We're taking Bella to the doctors tomorrow but hoping to get some help now.
Her left ear is just oozing out gunk! About 5 days ago we noticed the inside of her ear was all crusty and yuck but since yesterday morning its been oozing so much! We're booked in for doctors tomorrow but if anyone knows what causes it please help!
Its got to be an infection of some description but I've never experienced this before with the other kids!
I've been cleaning it but not sure how I SHOULD be going about it because im worried ill be hurting her :S
Any tips?
Also, in her bath last night she absolutely SCREAMED when her we rinsed her hair off.... I realise now this was probably her ears hurting... do u think this is the case? tonight we kept her head out of the water when rinsing.
thanks in advance

My guess would be some infection .. but hey, I'm no expert. If she's in pain, you may want to give her some panadol, but I wouldn't want to do anything else until you've seen the doc. The other option if it's really bad is trying the Health Direct line,
Hope Bella feels better real soon :hugs:

Is it really fluidy and flouro green looking (best description i could think of :o )? DD2 got this from water getting in her ears at bath time etc. The doc said to get some of that ear-drying stuff (like swimmers use?) to dry them out afterwards, and i also bought some little plug things to stop it getting in as much. Best to go to the docs and get it checked out though, you can never be too careful.
Hope that's all it is though, and that she gets better soon....

My DS had this once and it turned out that his eardrum had burst. (It looked like he had gone to sleep on some cornflakes and they had stuck to his head).
My GP told me that once the eardrum burst, the pain goes because there is no more pressure. I wouldn't be putting anything into the ear because there is a chance that you will push stuff further in, making it worse.
I use a heat bag for my son when he has sore ears. Seems to help.
Good Luck.

I agree, it sounds like she has an infection and the ear drum has burst. This happened to Brooke when she was a few months old. I hope the Dr can give her something for it.

Aw, poor bubby! :hugs: What actually causes that to happen (to burst)?

Apparently its quite common in babies in toddlers, when they get a really bad ear infection for it to burst. Shes been sick on and off for a wihle now and last checkup her ears were a bit red but not really infected... now this :S when they burst gunk almost explodes out of them :S
