Not sure if this is the right place for this, put it here though because it could be related to his hydronephrosis.

This is what Jacobs back looks like...........

It has looked like that for a couple of years now, we asked a GP about it last year when we took him to get some warts burnt off, but he didn't seem too concerned about it. But it didn't look as bad then, it's just gotten bigger and redder over the past couple of weeks.
Pete took him to the Dr after school yesterday and he said that it looks benign (!!!!!!!) but he has never seen anything like it before. he even took a couple of photos of it as it is so strange. We are wondering if maybe it is something to do with his kidneys......but he hasn't been sick or complaining about them hurting or anything.
So the Dr is sending him for some blood tests, I looked up the abbreviations this morning. He is doing a full blood count, an ESR test (which looks for cancer/inflammation/auto-immune diseases), a liver function test and a kidney function test (urea, creatinine and electrolytes).

I'm hoping it isn't anything serious, I couldn't imagine anything happening to him. :(

Gee hope everything is ok!! when will u find out??? I know one friend who has something similar maybe same thing I am not sure... but.. everytime she drinks wine it would come up like that on her chest to her neck... and also another friend has same problem - I can't remember for what drink or food - on his face... maybe he has an allergy to something he eats or drinks???

Thanks. I don't know if it an allergy as it is there all the time, it does get worse when he is hot (after a shower, sitting in front of the heater etc) so I'm guessing blood vessels or something?? But if it were that, you'd think the Dr would have seen it before.
I don't know if we can get the test results over the phone or not, I'll give them a call on Monday and ask. He sees the skin specialist on October 18, a bit of a wait but he is only here once a month and we have only just missed this months visit.

I will, thank you. Someone said it looks like Vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels), so if it is that, the blood test will pick it up.

Thanks :)

I called and got the blood test results yesterday, they were all clear (it's a erlief to know his kidneys are doing okay after all these years). So now we just have a 2wk wait before we can see the specialist.

He saw the "specialist" (who turned out to be a pediatrition.....that's what happens when your DH takes kids to the Dr...they get things wrong) on Wednesday. he didn't know what it was either. Seemed hopeless though, dropping things, umming and ahhing, making jokes about things like cancer etc.

I'll see if we have a vascular specilist around here, might take him to them instead.
