Has anyone ever had a flase positive?

I took a preg test thismorning. Im about 4-6 days away from AF. I put the test in the bathroom and went to feed my little one and what do you know... I FORGOT all about the test.

Went back 3 hrs later and its a v faint positive, but a positive for sure (same as 1st test i did for DD at about same stage)

I did this same test on sat and it was neg... i kept it and its still neg but i still have a feeling that this new positive is because i left the test too long? (ie im not pg!!)

Does this make sense? This is possible yeah? :confused:

it could be an evaporation line, or it could be a BFP... if it were me i would do another preg test with first morning urine tomorrow morning just to be sure.... good luck!

If the test line is JUST where the test line should be - then congratulations - your pregnant!

If the test line is a bit blurry and spreads out across the test strip, then it is more than likely an evap line...

My suggestion? Do another test tomorrow morning with FMU.

I've had heaps of false pos' in my lifetime. Mainly due to the small amounts of Hcg that can be detected by some HPT's. In saying that I've had 3 pos' in my lifetime, which has given me 2 beautiful children and another soon to be here in December. Good luck!!!:fingerscrossed:

Im not sure what to think. Im slightly freaking out :eek:

I will ofcourse check tomorrow and then every day till AF arives (if AF arrives?) haha

Now i just have to sneak out to the shops and get some tests without DF knowing. I dont want to bring it up and get his hopes up if its just a stuff up.

Ring the customer help line number on the packet too, they'll give you an idea of what might be going on.

I thought I had a false + but after speaking to customer help- the lady was lovely- I found out it's pretty rare.

if there is a chance it could be an evap line (which can happen if you leave the test too long) the instructions in the box will tell you not to read the test after, say 10 minutes or something.

Good Luck, but I would be testing again for sure before I got my hopes up too much (just dont forget to check the next one! :D )

ive had 2 false pos...the lines came up straight away and stayed but it wasnt a thick line like the control line and was darker one side...

not getting my hopes up thats for sure.

we kindof were trying this month (ie not using protection and had talked about it) but then i decided it was too soon and i wanted to wait till after march next year....

So mixed emotions kinda want it to be and kinda dont (having said that im just scared and ofcourse i will be over the moon if another beautiful baby came into our lives)

Will test again in the morning and WILL NOT forget about it this time, thats for sure!!

My biggest mistake with HPT's was that I thought that once the control line had come up the positive line should have showed up too if it was going to. So, I'd give up after a few minutes, rather than waiting the full 5 - 10 minutes. So, I didn't get a BFP til 3 days after AF was due. Then I dug out the old tests from the preceding three days and all were BFP's! So, tomorrow's test may not show up straight away, but if you are pregnant it will show up quickly within a few days!

What test were you using?? I had a faint line the other day from a fortel ultra but every test i've done since then. I have noticed though i then used fortel ultra again the other day and first response (the dip ones) this morning, but have noticed that if i leave them sit i too get a line. With the first response one this morning it was about 15 mins after i did the test the 2nd line showed up. I just figured that it was cause i let it sit too long. Although my friend had used these thought it was negative went back 45 mins later and was positive and she's now i think close to 8wks preg. So :fingerscrossed: for both of us that we too are pregnant!!! Since AF is due today i'll try the other one tomorrow and hope it comes up! Good luck, let us know how you go.

Most test instructions say o not read the test after 10 mins. I would take another one just to be sure, but I have never had a negative test change to positive before, even after several hours. I hope you are preggers!! :fingerscrossed:

Did you retest this morning?? How'd you go. My AF was due yesterday and got the faint line after the required time, but this morning i did another test and got a faint line within the 10 minutes!! Might try and get into doctor today and see what he says! :fingerscrossed: for the both us. Let us know how you go. Maybe we might be joining the due in june group together!

You never know maybe AF just won't show up. I've had negatives all week. That's why i'm not getting too excited bout this one just in case! I do have a doctor's appt at 1.50 this afternoon, so hopefully he'll do BT's and settle it for me! But god are my nipples sore!! Sorry TMI!! And really really bad heartburn last night that i only really got when i was pregnant with Ethan. Anyways, let you know!

Well got a blood test done this afternoon so will know around 2pm tomorrow afternoon. Maybe they might get the results early and ring me! Still not pinning my hopes on it though!

Rant all you want. The first one i did was a fortel ultra last tuesday, and thought i got a really really faint positive. But think my eyes might have been playing tricks on me. Then all week i was getting negatives. What the??? The test i did this morning was first response the dip ones! But past week used first response (the pee on a stick ones!) fortel extra and first response dip ones. Hoping that because they were different i'd get a +'ve. Maybe when you get closer to AF you will get a BFP! I too have had the cramping for probably the last week. The 1st day that (well was getting it more at night) were strong like AF but i only usually get AF pains the night before AF is due so i figured it wasn't that. It's really wierd nipples are only sore at certain times of the day! Some times they really sort of sting other's there fine!! TMI!!

Anyway, :fingerscrossed: for both of us. I'll let you know how i go tomorrow afternoon.

yeah i know what ya mean!! the only ones ive used are the cyrstal clear ones and a hospital one that they had there (it was square shaped, different, but really good one!) they worked well for me! hope you find out soon at the doctors! :fingerscrossed:

Hi all, I am new to this forum thing so bear with me.
I had a BFP on a crystal clear test last week. I was freaking out as my youngest is only 16 weeks and that was a little too close for comfort. :eek:Went to Dr and had blood test which came back neg. If I were you I would be getting a blood test - then you know for sure.

I think im just going to have to admit defeat on this one.... I feel silly to hope that the tests are wrong. (my mind is chanting "maybe its too soon!" LOL)

I just cant really believe it. I have everything EXACTLY the same as when i was preg with DD.

Cramping from o,pain in the right side (i remember thinking for SURE that my last pg was etopic cos of this pain) being so hot for a couple of nights (i know this sounds silly but i remember v early 1st pg i would be sooo hot and DF would be snuggling up under the doona while i was totaly uncovered, same thing this week), sore boobs, my boobs look fuller, im moody and i just feel that certain sickness every now and then- espicially after eating.

Ive never had all this before. I get cramps a day or 2 before AF and thats it! Why is my body doing this to me!?!?!?

I now fully understand all those posts i read on pg sites about people being sure that this month is it when infact its not :crying: your body sure has a way of convincing you!

The waiting is ridiculous!! Although i'm getting some AF type cramps tonight i am so hoping they don't turn up, not until at the least i get the BT results! No, he didn't do a wee test, just blood. Which doesn't worry me, cause it's going to be more accurate anyway!

Glad i'm not the only one that's been feeling hot too. I mean the weather's been pretty warm here anyway, but god have i been feeling it! I'm still keeping my :fingerscrossed: for you. I have read that confirm can be pretty good and accurate. I have never used them before AF is due but i'm that's what i used when i tested with Ethan.
