Hi All
Sorry for this long story but had to take it out somehow......
I have been feeding EBM (day feeds) and S26 Gold(1-2 nite feeds) to my DD who is 11weeks old now. Somehow breastfeeding (latching problem, bleeding nipples and stiches pain :banghead: ) and now expressing(due to poor milk supply) is not working for me . I have reached to that stage that i feel stressed about feeding and not enjoying my time with my little one. I feel horrible and guilty for not able to BF her and now not giving her quality time(coz i am so stressed about BF). So finally I have decide to put her on formula. Not sure though if my decision is right or i should give bf one more go....
whats the best formula for 11 week old. S26 suits her but i think it would be too heavy for tiny stomach if i go full time FF.
Also I have been using Nuby 96/2 S teats ( read it from the ring of the teat) but somehow these teats have disappeared from the shops and my DD is used to these ones. I have tried so many diff ones but she is not liking other teats and starts screaming or dozes off without the feed. Any suggestions whats the closest to those teats or how and what should i try as I am running out of her favourite ones...
sorry for :ecomcity: but just feeling too low :gloomy: :crying:

I think if you have been using that formula stick to it. If it seems to be causing constipation change brands (I would suggest Karicare, Nan, or heinz) I think you can still buy the Nuby teats at BabyCo. Have you looked online on the Tommee Tippee wesite maybe?

Don't feel bad about not BF/ing, it doesn't work for some and feeling bad about it will get you nowhere. Know that your baby will be fine as long as she is happy and gaining weight. Bf didn't work for me both times but that's just life. If you are getting upset about it every feed/ express session then you really need to look at getting some help via lactation consultant or FF or something else. I know it is heartbreaking but it isn't the end of the world that bf doesn't work. Life will go on. As long as your baby is being fed weather it be BM or Formula, it is going to make her grow. Try the TT website you may be able to order online.
Hope this helps.

Hi Vandy. Sorry can't help with the teats as I use Avent bottles.

RE the formula though, there is no reason at all why you can't keep using S26. In fact if bub is used to it and happy on it you would generally be advised to NOT change brands. When she does go to formula full time though, watch for constipation. It may not have been an issue when she was only having one or two bottles a day,but could happen when she has more.

And don't beat yourself up! Many of us can't breastfeed for whatever reason. The most important thing is that you aren't stressed and bub is fed and content! :hugs:

Like the other ladies have said, i wouldnt be changing the formula if you do go /have gone to FF. If you do have problems with it after then perhaps look at trying other sorts.

And do not be upset or beat yourself up over not being able to breastfeed. I had a lot of trouble getting ds to breastfeed (probably didnt help that no1 helped teach me how to get him to latch on properly but we wont go into that.) I lasted 5days (the total of the time we were in hospital) I only lasted that long because the staff made me feel very bad about not being able to do it. As good as BF is for a child its not the end of the world if they cant have it! My son is a very happy healthy boy! It doesnt matter if the are BF or FF so long as they are fed! And loved and cared for!

Do not feel like a bad mum!!!!!!:hugs::D Your doing a great job!:yelclap:

Thanks Lunar, Mrs Potts and Neeky :hugs:
I am feeling so much better after reading your posts. I was feeling really low and a bad mom but I forgot that BF is not the only thing that goes into bringing up these little angles :)
I am still giving her EBM and if I am low on supply give her Formula. I am not stressed about it anymore. Your posts really helped. Thanks a lot. :hugs:

I went through very much what you have described, only I decided to switch to full-time FF at 4 weeks after my second severe bout of mastitis.

I too am using S26 Gold, and have had no issues with it at all.

I suggest sticking to the S26, but if you feel it's not right, have a chat to your Dr or CHN.

I was actually able to continue BF my DD for 1 or 2 feeds a day up until my milk dried up just before DD turned 3 months old. It helped me come to terms with it a bit I think. She wasn't getting a lot from those feeds, but it was just enough to keep us both happy & let my poor body heal!

So glad to hear you are feeling better!! Please don't stress about it - my bub (as have millions of others) has thrived on formula.
