DD is almost 11months has wont drink Formula at all during the day. All she wants is water (Which i dont mind giving her at all). Then at night she will keep waking for milk.
She has always been a good sleeper but since she has stopped drinking her day bottles she wakes alot during the night.
So i was thinking i might give her some cows milk during the day and see how she goes with that.
How young is to young for cows milk... i know they say wait till 12 months. She isnt far off.
Have you given any in her cereal or cooking yet?? Maybe try that first, but 11 months is fine, I plan to start DS2 a little earlier like 10 or 11 months mainly because he is going off his formula and he eats fine so I know that he is getting all his nutrients. I have also known people to start bubs at 9 months.
I started Dd on cows milk at 11months and she finally started to thrive. She had always had a lot of trouble putting on weight simply because she hated the taste of formula. If you are concerned about the nutrients(vitamins and mineral sthey add to formula) you can give her the Pentavite drops. But i only gave these when Jazz wasnt eating a great deal of solids. But she is great now and she has caught up in her weight which im sure wouldnt have been the case if she stuck with formula.
I started Wy on Cow milks full strength at 11 months too. He caught a bad dose of tonsillitus and would not eat or drink anything bar the cows milk and we needed to get SOMETHING into him for the antibiotics to work.
It funny, they recommed the age you start now is 12 months, but when I was a baby, it was 6 months. Times change LOL!

Thanks guys. She eats plenty of solids and gets heaps of calcium through yoghurt, cheese ect.
Ill give her some cows milk and see how we go... hopefully it will help her sleep better :fingerscrossed:
Is it bad to bypass cows milk and go onto soy or rice milk?
She is old enough for cows milk..my kids all started cows milk about then as the were all eating and having it on their weetbix by that stage.it all depends on the child though.my friends child was allergic and had to have soy milk or goats milk.So it all depends on the childs ability to tolerate it.

soy milk isnt recomended till about 2 and rice milk isnt recomended till 5.check the label it says it on most packs :)
my ds had cows milk for about 3 weeks till he got gastro and then was later diagnosed lactose intolerant. i started putting the cows milk in his food from about 10 months and then at 11 months he had half of his daytime bottles as formula and the rest were cows milk then gradually he had all cows milk bottles. now he cant have dairy :(
Is there an alternative to milk if I cant breast feed until 2yo?:fingerscrossed:
Sorry... without going onto formula that is:thumbsup:
Goats milk is often recommended as a good alternative to cow's milk and formula once children are over one if they are no longer breast fed.
Thanks for the reply! :hugs:
I am a vegan so an animal milk would not be an option ( unless of course there is not another alternative with the same nutritional benefits )...
Im not sure  what I would do now. :fingerscrossed: I can breast feed until he/she is 4 lol:yelclap:
Just got your reply in the other thread.:)
Excellent - thanks for that! :hugs:
I will do a search now... see I am a complete idiot when it comes to this kind of stuff - hence why I am terrified that I am going to screw something up! :banghead:
Thank goodness for BH! :smiliedance:
