View Full Version : Daylight Savings & Toddlers
Hi there
Now tell me, is there anyone out there who has mastered this transition!! We have a 14 month old DS who struggled big time with the autumn time change but this one is the good one hey, they may sleep in rather than wake at 5am! Do you slowly transition - eg creep the bedtime back 15 mins a night for a few nights before the clocks change or just stretch them out that extra hour the night of the change?
I am hoping this transition is smoother than the last!
Thanks
Lisa

Hi Lisa
I stretch my kids out in one hit. I couldn't be bothered with the 15 minutes for a few nights beforehand!! It might take a couple of days for them to get used to going to sleep in daylight though (my 4yo goes to bed at 7pm and my 2 1/2 yo goes to bed about 7.30/8.00 because he has a sleep during the day).
Good luck!

we woke bubba and fed him yesterday at old time 7 new time 8 because that is when he normally eats.the rest of the day went as normal:smiliedance: He even went to sleep as normal.
My ds normally goes to bed at 7:30pm as he doesn't have a day sleep anymore, but i put him to bed at 8:30 last night, being day light savings he probably won't go to bed his usual time. still wakes up at 6:00 in the morning though.:banghead:
We woke at 8 this morning which used to be 7 - Everything so far is an hour off since yesterday like nap times etc - morning nap since an hour later now throws out lunch a bit - Im sure we'll adjust lol

I put Hayley to bed at 8pm ever night when its NOT d/s and put her to bed around 8:15 to 8:30pm when it IS d/s, she woke up a little earlier today (about half an hour earlier) but half an hour is nothing, guess I'm just lucky. :D

I don't change anything, i stick to their normal nap and bed time routines and i haven't had any problems with them both adjusting to the time changes

My kids just go down at the same time, around 7pm, no later than 7:30pm and no problems! They got up about half an hour later than normal tho and Savannah... being 4 months I wasn't sure how she would go with the change to feed time but we fed her on the new time but at the normal time.. and she ended up sleeping 2 hours longer than normal! SUCCESS lol
