Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My nearly 3 year old had very bad reflux when he was born and got used to me holding him 100% of the time. He no longer has reflux but I am still feeding him to sleep, he sleeps with me and is constantly on and off the breast all night. I do not want him to cry as this has been his comfort and it is all he knows. I did try the sleep centers when he was younger but left early as I felt sick letting him cry. I do not have any support from his dad and will have to do this by myself. I was trying to perservere until I was able to reason with him and I have spoken to him about no more boobie but he says no! Not sure how to handle it as I am a bit soft and know I can't do the whole put him in his room and let him cry like everyone keeps telling me to do. Has anyone been through this, he is a bit too old for the breast anymore. thanks.

I can highly recommend Dr Jay Gordons technique http://drjaygordon.com/attachment/sleeppattern.html - very gentle and very realistic ...

I personally haven't used it but a few on here have with great results ...

I second this. We did this with my 19 month old over the last 7 days.ere was some complaining the first night he was talked to sleep instead of rocked- but not a lot of tears- just saying no, mummy, up, milks) first night was hardest it took awhile for him to sleep, but he wasnt in distress and we were there the whole time. Its been 7 nights and we have had one night wake night before ladt. I posted a thread on it in this section f u want to read what we did, we modified dr gordons approach.

It was very successful.

Thanks for your reply I have ordered the no cry sleep solutions bk from the library. It sounds like it will be a long week but at least gentle. Thanks for your advice and well done on your success!
