Pucka base?

Hey everyone,

My Dh and I might be getting a posting to Pucka. Anyone else on here form there? what can u tell me about it and its surrounds???

I have lived at Pucka base for almost 2 years and really like it here. They have just built new houses and we were lucky enough to get one.

It is about an hour and a bit drive to Melbourne, and the same to Shepparton and Bendigo. The closest town is Seymour. It is fairly small, with a Bilo, Safeway and Target Country. I have managed to find a great doctor, dentist and hair dresser so its not too bad.

Pucka itself has a Frontline store, pool, movies, fish and chip shop and pizza place. There is also an ABC learning centre and a maternal health nurse here twice a week. She is lovely and its nice to not have to leave the base (there are security guards at the gate and you have to show ID to get in or out).

Finally, there are heaps of parks and places for the kids. We often get kangaroos emus in our front yards. You will get used to the noise from the range too - sometimes the windows rattle.

It's a good place for a family, safe and secure. You can leave the doors unlocked kinda place. Not so good if you are into the nightlife though.
