Hello all,
I'm 41 and I have a five year old, and am expecting another in October.
Sadly, not in Sydney, but just wanted to say: NOT IVF.
The old fashioned way: DRUNK!
Actually, my grandmother had three kids in her forties, the last at 46.
Presumably this was closely followed by menopause.....

Hi There.
Im 30 but my DH is 43 and we have a 9mth old bundle of delight!
Can I ask a question... we want to put off baby no 2 until DS is around 2.5 - 3 for babys arrival which means DH will be hitting the 45 mark... what are your thoughts on this... Is that pushing it age wise?
He is very young at heart, but he worries about the fact that he only has another 15 years in the workforce and we will have a 15 y/o still in school!
I guess in this life though you never know what is around the corner either!

were thinking of having bub number 3 i will be 40 in nov hubby will be 41 in oct. it took us 14 yrs to have our 1st. he will be 6 this yr and 2nd will be 3 soon too. so imo i dont think so. speak to your dr health wise.
cheers static_cat.
DH has very regular check ups with his Dr for all the usual, colestoral, blood pressure, skin etc etc
I have spoken with my OB and he shrugs and thinks nothing of it, conception wise he says my age/eggs are fine. But hey, he probably wants a new sports car, so he wants me to have more babies!! :)

sorry thats a crack up about the sports car. if everything is fine i dont see a problem as longer as you both happy and on the same page. we wouldve liked ours earlier but fate had other reasons. but so happy we have them now.
Hi manny Liscia here, well it's 90% we won't have another bub but we do have a spare egg! I'm happy with one my HB is 44 yrs if we have another we won't b able to do more traveling. I guess u need to write pros and cons and weigh it up!! Let me know how u go.

Thanks liscia. I'm talking to my OB about having the Mirena inserted at the end of this month. That will have me on permanent contraception for another year, then I might be ready to ttc #2. if we have 1 we can give her so much. But I would like to give her a little sister too. I loved pregnancy & birth etc! So I'm certain on there being a number 2!
I need to sort out the contraception tho because DH is ok if we accidentally fall pregnant now!! And I'm not!

Hi all,
I just turned 42 and I'm 11 weeks pregnant!
We started late, couldn't get pregnant, got some help and then lost 3 angel babies before having our DD (at age 36) now 5 and then our DS (at age 38) he'll be 4 in Sept.
We thought we might be pushing out luck to keep trying for our much wanted 3rd child but I got pregnant again and we lost this angel baby in Jan 2010.
I am now busting to tell everybody that I am 11 weeks pregnant again and (fingers crossed) all seems to be going well.
My DS, my last angel and this (touch wood) young wigglebum were all natural conceptions.
I can't believe my luck!
My DH and I are very (nervously) thrilled.
:hugs:
Congratulations Linda! All the best to you for this pregnancy :babydust1::goodvibes:

I just wanted to say thanks for the well wishes and...
There was a time in my life of TTC that (although I would always be happy for someone who found themselves pregnant with a much longed for baby) I would suffer with mixed emotions when hearing their good news. Sadness, Envy, Anger (why not me)
So to those still longing - I hoped that posting this message might offer some hope to those needing some.
Good luck to all...

hi, I'm 42...woo hoo - :(
from perth, three children DS 7, DD1 6 and DD2 3. DH is 45.

it took hubby and i over 14 yrs to have ds1.
so anything is possible.
well girls xox
well girls, Im booked in next week to have my Mirena IUD inserted.
Im definately decided that I will wait to have #2, and planning for DD1 to be around 3 by the time the next one arrives..... I hope we fall easily :fingerscrossed:
I really enjoyed my pregnancy experience, birth and newborn and developing stages with DD1 and I want to be able to do that with no2.... with DD1 being that bit older and more independant, feeding herself, out of nappies - and hopefully settling easier!!
So, no TTC for us for about a year! DH will be about 45 by the time we get to no2! Ohwell, thats just the way it is!
Hope everyone is travelling well x

Had my last scan at 11+1/2 weeks. "All good" "strong heartbeat" "can't get more normal than that"
Sadly.......
I had another scan (12+1/2weeks) yesterday...
They tried so hard to find our precious baby's heartbeat...... Gone!
I'm so crushed.
This is our 5th loss and possibly our last opportunity so I'm feeling the sadness of that as well.
Anyone had babies over 42? I'll take any hope I can get.
Linda

Got a call from my Dr today. He had results from the testing they did after my D&C.
I had a baby boy..... but he didn't survive, most likely due to the fact he had Downs Syndrome.
I guess at least I have a reason this time.
Just still hurts so much that I can't hold him in my arms

I'm 45 and my DH is 44, we have a 9 month old son. I would love to have another but not sure if the clock has had its last tick. We have a lovely DS who is our miracle baby that we thought we would never have. Maybe I'm being greedy wanting another but I would not sure if the body will accommodate though.
Hopefully my age will inspire some that it can happen.

Hi Everyone,
I turned 40 in December (just like 39 really :)) and have two DS's... almost 3 and 8 months old. Had I known how much I would love having kids, I would have started much earlier and had another 1 or even 2! I did suggest to my 40 yo DH that I would love another but his response... 'No Way!!' and off he went for 'the procedure' I just loved, loved, loved being pregnant, feeling my bubbies moving and was lucky enough to have two very straight forward births, resulting in gorgeous happy boys. I even got to deliver my 2nd born myself due to a little mis-timing  Every now and then I just long for another baby, but I'm sure I'll get over it some time.
Anyway, I too am the oldest mummy in our playgroup (but ever so young at heart :) )
Am very much enjoying my boys before I have to go back to work... unless I can think of a way to earn $$ from home so that I don't have to!
I am 43 with a 20 month old son. Everyone said "Lucky you got that just in time":( I am too scared to tell them I would like another!
My hubby and I have not used contraception since 2007 so nature is telling us it aint going to be easy.
Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here for ages. I am almost 48, have a 22 month old Son, an 8 yo & 13 yo daughter
I used to come on here considering IVF so we could have another. Then at 46 I fell pregnant naturally! Could not believe our luck!
Never give up on your dream, if u really want another child speak up! We were so lucky, and now have our precious Son who is the light of our lives! He is so special! And perfect in every way. :smiliedance:

Hi
I'm 42 and found out last week that I'm 7 weeks pregnant, due 26th Sept. It was a bit of a shock as we were both told we couldn't have kids 10 years ago and gave up trying soon after.

Hi all, can I join in?
I am 39 (well only for a few more days), turning 40 on saturday (25th Feb). I got a BFP on valentines day, so I'm only just pregnant. DH and I both have children from previous relationships but this is our first together.
I am so happy to have found this thread because I've looked at other people's ages in their signatures and some are 10-20yrs younger and I was starting to feel all alone being this age and having a baby.

Can I join in too? We conceived number one naturally at 34, but number two needed IVF, we suffered through two miscarriages to get here and feel very lucky to be pregnant. I'm 31 weeks right now and really feeling exhausted - not sure if its because I am so much older, or because this is number two? Just hope this little guy is okay (I'm having another boy :cheerleader2:). Anyway, I'd love to chat with other Mums, especially those juggling a school aged kid with a baby . Its going to be an interesting year!

Good to see some activity here. Well I'm now 34wks and starting to absolutely panic as it gets closer. This pregnancy has not gone without its problems so I'll be just glad when it's finished and I have bub in my arms. Is anyone here on the Goldie, would love to make contact as I don't have any friends here and am really starting to miss it.

Hi everybody! Well I've been pretty busy since bub arrived - can't believe he's nearly five months! Am having to wean him because he's cut two teeth and has given me mastitis twice , midwife said it was time to go on the bottle. He's started solids too - such a hungry little fella! Anyway I saw this article today and thought others might like to read it too, great to see some good news about older mothers: http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/health/older-mothers-take-a-bow-study-finds-your-children-get-better-start-20120917-262po.html

Im 43, almost 44 and 8 weeks oregnant, wow
Congratulations! First bub?
Hi everyone!
I'm 49 in march and have 3 kids. I had first at 34, second at 38 and our third ( natural conception) at 47. It can happen!
I am in Far North Qld.
Just read 'trying for two's post. I don't think you have received very good advice about putting your almost 5 month old on the bottle.
It is definitely no reason to put them onthe bottle just because they have 2 teeth and you have had mastitis!
Can't believe the bad advice given sometimes! Please contact the Australian Breastfeeding Association for correct advice. So sad that someone has told you this. Breastmilk is recommended by the World Health organisation for at least 2years and beyond. NOTHING can replace the health benefits breastfeeding provides for your baby! Not even formula!!
Hope you have received the right advice by now and have someone who can support you! You CAN go back to breastfeeding after weaning if you choose.
Sorry for rambling on. I hate mums being given the wrong advice. There is no way a baby can give you mastitis either by the way.

Thanks mum47. I just had a 10 week scan last Friday as I was spotting and quite worried. But all excellent, very active bubba with heart rate of 180 bpm. Have my pic stuck on the fridge...next milestone 12 weeks. We had a miscarriage at 6 weeks which we found out at the 12 week scan earlier this year and heart broken, but fell pregnant again fairly quickly. So I have been quite anxious this time round.
Hope that weeks to 12 week scan go quickly Preciousone....sorry to hear about the miscarriage and can imagine that you are anxious now. My levels of anxiety have gone through the roof with this pregnancy and yes, you just have to go from one milestone to the next. My next one is 25 week scan on Thursday. :)

All the best with the scan Mum47. It's such a nerve racking time..especially those early days, and I think it's probably the best breaking it down into those milestones. I've still got away to go until I feel I'm out of the danger zone...or does it never feel that being older?
Babykins, I am not that far from you...I live in the Shire.
Preciousone....the anxiety definitely seems worse now that I am older and also carrying the twins. I had to even see a psychologist to help manage contractions which would not stop from 16 weeks. All under control now. To answer your question, yes I do think that now I definitely feel out of the danger zone. I am sure that you feel a whole lot better once you have had your NT scan. Just getting to each and every milestone really helps...
Ooh I live in the shire too! I'm 41 with a 3.5 year old. Congratulations on your pregnancies ladies, hopefully it will all be smooth sailing from now on!! I know its hard not to be anxious, I know I was. I didn't find out I was pregnant until 19 weeks  I'd been thinking it may be menopause up to then
