Canberra is my hometown, not a heck of a lot to do apart from Parliament House and the Memorial etc but it's freaking cold - take lots of woolies :)

Parliament House is wonderful if you're into politics, the art gallery, erm... yeah  it's a pretty small place!

it's pretty chilly down here atm, we've got snow on the mountains atm. yeh not much to do down here though...the art gallery is good, and if ur comin here with kids then questacon is great...if ur bringin ur car then you could drive out to some parks that are around the place - weston park is great - lots of roo's around there...also you can goto the mint, and u used to be able to watch them make coins etc (not sure if they still let you watch)...in the city there is a carousel in the mall, 1 shopping centre (quite large)...umm there's some factory outlets in fyshwick

can't think of anything else atm...

btw - there are some great restuarants in the city...if you like chinese: sammy's kitchen, indian: blue ginger and italian: tosalini's

Hi.
At the moment it's freeeezing down here!!! For the month of July there is a outdoor ice skating rink in the city for families. There is a cafe and skate hire and ice skating shows at night. It looks lovely. Questacon is awesome too as someone already mentioned. Shopping is always a winner also ;)
Have a great time while you're here.

I enjoyed Black Mountain Tower and the Zoo when I was there.

The national museum is great, lots of quirky displays, lots of stuff from our lifetime too :)

The national film and sound archives are also good.

Bring a very warm coat!

today is soo cold, the wind is coming straight from the snow I reckon. bring coats, beanies, gloves, etc.

For kids you could try - zoo/aquarium (pick a warm day), war memorial (my 3 yo loves seeing the planes and helicopters), questacon, national museum. One of the indoor play gyms. Most shopping centres have school holiday activities - here in gungahlin we have spongebob appearing all this week. There is also a place you can do glass blowing, which would be fun for older kids. Black mountain tower. Cockington green is a miniture village. On Thursday they are doing steam train rides out to Queanbeyan, which is lots of fun, we did this last school holidays. And the ice skating rink as someone already mentioned is here all July.

If you are without kids, as well as some of the above, also the gallery, parliament house, climb mt ainslee, walk around the lake (rug up!). Lots of nice restaurants in the city.

I disagree with others, there is lots more to do here than just parliament house!
