Hi Guys
Just wondering if any babies out there have had the allergy testing when they jab them with a needle then put something on the skin to see if it reacts?
Is it painful? Has anyone used emla cream on the are before hand or does this interfere?
My DD is getting tested on the 10th October as she keeps on comming out in a red rash with white pimple/blister type rash. I have kept a food diary for the past week to see if I could work out what it was, but I still have no idea!
All I know is that when she eats somewhere else like a playgroup party the rash is worse. So Im thinking maybe some preservative???
Im just worried that the testing will hurt her
Thanks Guys

when my ds had a food diary, his peadtrician got me to eliminate the foodi thought he was reacting to see if he still reacted to it. if its a preservative you will have to keep a close eye on DD at parties etc, i take snacks for my ds to parties, so dont feel bad if you take some food for DD it might keep her rashless
good luck with the test

My DS has had four allergy tests. All between 11 months and 3.5years. All the times he has had it done they put a drop of the allergen and then scracth it with a pin looking thing. They actually scratched my arm once because the child next door with having a tantrum and they wanted to show me that it didn't really hurt.

I find that DS dislikes the not be able to move while they are doing it and the itchyness after. The 10-15min wait is very long it they want to scratch. He had been worse at the tests when he was older and more aware what was going on.

Anyway, good luck. Hope you find the answer to your allergy problem.

I am pretty sure you can't use elma cream. The usually ask for no creams for 2 days prior and no anti-histimines for 3 days prior to testing.
