I just need to vent. I don't much feel like being a mum today. :( DD is cranky and clingy, possibly molars coming in or more likely because I'm not paying her enough attention. High5 DVD has gotten heavy usage this morning, I've given into her every request for it. I know the more time I give her the easier it all is, but I just don't have the energy today. PMT, a report due for work, 2 assignments to work on for uni, and trying to organise to move interstate - and all I want to do is crawl back into bed. Instead, we're off to buy groceries. Wheeee.
I know this will pass. As a friend told me, that's the beauty of bad days - they end.
Hope everyone's having a better day. Give your bub's a hug. I'm off to do the same.
Hey Martha
Hope the day improves. My girls are tag teaming on sleep so I can't do anything today - DD2 slept for 2 1/2 hours this morning so I had to keep DD1 quiet at the front of the house, now DD1 has gone down for a sleep and I have to keep DD2 occupied at the back of the house - and what I really need to do is to go shopping and buy groceries as the cupboard is bare!! And DH is away on a boys golfing trip interstate for a week - grrrrrr!!!
Oh for a day off and the freedom to shop without little helpers!

Oh Martha (and Theresa) I feel for you. I hate those days when nothing seems to go right and all you want to do is yell "Time out! Mummy needs a rest"
My hubby is away at a conference this week, so I have been "single mum-ing" it for the past 2 days and am dead on my feet, especially with DD not sleeping through yet.
My sympathy goes out to you - your posts are always considerate and gracious. I'm sure tomorrow will be a corker for you to help make up for today! :)
All I can say is "Amen" to all that has been said!
How often do we think of everyone else and keeping things nice for them so that they are happy and run ourselves ragged in the process?
DVD's are there for our sanity, I am sure ... so, sometimes my kids will watch Stuart Little several times in one day just so that i can get a little bit of peace ... often not for resting or enjoying myself ... it can be so that I can just get on with the housework and get it finished for once! (says me who is at the computer instead of takling my incredibly filthy kitchen!)
Take care you beautiful ladies ... I hope that things start looking up soon!

Hi MarthaM - boy, do I know that 'I don't feel like being a mum today' feeling. Had it on Tuesday with Spencer tired and cranky from not sleeping well and me coming down with a head cold and sneezing all over the place. Just one of those days when you find yourself waiting for the sun to go down. But then the next day everything is different, isn't it. Hope you and Chloe are well.
I can so sympathise with you today!
Ds is 19 months and I think he is getting his eye teeth, but has been whingeing all day, and wants to be carried everywhere, and being 21 weeks pg, i'm getting exhausted by it.
I have no idea when dh is going to be home, but i really hope it is soon!
That is how I deal with it too, just focus on the fact that this too, shall pass!
Big hugs!

Thanks everyone. I felt better after going out and getting groceries. Maybe I just needed to actually accomplish something instead of making endless to-do lists in my head, And Chloe was such a star at Gymbaroo, watching her so happy was the kick to the bum I needed to remind me that I LIKE being a mum, most times.
Kyra, I had to laugh at your comment about using dvd's as distraction to get housework done. I do that all the time, but this morning was entirely for selfish "me" reasons :D
Glad to hear that the day improved. Finally at 3pm I had both girls awake at the same time - hooray - so we too left the house and did the shopping, and then played downstairs in the garden with sand and water and climbing and running - all the good stuff about being a mummy at home! Two tired naked little people came upstairs with me an hour later and the three of us giggled through cooking dinner and singing "Jeremiah was a bullfrog..." - happy days for these three girls. I love it when an average day turns out okay after all!
(That being said I would still like a day off sometime - DH was away for work for two weeks and came home for 12 hours overnight to swap bags and head off on his golf trip. While he was away for work the girls and I travelled to my school reunion by plane and had three days away together where I was functioning on about 4 1/2 hours broken sleep a night, looking after them and trying to catch up with people. Then I flew home and had to go to work for three days. Boy does he owe me a sleep in at some point very soon!!!!!!!)

I'm glad your day improved too Theresa. I haven't quite braved having Chloe running around the house naked yet - rental house, carpets, and pee are a bad combination I think.
Good luck getting the sleep in. Ask for breakfast, or brunch, in bed too!
Yes there is a lot to be said for Queensland weather, floorboards and owning our home (well - the small part that the bank doesn't own!)
And brunch in bed would be divine - although I suspect I would have all of them in bed with me "helping"!
I think I will stop whinging and go to bed now! Hope tomorrow is a brighter day for the two of you.

Hi Jaydensmum, thanks for your reply :) It wasn't so much that Chloe was acting out, more that I was :o But yeah, our afternoon went much better thanks. We went to Gymbaroo and she ran around like mad. She was pretty tired last night, but she usually is. Being a toddler is such hard exhausting work! She let out a huge exagerrated yawn/sigh at dinner that had both DH and I trying to cover our laughs, lol. She nearly always goes to bed easily and sleeps through, we're blessed that way, and last night was no problem, yay!
The sun is shining today. The work and assignments are still piled high for me to do, but I don't mind so much :)

Btw Martha how’s going with the moving business?
Last week (mon/tue) was the worse days of my being mum's life! Thomas was teething. And the worst part is no matter what I did his majesty wasn’t happy. And he doesn’t know TV/DVD etc (he never had any interest in those) yet so nothing could distract him from his misery! He’s back to his old normal self now, giggly and all. Just when my older brother who's an OB/GYn/Paed is here, gee I could get some free advices from him yeah?

Carpet and pee aren’t good combo Martha, whether you own it or not lol. Thomas had his occasional “reflux” and now our very own spunky house-(yes like Theresa’s thank God the bank doesn’t own it he he) has blotchy patterns here and there! (How do you get rid of them by the way?)
Lets hope next time he’s teething, it wont be as hard as those 2 days! :o
And I hope organising the moving, assignments, and Chloe are treating you well today :D

Hi Thomasmum. Yep, teething sucks doesn't it. The worst of it is that I never realised Chloe was cutting a tooth until afterwards, so I was always clueless as to why she was unsettled. The good thing is that it ends and we get our beautiful happy darlings back again. Chloe's a tv addict so I never have trouble distracting her at least. The problem is convincing her that she really doesn't need to watch the Tigger movie endlessly.
Lets see, how is life? Chloe and I have a cold, she's still clingy and easily upset, and one of the dogs is at the vet throwing up. So life is normal :) We have a long weekend here so you'd think I'd get ahead on assignments but of course I haven't. I'm on here instead :p
We've made a start on getting rid of junk in prep for moving but otherwise haven't done much. The garbage bin gave a satisfying solid "thunk" this morning when the truck emptied it. And we had 2 removal companies in to do a house survey last week for a quote. General consensus is that we have a lot of stuff. I wonder what the neighbours will think when the car transporter rocks up - we live on a very small cul de sac and I dont' think the truck will even fit!
As for vomit and carpet stains, I have a spot remover for our carpets that works like magic. I suspect that some of the stain is just being pushed deeper into the nap, and not really removed, but if I can't see it anymore that's good enough for me. 2nd choice is an area rug to cover the stained area, lol. Now if someone could just tell me how to get red pen off a painted wall without removing the paint I'd be set.
Hi Martha
Have you tried jif or one of the creme cleansers on the wall - I used it in desperation on crayon on my mother's wall and the paint stayed but the crayon left - worth a try!
We also have a lot of stuff despite moving every few years and throwing stuff out. Im not sure where it comes from?!
All is well in our little household today - the odd tantrum and screaming episode occurs but the kids are used to that from their mother! I have a day off work as our nanny is on leave and my husband is still away playing golf and we are enjoying our bonus day together so far!

Yay! I haven't tried this one yet. I've used sugar soap & Mr Clean for crayon so far, but the pen had me stumped. I'll try it out, thanks.

I blame my husband, his stuff is bigger (cars, engine blocks, 4 bikes... )
You always make me laugh Theresa. Enjoy your day off. I think Chloe is finally bored enough to go to the park with the dog, she was in a NO mood this morning
Thanks Martha - you make me laugh too!
4 bikes - have you pointed out to him that it is only possible to ride one at a time?!
I can't talk - DH has 4 sets of golf clubs and you can only swing one at a time - he is slightly obsessed, in case you hadn't worked that out!
Enjoy the walk!
