I couldn't help but notice that nobody's posted in the North Canberra section.
Where are all the Belconnen and Northside mums?
Holla back, y'all!:smiliedance:
I holla
West Belco Mama over here!
I'll be moving to Bruce from the UK in 5/6 weeks.... OMG can't believe it's only 5 weeks. We have been living in the UK for the past year and finally coming home. I lived in Brissy prior and know no one in Canberra so am keen to meet other mums. I have a 2.5 yr old son and a 5 month old daughter.

Hello
Am happy to meet up. Have a 3 yr old boy who would love to play. Also happy to give you the heads up on what to do in Canberra. It is a great place to raise kids, lots of great free activities (and lots you can pay for...) at the museums and libraries and paint and play in the park :)
Am off on holiday for 2 weeks but let us know when you arrive and want to arrange a catch up.

I'm happy to meet up as well!
My son's 20 months old, but he loves playing with older kids.
I'm home most of the week and I usually have some free time in the mornings for play dates and such.
I've only just moved to Belconnen a couple of months ago, but Canberra is a very kid friendly town. I still haven't made it to a Paint n' Play, though.
When/where is it, again?
Hi TwoandMum and roogrrrl and the other Northside mummies
I arrive into Canberra on 17th August, so give me a week or so to settle in and I'm in!!! Paint and Play sounds awesome.... I'm really looking forward to living in Canberra - it will be hard with all my family and friends in brissy, but can't be worse than being on the other side of the world.
Hope the weather is treating you all well.

Hi roogrrrl
Happy for you to meet up too! We will organise something when Shebes is settled.
Just back from 2 weeks in the sunny goldcoast which was a nice warm break :)
Paint and play details in the link below. We used to go to Ainslie on Wednesday's before I went back to work part time this year. It is very large, with lots of people and lots of activities. I don't know about the other ones but would imagine they would be good too..

Hi all - just bumping this thread to see if people are still interested in meeting up?
Shebes - how was the move? How are you settling in?

Hello to everyone and those who want to catch up!!
Still happy to catch up once Shebes is settled.
Hello Shebes, hope the move wasn't too stressful. Also hoping you arn't too cold!! Had a cold snap in Canberra the last week.
Anyone have any suggestions on where to meet?
I work part time so would love it if it was a Monday. Also have the car on Monday's so happy to travel a bit. Anyone not have transport? if so we may want to go close to you guys.
I will make a suggestion - the belconnen soccer club, awesome playground, coffee OK, nice and quiet until 4pm. Only good if it is outside weather though.
All suggestions welcome, any good coffee or playground places anyone can suggest?
punky, hope all is going well and not too sleep deprived, I can remember the early weeks/months so well :)
Well I have arrived and now somewhat settled into our new home.
Twoandmum - it's not too cold for us (we did come from the UK where it was this temp. during summer), although the rain was interesting while moving.
Unfortunately my DS developed a nasty flu on the move - he is on the mend now, but I wouldn't want to pass it on especially to those with new bubs. So maybe in a week or so for a meet up for us....
I am open to suggestions for locations as I have no idea where anything is, so will be good to get out and see what Canberra has to offer.
Anyone got suggestions for secondhand/cheap furniture??? After a dryer, dishwasher and some bar stools to complete our house.

Glad it's not too cold for you, I thought coming from summer.... But didn't know their summers were that cold
Also checkout Allclassifieds for just about every second hand thing for sale in Canberra. It is handy because you can ask for email pictures before you go and see things, especially in the case of bar stools. https://www.allclassifieds.com.au/
So we'll tentatively aim for Monday the 29th Aug for our inaugural Belco mums catch up :)
Everyone have any suggestions for a meeting place?

How about we do a Monday morning get together? would that be OK and give you enough time to get to work by 2pm... Don't want to have anyone miss out.
Hi everyone. Thought I'd pop in n say "hi" :) I'm west belconnen!!! Would love to joined you guys for a catch up but I work mon-wed :( maybe next time!!! Have fun mummies!!
Monday mornings are fine with me, but I'm available any day of the week :D Next week should be fine with me, however we are expecting the delivery of our air freight late this week/early next week so :fingerscrossed: it doesn't arrive monday.
Thanks Twoandmum RE: allclassifieds - have checked them out and will keep an eye out for the things we need.
Another question for all you Belco Mums... does anyone have a recommendation for a good local doctor for kids and women??? Preferably one that I can understand???
Hi all, I will need to give Monday a miss because I'm still not able to drive after caesarean and MIL is coming to stay. Hopefully next meetup I'll be able to make it.
Monday morning works for me!

I see Dr Lyn Thew at the Ginninderra medical centre at the top of belconnen. Her or Dr Barraclough are very good.

Hello all mums coming on Monday for a get together
I suggest we meet at the West Belconnen leagues club at Kippax. It has an indoor play centre and I was told Monday mornings would be very quiet so our DD's and DS's can play away :)
And if you need to do a shop or go to the library before or after you can :)
I thought about the belconnen soccer club but the playground is outside and a bit too cold yet...
If anyone would like to suggest anywhere else feel free.
Subject to that I will lock in this Monday 10.30am at the club and I can sign everyone in if you are not a member. Just come and ask for Teresa.
For Shebes who does not know her way around Canberra yet it is on the corner of Hardwick Crs and Flack st Holt. There are 2 clubs at the Kippax shopping centre and this is not the Magpies club.. It is the one near Woolies petrol...
So looking forward to meeting everyone!
Sounds like a plan! DS and I will be there.
:smiliedance:
I'll look up where it is I have to go and I shall see you all there on monday @ 10:30am.... How many are we expecting???

Hope you can make it! (or if there are any other suggestions please let us know, am happy to go wherever suits.)

Hello all
My turn for the family to get sick. I won't be able to make it tommorrow. Hope you all have a good time and hopefully see you next week :)
So sorry we couldn't make it, we all slept in (oops) - we had a big weekend. Let us know what is happening next week and we'll try and be there
Evening all,
Long time bubhub mum here, just haven't posted in a very long time. Most of the regular mums here stopped posting and set up a facebook group and I just forgot to check back in.
Originally from the UK, have lived in Australia for almost 5 years, spent 18 months in the Blue Mountains before moving to Canberra. We love it here, great place to raise children but I have to admit, I would love to see some other parts of Australia now.
Really keen to meet up and get together with some other mums, we don't get together as often as we used to and I am starting to get to the point where I want to get out more, especially being as the warmer weather is approaching.
I only have set plans on Friday mornings with play group, I tend to go to story time on Thursdays in Gungahlin but my other plans chop and change. Hope to meet up with you all and get to know you.
I have two daughters, our eldest turned 3 in July and our youngest turned 18 months in July. My mother in law was over visiting for 3 weeks so we are all feeling a little 'lost' at the moment so would be good to get out and about again. I do an awful lot with the girls, always have and I enjoy doing activities with them, so much so that even when we go to play centres, I don't sit down and chat with other mums, I am up running around with them.
Hope to meet some of you soon.
Jenna
Hi. We just moved to Canberra (Belconnen) from Canada a month ago. DS is 2 years and 2 months old. We would love to make some friends here. Unfortunately Monday meet-up doesn't work for us, but if anyone is free on Thursday or Friday mornings, we'd love to have a play date. We don't have a car just yet, so somewhere in the area would be great. Thanks!
Hello,
Not sure where about in Belconnen you are but we live in Dunlop. I tend to go to story time and a play group on those mornings but happy to meet up on a Thursday morning at some point. The girls won't mind missing story time one Thursday.
I do have a car so happy to drive somewhere closer to you, I don't tend to meet up at the shops for a drink just because the girls get bored sitting around but if you want to go to a park or play centre close by let me know and I can drive there.
Hope you are managing to settle in well, I have been in Canberra now for almost 4 years so if you need any help with anything let me know. Moved to Australia from England so not really a local either ;) know what it is like leaving everyone behind in another country and making that move.
Maybe catch up soon. Jenna
Thanks Jenna. How about next Thursday 9/22? I live not too far from Westfield. A play date in a park or play center sounds good. I don't really know where a good place might be though. Perhaps the mushroom playground or just the open area for kids to run around in the Belconnen market?
Janice.
Hi Janice,
That sounds good, I will make a note of it now otherwise I am bound to forget  My girls love kid city in Mitchell but that is a bit of a trek for you without a car.
They are happy to play at the mushroom play ground at the markets so that sounds fine. There is a nice park not far from the Westfield, think it is at Ginninderra Ponds but I can check that out if you prefer to go there. I am happy either way.
Got to dash now but I will message you later with my mobile number so we can make further plans there. If anyone else wants to join us on the 22nd Sept, then let us know.
Hope that any of you in the Gungahlin area are all safe and well after last nights fire/explosion.
Jenna
Awesome! Let's meet at the mushroom playground on Sept 22 @ 10am. Anyone else wanna join us?
Ok, looking forward to it. The girls love playing there so a good choice.
Hi all,
Any chance you are still doing the Monday morning meetup? My MIL has gone, yay, and I am going a little crazy at home with my 9 week old who doesn't like to sleep. Would be good to meet a few people off here.
I would love to say we could meet up but we are about to leave Canberra and move up to the Blue Mountains again. Not really sure how I feel about it but my husband has a new job and that kind of decides where we are going to be. Will really miss Canberra the mountains doesn't really have too much to offer.
Lahri - congrats to your DH on the new job. IS it long term or is there a chance of coming back to Canberra?
Punky - would love to catch up - Monday mornings work for us.
Anyone else interested in meeting up?
Mamacub thank you for that, unfortunately we are likely to be staying up in the mountains. Once our daughters start school we don't want to move them around, and my husband wants to stick with a job now for about 10 years just so we have some stability. He has had three jobs now since we arrived in Australia 5 years ago, two were with the same company but they moved us from the mountains down to Canberra and then his current job. Think this is it for us.

Hi ladies, im sorry i have been MIA for a while..... things have just been crazy the last few months! I would love to catch up soon! The markets or even the playground at the mall works great for me.
Would next Monday (7th November) suit anyone for catch up?
Hi Mamacub, I'd be up for a catch up on Monday.
Awesome! Do mornings work for you - maybe 10-10:30am? Happy to go either Markets or Mall - which ever is easier for you!!!
Scrap that - I can't make it tomorrow, we are getting our dishwasher delivered tomorrow, but have been given to time frame! Gotta love delivery people!
Hope to catch up soon.
