Well I am finally going to set aside some time and write by birth story!
Around the 13 September I started getting a few little niggling pains in my stomach. They were on and off for about two days so I didnt think much of them... just had my fingers crossed hoping something would happen soon.
Early friday morning (15 September) my niggling pains were coming quite often and was hoping they would go away so I could try and get back to sleep. At around 5.17 am my little niggling pains got quite stronger. I quickly looked at the alarm clock and thought I should start timing them, just in case. At around 5.50am I decided that it was definatley the real thing and woke DP up... I said "are ya gonna get up", he looked at me and thought the alarm hadn't gone off for him to go to work. I then said "ah, don't think you are going to work today". DP then quickly got up and helped me finish pack my bag, called the hospital and family to let them know what was happening.
At around 6.15am I got the girls up and dressed and called Rell (a really good friend who I met through Bub Hub) to see if she could look after the girls... and of course she could.... Thanks Rell
At around 6.20am contractions were around 3 mins apart so double checked I had everything and headed off to drop the girls off.
Around 7.20am we quickly stopped in at a servo to pick up a film... told DP I wasn't going to the hospital without one...
At 7.40am we were at the hospital. I was put into an Assessment room for what felt like an eternity (Later found out by DP that it was only 20 minutes)
At 8.10am I finally got moved into the birthing suite. My contractions were now around 1 and half minutes apart. The nurse did an internal to check how far dilated I was..... 6cm :smiliedance:
At around 8.30am I hopped in the shower on the birthing ball... the hot water felt fantastic!
At 9.15am I got off the birthing ball as my contractions were getting really strong and went and knelt down beside the bed. The midwife came and put the doppler on my tummy to check bubs heartbeat.... couldn't find it. She kept moving it around everywhere, I was getting so scared and then she found it. It was the biggest relief!
For the next hour or so DP said I drank bout 2 litres of water and he rubbed my back. Poor thing didnt have much choice cos there was no way he was stopping!
At 10.30am my contractions were getting really strong and had lots of pressure. The midwife got the gas organised for me and set it on low. At 11.00am I told the midwife I will needed to push soon so she went and got another midwife to see if I was ready.
At 11.15 Audrey said bub was ready and talked to me about breaking my waters.
At 11.24am my waters were broken. A couple of pushes and his head was coming out. Melissa had to call Audrey over to help straighten his head a little as he came out... it felt like it was taking longer to push out the head than with the girls. Later found out from DP that Melissa had to try and keep him in there until Audrey came over to help... and here I am trying to push against her :banghead:
At 11.32am my little boy was born. :smiliedance: DP cut the cord and he was put straight onto my tummy. I had the needle to deliver the placenta.
I was told by the nurse that I had to stay on the bed for atleast an hour, just to check blood loss etc. Little Jacob and I were covered in nice warm blankets.
I then had my shower and Jacob went and got weighed and had his first bath. He was 6lb 3oz (2810g), 50cm and hc 34cm.
He is a great little boy... very quiet. He has two big sisters who love him to bits. They give him lots of kisses and cuddles and love to help as much as they can.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story, thanks again to Rell who looked after my girls, and BIG thanks to DP for all his back rubs, many trips fetching me the water and help around the house when we got home... love ya.
