From 6mths is fine and my health clinic nurse told me the following to test for allergy prior to feeding egg's to bub (rub a little egg on bub's inner-arm and see if the skin react's - takes a couple of hours) - worth trying!
I found scrambled egg the best introduction for my two, they loved it!

Hi there, for little Sophia (will turn 1` year old in two weeks) I have been offering her egg yolk as an ingredient in her pasta. She loves it.
I boil water, to make a broth, add a quarter veggie stock cube, add pastina (little pasta), when that's all cooked, I add the yolk and stir quickly with a fork, so that it cooks (take 30-50 secs to cook the yolk).....and that's it....it's a good, quick meal which she loves.
She hasn't developed any rashes, or reactions to it, thankfully.....the only yukky thing is the smell of egg on bibs etc, so a good two day soak in napisan tends to get rid of the smell and the egg stain....
Enjoy

I soft boil an egg, crack it open and then dip toast soldiers into the yolk. Spencer then gobs happily on an eggy soldier.
