Hi there

With number two due in a few weeks, we bought a new E3 a month ago and have been using it for dd (16 months). Over this time, i've noticed that when the pram folds, there is a piece of metal that sticks into the canvas on the sides of the pram, creating a worn look in the canvas.

Today, however, when i unfolded the pram, the piece of metal has penetrated the canvas completely and torn a big hole in the fabric, right along the seam.

As you can imagine, I'm less than impressed! Particularly since I just looked up my warranty and it says it doesn't cover tears in the fabric. Surely this is a design fault and you wouldn't expect it to happen within a few weeks' use.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did you get a resolution from Phil & Teds??

That is really strange. I have had my Phil and Ted for well over a year now and havn't had that sort of problem at all. Perhaps you should go back to where you purchased it from though and just explain the situation to them and see what they say.;)

I have noticed a bit of a rip in mine aswell. I have had it for nearlly a year. I have also had to replace the elbows that the toddler seat clips on to twice.....

But I love the design of the pram. If you still have your reciept you should be able to get it replaced. Maybe contact Phil & Teds themselves?

Bit of a pain though eh.. especially at $650 a pop!!

I had a similar problem where the frame wore through the fabric because of the way it was folding after about 9 months - they replaced the whole seat free of charge when I took it into the shop I purchased it from. I didn't have the receipt but that didn't seem to be an issue. They have also replaced bent axles for me without charge - not the best constructed pram in the world but the set up is good!

Take it back and ask for a refund as obviously this is going to be an on going problem and you dont want it to keep happening. For that amount of money that is really poor quality. Best of luck.

.....I took the pram back to place of purchase today and they are going to request a replacement seat from Phil and Teds for us. :yelclap:

They said they haven't had the problem before and when they tried to see if it was a problem with the display models in store - the canvas seat doesn't rub in the same place. They seem to think that maybe my seat is stretched a bit tighter than normal or something.

Anyway, thanks for the replies. Hopefully Phil and Teds will happily fulfil the request and replace it for us.:fingerscrossed:
