About 4.00am Friday woke up with contractions, I thought they were only pre-labour ones so I took 2 panadole and went back to bed.

Woke again at 7.00am thought I would ring Ben to come home and help with Aaliyah cause I wasn't feeling the best. Had a :barf: and was having stronger contractions about 10 mins apart.

Ben was home at 7.45am, contractions were about 4mins apart, he suggested to ring hospital. After talking to them I ran a bath while Ben packed the car and organised the babysitter.

I took another 2 panadole and waddled into the bath. I had a really relaxing bath and done alot of breathing through contractions. By the time I got out Ben had everything under control and ready to go!!

Thought I would ring hospital to tell them we were on our way, then made a few more calls to family.

We left home at 10.30am (we live 40mins away from hospital).

The car ride was a nightmare, I was praying that there were no delays cause I felt the urgency to push. Half way there I was thinking to myself I want an epi can't handle this anymore (which must have been when I was in transition) 2kms from hospital I couldn't help myself and had a little push, the waters broke. We discussed which entrance to go to and decided emergency. We pulled up, Ben raced in, I opened my door and had another huge contraction. I was half hanging out the car when they came with a wheel chair. Couldn't sit on it properly due to head just sitting between my legs. We only just made it to the Birthcentre for me to pull my pants down, lean over the bed and push. His head came out, I waited till he turned himself then pushed again and he fell to the ground. I was horrafied that no-one caught him:eek: . I picked him straight up and really couldn't believe me eyes. Looked at Ben and he was crying. I delivered the placenta by myself, I think it was about an hour after birth. The cord was left to pulsate.

I'm so happy to have experienced a natural, non invasive labour. Lachlan is a very healthy baby and he feeds very well.
I feel like super woman  .
We only had a short stay I was able to go home Friday night but didn't. I wanted to stay because Lachlan had done a poo in his waters!! I hope it wasn't because of the castor oil  !!

Great work! My goodness what a story. I'm so glad he arrived safely. You most definitely are a superwoman IMO.

Welcome Lachlan!:smiliedance:

P.S. Leaving the cord to pulsate is when you don't clamp and cut it as soon as bub is delivered but instead wait until all of the blood stops pumping (it takes a few minutes). While you're waiting is a good time to have skin on skin cuddles with your bub. It makes sure bub gets all of the blood they're entitled to.
