Hi there,
I'm a mother of one and first year Bachelor of Midwifery Student at Southern Cross University looking to link up with women having babies on the Gold Coast, QLD. Preferably due by December, but Jan/Feb is ok too. As a student, I would join you at a minimum of 3 antenatal appointments, 3 postnatal appointments and hopefully (with your permission and only if you are completely comfortable with it) your labour and birth. It would be an absolute privilege to be present for your experience and my hope is that it would be enriching for all involved.
If you are interested or have any questions please reply to this post or contact the SCU Midwifery Continuity Coordinator on:
Phone: 0400 079 322 or 0427 375 150
Email: continuity@scu.edu.au
Quoting Student Name Julie V. (First Year)
Looking forward to meeting you soon!
Kind Regards,
Julie

Hi Julie,

I hope you don't mind me replying to this thread. I'm not actually looking for a student mid to follow me through (been there done that ;) ) but I'm hoping you might be able to give me some info about SCU's BMId? I'm thinking of putting it as my second preference (after Griffith BMid) and I just wanted to know a bit about the course structure. EG: how many days a week on average are you on campus? And do you do your clinical placement in blocks or weekly? Also how many follow-throughs do you require over the 3 year degree? What are your thoughts on the degree overall? IS the Uni very supportive?
Sorry to fire all these Q's at you. I just haven't been able to find anyone who's doing SCU's BMid to ask.

Thanks :)

Tamara
