Hi everyone! Just had a question.
I'm 20 weeks and was wondering what the average weight gain is for this stage of pregnancy? I'm not asking this because i'm worried about putting on weight! I just realised i haven't been weighed since week 7.
Being my first pregnancy i guess i just want to make sure everything is happening right!?
Thanks.

Hey
I NEVER got weighed at ANY of my check ups!
I gained 10kgs all up for my pregnancy and I think it was fairly evenly spread over the last 5 months.
I think the average is 10-15kgs but everyone is different!

Hi
In my first pregnancy they only weighed me when I asked.
I am now 28 weeks in my second pregnancy and I havent been weighed since week 12.
I think they only weigh you when you ask because they dont wont you to get worried and go on a diet if you put on too much weight which could be bad for the baby.

Not sure on the weighing issue. The hospital I am going too they aren't concerned about weight gain - as they believe its different for everyone. I think they just mentioned that in the first trimester you shouldn't actually gain much weight at all, and then from then onwards a rough estimate is 0 to 0.5 kg p/week.
They also mentioned that smaller built women are more likely to put on more weight then bigger women. I am at 35 weeks (nearly) and I have only put on about 5-6 kgs.

My OB told me that weight gain is only indicative of the weight the mother has gained and doesn't necessarily determine the weight of the baby, which is why they will do a physical exam by feeling your tummy to measure baby size and not just weigh the mother at all her check ups.
As others have said on average, women don't gain very much weight in the first trimester (some who have very bad morning sickness even lose weight!!), and most gain is in second and third and on average is 10-15kg. You just need to eat a well balanced diet and get exercise, the baby will take what he/she needs from you!!
Personally I was only weighed by my GP when my pregnancy was confirmed and not since (I weighed myself at home!) and I gained around 12kg with my first pregnancy!!

I hardly ever got weighed, I dont think its as necessary these days, they have other things they can do to make sure you and baby are ok eg ultrasounds, urine tests etc.
I gained a lot in my pregnancy but my baby was an average weight, so my weight gain meant absolutely nothing.

I still havent been weighed at any of my appointments either - not sure how much ive gained at all - though I dont think ive gained any real weight elsewhere apart the baby etc - a couple at work even thought i looked thinner in areas (though not my stomach :D )
