I love it. I have an Isaac Gabriel Cruz :) the only reason we didn't use it as a first name is because I didn't like Gabe as a nickname.
I love this name so much. My DH doesn't like it otherwise I would def use it for any future boys :)

Why would he get teased? Gabriel was a guardian arch angel, very tough!

Well a pretty obvious reason would be that they would play on the "gay" sounding bit of his name.
But you know what OP, kids will find something to tease no matter what. I mean for goodness sakes my name is Rebekah and I got Rebekah Pecker  so pffft. Plus for a teen/man Gabriel is just gorgeous (and hot haha).

My nephew is Gabrial.
At first I didn't like it but it has grown on me and suits the baby really well.
I think it is better as a middle name! :)
It's always been a favourite of mine. I love Gabe!

I love it! It's on our short list for a boy, but will probably miss out cos there's two names we love just a bit more, all of them biblical which is a bit  as neither of us are religious.
I wouldn't worry about choosing a name that is not 'tease worthy'. As LH said, kids will be kids no matter what. My name is almost impossible to rhyme with but I still got teased  and my son has what some would consider quite a 'girly' name. Personally, I love it and it suits him perfectly. that's all that matters.
LOVE 'Gabriel', but really dislike 'Gabe'. If only there were a way to stop people shortening names...! I think 'Gabriel' is a beautiful name.

I really like it for a boy. Went to school with a Gabriel (everyone called him Gabe, except the teachers and his mum).
Have a friend whose little boy is Gabriel - they don't call him Gabe. And it is pronounced gab ri el, not gay - briel. The el at the end is short, not an "elle" sound more "ill" sound.

I love the name Gabriel and I did consider it if dd was a boy.
Boys that have feminine names do get teased more. Even tho the feminine version is Gabrielle. Just like Robin Stacey or Kim.
Girls with boys names don't get teased as much.

I like it and I like Gabe for short but I quite like French names (and am half Belgian).
If you like/love it, go for it, boys will make nick names up over all sorts if weird reasons, not just names.

It's one of my fav names, naming your baby after the guardian angel is just perfect, I think anyway. Just a beautiful and meaningful name.
Thanks everyone. Its on the top of my list... now i just have to convince DF which maybe a little harder as we had Gabriella high on our If it was a Girl list. Mmm I always think of health ledger in the patriot when I hear the name Gabriel and thats selling me even more haha
Definately good for a boy, coming from Italian backgroubd it's a very common male name.

I love it! It was the top of our boy name list for ages, but DH ended up vetoing it because of the 'gay' thing :( even though he loved it too. We will probably use it as a middle name if we have a boy.
I agree with others though, kids will find something to tease anyway. I have a brother Ben, who was called 'Ben the big fat hen', which is stupid because he was neither fat nor feathered.

Love Gabriel, and I too think of Heath Ledger. (beautiful man!)
As it's been said, kids will come up with anything to tease each other about. My name is Merindah, but was often called Moerindah.

I once met a man at the park who had a boy called Gabriel, and I have to admit that I didn't realise it was a boys name and went on to ask him "How old is she?"...oops! He corrected me and then it clicked, and I suddenly remembered the actor, Gabriel Byrne. I do like the name, but would never use it myself, each to their own though.
