i have been a member of bubhub for some years now and have been an egg donor ( which includes to 2 of our members) for 17yrs. I now have a large liver tumor which is not cancerous ( which should be great news)but growing at a steady rate - so far it is 16cm and leaning on a vein that leads to an artery near my heart. Due to the high risk of operating, no australian surgeon will help me so i had to look far and wide and eventually found my japanese surgeon who operates in Japan and Bangkok. We have had 2 operations that are unsuccessful so now i am looking to go back for even more dangerous surgery which involves injection radiation straight into the tumor and trying to remove it. If this doesnt work my liver will stop all normal function and a transplant is out of the question.
So i am appealing for anyone out there who knows where i can write to, airline wise to see if they may help me with perhaps comping me my flight or anything at all that may help. We are having to take out a loan to pay for the whole operation.
I AM NOT LOOKING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - only some recommendations on where i can write to ask for help.

please foreward any replies to : faithhaugh@hotmail.com

thanking all in advance

I'm sorry you're in such a terrible situation. I really have no ideas myself, but will keep having a think about it. Hopefully someone else has some advice! x

I'm sorry to hear that, *hugs* from a fellow fish.

I think your best bet would be to write to the media/PR departments of each airline, specifially virgin as Richard is known for his Charity. Qantas, Japanese Airlines or any that you know of that fly there and seek their assistance.

A seat on a flight is nothing in comparisson to assisting in possibly saving a life. Just a thought :)

omg - thank you for all your thoughts and support! i have been there for surgery twice and spent my last dollar doing so. The ******** at my supperannuation offices wont release any portion of my super despite letters from my specialist and surgeon - it just kills me that i dont want a hand out or charity i just want to use my money and they wont release it as the surgery will take place in another country. I did tell them that due to the high risk that no one in australia will help but they wont make allowances.
so now going to take your advice and start emailing those particular departments and see how i go.:hugs:

2 years ago i sent my scans to every liver surgeon in australia who all deemed surgery too risky so i had to look outside the square and eventually found a surgeon overseas. The first surgery was paid for by cashing in my long service leave, second surgery - well the superannuation people said no, even though my surgeon gave a letter of proof that if i didnt have surgery that i would end up dying and they still said no!! Now this surgery is about to happen from trying to sell just about everything we have as its more risky and invasive and costs twice the amount the others did. Can you imagine what its like to chat to your 22yr old daughter about dying and trying to remember all the advice she needs to know incase you are not around to help? Hoping that your 2yr old grandaughter will remember how much you loved her.
I just get angry with no one or nothing in particular that big companies seem to have no compassion at all especially when i provide proof that i have been a good person, asked for nothing, given everything and just need a small amount of luck. All the airlines have turned me down flat.

Sorry for the rant so early, people are in worse situations i know....i think i just need a big glass of wine ;)

But again thank you for all your suggestions and support - it really means alot.
