Hi guys! Its been a while since my last posting, but here goes. Last time I was up on the board I had just discovered my hcg had soared - telling me that my week of bleeding wasn't a missed miscarriage, but implantation...

The last week I have had 4 blood tests;
Wednesday hcg 437
Friday hcg 710
Monday morn hcg 1397
Tuesday night hcg 2137

I had an u/s on Wednesday and they couldn't see a sac. I had another u/s yesterday and STILL they couldn't see the sac. And today yet ANOTHER u/s and you guessed it - no sac in sight. I have had an ectopic 3 months ago which resulted in my left tube being removed and so all thoughts were that its probably an ectopic pregnancy but possibly an intra-uterine pregnancy. What the?!? I have soaring hcg levels but no one can see my baby!

The dr that I saw today was the one who removed my tube last time and he seems to think that the sac may be hiding in the 'left horn', in other words, the little stump of tube that I have left on my left hand side. He described it as the sac being in the 'doorway' of my tube and uterus - in otherwords its a 50/50 chance that it could 'fall' into my uterus as it grows... Otherwise its just going to rupture whats left of my tube which has apparantly been removed (??)

So now I have to have another u/s next Wednesday to see if they can find the sac. I am already 6 weeks 2 days and by now the sac should be easily identifiable!!! Oh-so-anxious....

Now - after ALL that - can someone please tell me this is normal!?!?!?!?

Im sorry about what's happening to you. Unfortunately I cant help you with this situation. All I can do is tell you that I'm thinking of you and hope that everything is alright. I have heard of a pregnancy with a sac but no embryo on the inside, but I haven't heard of what's happening with you.
Im sorry that I havent been of any help to you. Again i will say that I'm thinking of you.

Ally

I have heard that if you have a tilted uterus, then it can make it harder to see anything during ultrasound.
Sorry, but that's the only thing I can think of. I really hope that it's just hiding, and that both of you will be fine.
My fingers and toes are crossed for you, and please let us know how you go.

GOOD LUCK

Me too! I am trying to keep optimistic and think that our little one is going to love to play hide-and-seek!

They haven't mentioned anything after 3 ultrasounds (all internals) that I have a tilted uterus - perhaps thats being kept on the quiet?

maybe you should just ask whether you have a tilted uterus? I don't think that ultrasound technicians really put any stock into the theory about it making it harder to see, so they may not say anything. I have heard of this happening a couple of times. Not to me though (and I'm not a doctor!). I just thought it may be a possibility.
Just wondering, when you have an ectopic, do your HCG levels go up normally?
GOOD LUCK

In an ectopic pregnancy your levels do go up normally but then they stop all of a sudden. Last time I was 5 weeks 6 days and I only had a hcg level of 80! My dr should have picked up then and there that something was wrong!

Thank fully I have a new dr who is absolutely lovely! After all this is over and I'm past the first trimester I think I will buy her a nice bunch of flowers or something!

But yeah - the hcg levels in an ectopic will go up but then stop. As far as I know, the levels stop going up when the baby stops having room to grow - when its in the tube there is only so much space before the tube ruptures causing internal bleeding, in which case it can be potentially life-threatening for the mother as well.

Thus why I am so anxious that they cant find the sac!!!

Ally - what a nerve-wracking situation!! But I'm so pleased that you're staying positive. I'm thinking good thoughts for you, and have everything crossed that bub will pop up in the right spot next week.

Thank you! I think that I will ask about whether or not I have a tilted uterus. I'm sure that if I did it would have been mentioned by now - but it never hurts to ask.

Chat soon!

Have they done a normal ultrasound or an internal ultrasound. I've found that with internal (vaginal) ultrasounds there is often more clarity.
