmas! :)

Hi Everyone. Well ds has officially turned into a monster! A cheeky monster at that. He now proceeds to cry extremely loudly every time something doesn't go his way! Oh well, all part of growing up I guess.

I've just finished sewing him a santa sack. I'm not too good at sewing, in fact it looks a bit like Max sewed it! But it's still going to be fun loading it up with pressies from santa.

He is nearly walking.....so close now. He seems to be going through that frustrated stage like he did just before he crawled. So hopefully it won't be long. Now I am pregnant with bub number 2, so it's going to be an interesting time! I can just imagine myself waddling after my cheeky little boy!

drewid
20-12-2005, 11:49
Wattle, Andrew is getting cheeky too! He's not quite in the crying cos he hasn't got his way, but he cries when he is bored, and crawls over to be picked up. So I pick him up and he cries to be let down! Its exhausting. Up down, up down!

Good on you for making a Santa sack - I haven't done anything like that, the pressies are just under the tree. After attacking them last week, this week he seems to have forgotten they even exist! Hope we can coax him into attacking them on Xmas day!

I bet you can't wait to be waddling after your gorgeous little man :) Lucky you!

20-12-2005, 11:56
Oh thats funny, Brayden does the same thing, he cries and crawls over to be picked up then cries to be let down again - he doesn't know what he wants!!! He threw a massive tantrum the other day, we opened up an early pressie from his Grandma in Cairns, and it was one of those, wooden push things with the building blocks in it, he would happily push it around (like a push walker) and everytime something got in his way, he would scream and bank the pushy thing into it until someone moved it out of his way, this went of about 5 times before we finally took it off him, then he screamed and kicked his legs for about 5 minutes! Kinda cute, hope thats not an indication of what he will be like as a toddler!

Hey everybody....

What a fantastic reading! So proud that all your kids are doing great!! Btw Kimmy, Thomas is 1 month younger than your daughter!

This is what we wrote on our website about Thomas who turns 10 months old on Sunday:

A 10 month old Thomas...

Thomas is now 10 months old (well yesterday to be exact) sorry for being so slack, son. Busy busy with getting ready for Christmas, family, celebrations. But here is the update on our 10 months old Thomas.

Thomas is now a Master at being so cheeky and mischievous! He crawls everywhere, climbs up on just about anything, and everything goes straight to his mouth! No matter how clean our house is, he ALWAYS manages to find something!

He's just sooo much fun and getting cuter everyday, we love him to bits! Watch out with his teeth they are getting sharper by the minute!

Thomas still giggles and laughs and smiles all the time. He's still a happy baby and thanks God for that!

We reckon by Christmas he will be "walking around" like a real man!

So exciting but scary at the same time....:o

Nicole i just noticed you are trying to concieve. i want another one but dh reckons its too soon and thinks twos enough. Gees these smilies still don't work.
My boy sheldon is 11mnth well nearly 1. He has 4 teeth. he is so cheeky but always such a happy boy. He walks furniture around the house and pulls dvds off the shelf. He is actually starting to make more of a mess then his older brother. lol, well nearly.
I think he will be walking soon. He pulls himself on the furiture and other items. He is soooo not a fussy eater, eating anything. He is such a scavernger, any little scrap on the floor he will grab. The other night i was cooking and dropped some cauliflower on the floor and yep you guessed it he ate it. Well at least he likes his veges. lol.

There are heaps of them! We bought one from Target (i think the brand is 'the first years') and it sort of has pressure points on the sides that keep it in place between the walls. If that makes sense. It was about $80ish I think.

We bought a Love n Care Auto Close one and it's fantastic. It's new on the market, and its great because as you walk through it, it just swings back and locks shut by itself. Much easier when you have your hands full!

Ds loves going and closing it too.... he gets all excited when it goes 'click' back into place.

He started walking around the coffee table yesterday (in a desperate attempt to get a dummy that he spied:rolleyes: ) so Im sure he'll be letting go soon and taking those first steps. Ooooooh I'm so excited for him. Hopefully he will settle down a bit, he seems to be very frustrated lately. HIs knees are pretty bruised, so he crab crawls around to give one a break.:(

I have floor boards though bub wears pants mostly to protect his knees. They need knee pads. im sure i read somewhere that a mum had created and paten the design for baby knee pads.

My nearly one yr old loves pulling my dvds off the shelf and putting them back and forth. Loves pulling himself up on the cot and crawling around after his older brother, so cute.

Have a wonderful NYE celebration! Thomas is doing alright. Not much a crawler these days. He's standing up a lot! Walking from side to side using whatever he can grab to hold of. Its a worry lol soooo dangerous sometimes! :o
We are off to Cirqular Quay today staying at friends place at the Quays so we are going to watch the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks from the balcony so we will have the best view!
I will let you know how Thomas goes with the big bang/loud noises from the fireworks etc later on

Hi all,
What a busy time of year it has been. Well Thomas got his third tooth on Boxing Day! It seemed to have caused him more pain than the bottom two combined, poor little soul. He was so overwhelmed with christmas and all, but he definitly preferred the boxes. Now he doesn't know which toy to play with first!

He has started using his face to brake his speed... his legs seem to go faster than his arms can carry him, which has resulted on a few bruises on his forehead. Kinda funny to watch :p. He is pulling himself up on everything, but I still feel I might have a bit of time before he is walking (wishfull thinking more than anything else).

And my goodness, he is getting cheekier by the day - he is such a show pony, lapping up the camera whenever it is pulled out. We have some great video footage from christmas morning.

Well, happy New Years everyone (we are taking Thomas into Surfers Beach tonight to see the fireworks - a triple whammy, sand, sea and fireworks). Lets hope it doesn't rain this year!

Hey everyone :) Happy NYE! :D

We are going along well here. Andrew is standing on his own sometimes, clever boy. He is learning a lot of new sounds and is creating his own babble language that includes some regular words like mama dada bub etc. He has learnt a funky trick lately - when I pick him up i pucker my lips and say 'kiss' and he gives me a sloppy kiss on the lips! Its sooooo cute. My DH tried it out this morning and he got a wet kiss too! Its just adorable... :)

No more teeth yet, but I can see about 4 sitting in the gums up top so am waiting for them to start to drop down. Yikes, I hope they don't all come at once, could be a bit of a madhouse!

Still sleeping beautifully through the night (yay) and sometimes he even sleeps in until 6 or 7, otherwise its 5ish. But it works just fine. He is hovering on 2 day sleeps at the moment, but some days can have up to 4! He likes his sleep...just like daddy :)

Anyway he is currently tearing apart the lounge room so better go inspect the damage!!

Happy New Year everyone!

We had some major developments in the past 2 weeks! 2 weeks to the day, Tayla was refusing to go to sleep as per usual so I got her up out of bed and lo and behold, she decided to start crawling at 9pm at night! Very exciting and cute.

Now, she is zooming all around the place.................:p

Then, the next day, I told her to give her toy a kiss and she did! Mouth wide open, dribble and lean in and kiss! very cute.

Unfortunately, we have had major sleep issues at night which is draining me so she sleeps with us in our bed. even though she kicks the crap out of me half the night and is very restless, when she wakes up in the morning she sits up, crawls to me and plants a nice big sloppy one on me. :D

We can see the next bottom tooth trying to get through - thought they get the top 2 teeth first before any more bottom ones?

Anyway i have a February baby his name is Luke and he was born on the 1st.
He has his two bottom teeth and is teething at the moment (i don't think it ever stops). He can crawl and is pulling himself up on everything and walks around the furniture. He learnt how to blow raspberries about a month ago and can also say bubbubbub. He loves to give big sloppy kisses and blow raspberries on his daddy. He currently weighs about 8.5kg and is about 70cm tall. He was born 6 weeks prem but you couldn't tell.

Hi,

Our little bloke Mathew was born 7 March 05 and is delightful to watch learn.

He has been on his hands and knees crawling really fast for about a month and stands up unassisted and trying to take his first step but crashes down on to his all fours and takes off.

He has been shouting out Dadda for maybe 7 or 8 weeks, I think dadda also applies to mum.:-)

Definately got a mind of his own, wonder who he got that from.:-)

I think I will go down to woolies and have my wages directly deposited into their account each month. Putting a nappy on him IS like putting an octupus in a string bag.

Sleep wise he has left us alone and normally goes down 9pm and don't hear from him till 7am the next morning.

Although we are "older parents"!!! we are still on the L plates.

Regards,
John

Hi everyone. Sheldon is learning to climb. He climbs out of the rocker that hes buckled into when he finishes his bottle. He climbs over the couch and he is trying to climb the cot which is up and at it lowest the base. He walks around the house using furniture and walls. He says mum, dad, bub, yum, ta. If someone burps he does a fake one. He is a real character.

He currently weighs about 8.5kg

My goodness, you lucky thing - try 12Kg - my poor arms! The amount of times my arm has nearly let go as he has done one of his super quick about turns! Sometimes, when he gets clingy my arm starts to shake so much I can't hold him anymore, or my hip starts to go numb. I must invest in a sling I think :) to distribute the weight!

It's funny, the third tooth caused more pain than the bottom two combined, yet the forth tooth caused him no pain at all  ?

Talking about funny, my boy now thinks he's a supermodel or something - he's never been camera shy (always smiles for the camera), but his latest fase is ridiculous. He now chews his food, then spits it out, What The??? The only thing I can get him to ingest is sultanas - at least he has plenty of reserves.

Fraggle - Oh lucky us hey we have the big boys !!!! Mine is almost 10mths & 10kgs & is 76cms he is almost into size 2 !!!! WTH is with that ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Ive been thinking about getting a sling also but money being an issue atm i may have to forget about it & just get used to not feeling my arms LOL.
Bubs now has 3 teeth !!!!!! 2 bottom came in just before Christmas & the 3rd being the top right finally cut through properly by NYE now it seems the left front wants to make its way out being jealous n all ... does it ever stop ?!?!?!?
sausage_1 - Our little boys were born the same day ... The most special of course ;) Sounds like your little one is more advanced getting about than mine but he does his own crawl a mix between a commando crawl & caterpillar hehehe. Not that the playpen stops him much these days do i dont even get a little peace then as he just pushes it to where he wants to go damned intelligent kids lol !
Bubs already knows saying daddy is for fun & mamma is for when he wants cuddles he even cries for mamma when he is upset so of course my partner thinks this gets him out of things  He now has started saying ba buy & waves goodbye too he even does this to his toys when going for a nap tis soooo cute :D He gives kisses open mouthed of course LOL but hey what mother doesnt love these ??? :p Then there is also the fake cough to get attention & the face pulling its hilarious !!! He scrunches his nose up at you etc i have nooooo idea where he got that from *whistles* I just cant resist teaching him new things hehehe guess that will change when i teach him something naughty hehehehe.
He still pretty much sleeps through the nite except when teeth are bothering him guess this all makes up for the first 3 or 4mths when i had none hehehe.
Not much else has changed but we are pondering a move to cloth nappies hopefully this will all go in our favour.

Hi everyone. Only just found this thread tonight.

Shayley is just over 10 months old now. birthday is 27 feb 2005. have been having some fun over the last week and a half. she cut her second tooth on christmas day and has been restless and clingy ever since. had none of this after the first tooth so im completely baffled.

a week ago today she learnt to stand up on her own and 5 days ago started crawling up the stairs. why practise with one or two when you can follow mum up 16 and give her a heart attack when she leaves the bathroom!

Not sure what her weight etc is supposed to be but is currently 8.5kg and 70cm tall. no matter how much i get into her, she is just burning it all off. people are always commenting on how tiny she is so im hoping she takes after my ex on that one.

its nice to be able to come on here and talk to other mums with bubs the same age. im the only mum in my group of friends and find it hard not to talk about her milestones. they aren't really interested.

Hey guys! Well DS is still doing the same thing at the mo, crawling, cruising, basically getting into all soughts of mischief (as they do)! He is starting to be able to stand by himself (for like 30ish secs at a time), today he 'accidentally' took a step, he was standing next to me and wanted to come closer, so he took a tiny step, shocked himself and fell into my lap - so cute... I don't think I'll count it as his first step though, it was pretty accidental! He was a little rat bag today, he had he first sleep for the day at 3.30 pm - naughty naughty, he usually has it at around 8.00AM! Oh well it was our fault for buggering the poor bugger up, going to the markets - tut tut! I've been trying to teach my little one to clap, wave and say bye bye, but he just laughs at me - he doesn't seem to get it! When we were at the markets today, I had him eating a vegemite sandwiche, he saw another little girl, (obviously alot older) eating a pluto pup, he through his sandwich out the side of the pram, and started trying to reach for the pluto pup! He has turned into a junkfood-aholic, if he sees someone eating fries, icecream, anything naughty, he'll carry on until he gets a bit, he doesn't really eat veges puree/mash much... I have put my foot down and decided no more junk food!!!
Anyways enough of my babbling like an idiot (Im so tired and can't really think straight!) Hope everyones bubbas are doing great!!!

My parents were rabbiting off words to her while we were there on holidays. She now says.. You there?, hello, how ya doin', what's that (comes out wassat), hat, hot, cat, g'day. I don't think she can make much sense out of it. Probably just parroting ;). We have 6 teeth now and she's got a whole heap more cutting through. Too many needle sharp points to count. Poor bubby.

Ds will be 1 on Saturday....ohhhh, I can't believe it. Does that make him a toddler?

Because of my shocking morning sickness, I put dh in charge of the party. He arranged the cake (a winne the pooh ice cream cake), balloons, party hats etc. It's only immediate family, but I'm sure we'll all have fun - especially the grandparents who are beside themselves.

Does anyone else find that it's weird when all the grandparents get together. They all want to hold him, but don't pick him up like they do when it's just one lot of grandparents. Know what I mean? Everyone just holds back. It's interesting watching how different the grandparents are with him too. Ds would probably rather everyone just left him alone to ride his bike.
