View Full Version : Clothes and cloth
Does this annoy the buggery out of anyone else?
I bought some gorgeous cargo pants for DS the other day, washed them and tried to put them on him this morning.
But...
I use cloth most of the time and couldn't get the pants over the nappy
This has happened a bit lately - is everything made on the assumption that our babies are in disposables all the time?

 seems to be the case
I put DD in disposables sometimes if she is wearing shorts to go out somewhere, if she's wearing a dress/skirt then I usually leave her in cloth.
DS was in disposables full time coz aside from the fact that I didn't have a computer back then and had not discovered bubhub or modern nappies, i couldn't find any clothes that would fit over cloth nappies...unless i got a size or 2 bigger but then they looked a bit silly.
I have found the same. I was given a whole pile of the cutest little outfits and I really struggled to get them on her in some of her bigger nappies. I have found the best way to make them fit is a super trim pocket. I had no worries when she was wearing them.

I have the same problem with DD2. I have bought size 2 bottoms for her but she ends up with these silly baggy shorts, and it looks like if she gets a gust of wind she will take off.
I have a couple of AIO's from the itti bitti nappy co and they make a big difference.
I put 00 bottoms and 000 tops on Hugh.
I put on 00 sleep suits at night. I pack all the cute sleep suits he was given that are 000 when we go away and I use disposables.

I have found the same but have noticed that the clothes I have brought from Target are generous in the bum..... So when (on the very rare occasion) I have my DS1 in a sposie sometimes the pant can be to big but fit nicely when I have him in cloth....
Go Target!!!! :yelclap:

I remember having a vent about his very topic when Hamish was a month or so old! It is so frustrating. i have taken the attitude that if a manufacturer is making clothes to fit 'sposie bottom's only, then I won't buy them-it's a great way to curb on the clothes buying!;)
Bubby's Baby Gap jeans are lucky to fit a SPOSIE under them. I think they think babies are freeballing under them or something.
Pumpkin Patch will fit a SMALL cloth nappy under them. A Greens has no chance.

Yeah that's what i do. Dakota is mainly in wondersuits at home so it doesn't faze me but when we go out it's a different story. I purchased trim nappies for going out in her good clothes for that purpose to fit underneath.
Fruitsalad pocket nappies are good for this

I agree they are a small make but Boof has a pair of camo pants & they fit his Greens quite easily :p
I have to admit though i think im pretty lucky in that most of the stuff i choose ive never had a problem with but also because Boof being so big im always getting the bigger size up to deal with his height so all my nappies fit well & then all i do at times is roll over the waist so they dont fall off as he isnt exactly that chubby.
I have some Swaddlebees which are really trim & we have no dramas with these at all ! :D

I cant get bella in her pumpkin patch jeans with a cloth nappy on, even her fuzzis poke out the top and are a bit tight in the bottom... no chance of a baby beehind.. its there own loss tho... i used to buy all there clothes from pumpkin patch and now cos of this i have to go elsewhere... they lose the money and I can always find cute clothes elsewhere
Im not a fan of the quality of kmart clothes AT ALL but the baby girls jeans are very generous for nappies

I just buy a size bigger!! Ella still wears all the cute stuff!!
Infact I always have had the problem with Connor (sposie boy) when I buy sets, the shirts fit but the pants fall off!!
At least with cloth I dont have that problem with Ella :p

dont you find they're too big then?? I cant do that for bella, she is not a small girl thats for sure but to buy the next size off they are way too big in length and the waistband.. so they fit the nappy but thats about it

Ahh yeah I did for a bit, but I would just roll the pants up.. but now that its warmer It's fine coz I can put her in shorts that look like 3/4 pants :p
I do admit... it can be a bit frustrating thats for sure!

This is one of my pet peeves. DH was dressing Matthew this morning and couldn't get his jeans up over his nappy so he ended up giving up and asking me to do it. I literally had to pick him up by the waist band and give him a few good shakes before the jeans went on properly. They should put zips or elastic or something in all pants so that we can all use them.

Can i just add that i also get most the kids clothes from Pumpkin Patch because they have adjustable waists. Calista (DD1) the skinny mini that she is i found that it was hard finding a pair of pants/jeans that wouldn't slip off her waist and she is tall too so it makes it even harder and with DD2 it fits over her big bum brilliantly. So i found Pumpkin Patch works for me for both these situations. Expensive but well worth it and cute line of clothing IMO.
Charmzy next time you go to PP have a look inside the pants/jeans

all the girls pp pants have the adjustable waist but it doesnt do the job... the waist isnt the problem, its the bum space in the fabric and the rise from crutch to waist... its just not big enough :S

Not even with a trim nappy ?
We really haven't had a problem. My baby has a skinny bum though. With GK and flats his nappy is above the pants though. I have just put away most of his size 0 clothes and he wears 1s now. My girl is chubbier and I remember having to put her suit on the top and not putting it on her legs. This is with flats. Now I put a suit on my baby in the same way with woolies as a cover over the nappy, for bedtime. I think with higher fashion they tend to be more tailored - yep tailored more for sposies. My boy is now tt and he is skinny and fits size 3 designer pants perfectly.
