Welcome :) sometimes its hard understanding what your entitled to and especially with the supplements.... Lost count how many threads there are about it with people asking the same questions. So a page that explains it in a centrelink benefits for dummies style would help hahaha!
Sounds good.
I'd go as far to say that it is ALWAYS hard understanding what you're entitled to!
So so so confusing!!

Maybe a friend finder part? Can post adds of where we are from, kids ages, whether we would like playdates/nights out etc. Also anything to help save money! Like sale info, and price comparisons on nappies, wipes etc.
help about childcare...i had no idea until a friend told me that i had to put DS's name down at centres pretty much when i got a BFP...he's still on wait lists (it's been over a year) and i go back to work in sept
also what rebates/benefits are out there for ppls - in simple terms re: childcare, family tax benefits etc

I love this idea too. Its hard posting in our area as no one is ever in there or checks so doesnt get many people (if any) would love a friend finder part
I suggested this a while ago to a few people, but they really didn't like the idea of their postcode info being made available to all, for example.
If you look on the nav bar, there's a 'friend's finder' tab. You can go to the full members list there and search the members list. But, atm, there's nothing to search on other than name.
What sort of thing would you like to be able to search on? Suburb, postcode, geographical stuff. Or interests? We might be able to make some extra fields that are searchable that members only need to populate if they are happy for that info to be made available to other members.

Would love more info on local activities for kids, particularly for different age groups.

Hi Jensen - check out the activities directory here. http://www.bubhub.com.au/activitiesdirectory.php We are revamping this with the intention of integrating it better with the forum too so that it's easier for you all to find out what's going on and what there is to do. In the meantime, that link should help a little. Most of the activities listed are aimed at kids preschool and younger.
Re a Friends Finder...
I like the idea of a special section where you can place a notice that you are looking for friends so that those who are particularly interested in this can put that out there and others with similar interests and location can respond.
That might be better than making something like member postcodes searchable because some members like to stay anonymous or private.
What is the Friends Finder notice appeared in the right hand column (under the ads) so that they were more prominent and not lost in the multitude of threads?
wdyt?
(not yet saying that bhtech could work his magic to do that, but it's a germ of an idea :))

We're going to work on that.
In the meantime, mummy2Luca posted that there aren't usually many members in her local forum section. Does everyone know that you can subscribe to a whole forum - so you could, for example, subscribe to the North Perth forum and receive daily or weekly emails of what's been posted in there. You wouldn't have to subscribe to individual threads or have to remember to visit that section everytime you are online.
If you did that, you'd never miss out on a party invite or playgroup opportunity in North Perth, for example.
Do viewers know about that feature of our forum - or have we managed to keep that a secret?? Would making a splash about that feature so that everyone knows help with finding local friends too? Is that feature almost enough to help with the issue of finding local friends (or friends with similar interests)?

ohh i like the idea of putting the friends finder updates beside the ads.
Or as you said if we all subscribed to the entire group in our local area (bubhub you have kept this a secret :p) maybe you could also for the next few weeks put an update at the top of the page (where you currently have arcade info) to remind people to do it and link the start of the area, possibly even run a small competition (maybe an outting for a few people and kids in each local city can be won or something?) and you enter the comp by subscribing to our local groups (i dont know if you get updates about us subscribing so not sure of the logistics of it)
Great post mummy2Luca - going to discuss that in the office this morning and see what we can come up with.
