First up, check out www.ozclothnappies.org They have a really good run down of what modern cloth nappies are, explanations of the jargon and fabric types commonly used, and also info on making your own. There are also heaps of old threads here on BubHub which are worthwhile going through even though it may take some time :)

There are so many options available these days that you'll need to decide on the general things you are looking for and then people can give advice on specifics like brands etc.

Bel, I'm in a similar situation to you, but after asking questions on a thread not far below this one (questions for cloth mummas) and going through old threads, I have decided to get a 'trial pack' from Green Kids (pocket nappis that have a cover built into them) and some Bamboo Baby Beehinds with Tots Bots Covers. So that's two kinds of nappies, just a couple of each to sort out which I like best.

I'm still kinda confused... but it just takes time and some reading and you'll understand what it's all about soon... :fingerscrossed: for both of us!!

The starters pack from http://www.nurturenappies.com.au/
is good if you want to trial different styles.
:fingerscrossed: All the best!

I have a 2 year old 13 kg average size daughter (not chubby but not skinny) and she only just fits into green kids. I do use them on my 6 month old tho. I also have baby beeHinds hemp and they fit both of my children. During the day and for going out I am using nic naps all in ones. They are an excellent price and work better than the price would indicate. I also have swaddlebees all in one pockets and they are ok. Nice and trim. I can't give a real opinion on these yet as I am still breaking them in. At home I use normal flat nappies with a baby beehinds or bummis pul cover.
