View Full Version : How long after YOUR c/sec did.....
AF arrive? Just curious as to whether after having c/sec AF arrives earlier/later than a VB....

6 months, so far so good.
I don't think there will be much difference at all. Breastfeeding vs. Bottle feeding would probably show more of a difference

Mine arrived sooner than what it did with 1 of my previous VBs, i think my AF arriving depended on how often each one BF, not whether is had a CS or not....food for thought tho ;)

Well I am a bottle feeding mum and have been since DS was about 2 months old and I had a C-section and I got my AF after 9 months, yep, 9 months, the Dr said it sometimes takes this long.
Elective c/s, breastfeeding and had fairly regular cycles from the start, first one 6 weeks after birth.

I agree with what others have said about breastfeeding having an impact on the return of AF. Mine was about 7 months, but I think that it was the exclusive bf rather than anything to do with the caesar.

elective c/s bled for 4 weeks stopped for 2 and then got AF.
thought there was something SERIOUSLY wrong, it was like nothing ive ever had before, lasted 10 days (usually have 5), fresh RED blood (TMI SORRY), and was that heavy i was changing a maternity pad every couple of hours. ended up going and having an internal ultrasound (hmmm that was fun NOT!:o )
They said they couldnt find anything so it must have been AF.
after this i have had them every 28 days ... spot on back to normal:yelclap:

Yeah... I'll second that. Not a highlight of my life!

IMO, it has nothing to do with c-sec or vb...it has to do with breastfeeding or bottlefeeding.
Perhaps the lochia has something to do with either c-sec or vb though...(lochia is that afterbleed you get almost immediately after having your bub...).

1st C-sect bled for 14 weeks then AF returned 4 weeks later
2nd C-sect bled for 5 weeks.... no af but discovered I was 5 weeks preg when DD was 17 weeks
3rd csect - had implanon put in on day 3, bled until 6 weeks.... af kinda of returned at 10 weeks, have been spotting for the most part of the past 3 weeks
