Hi
We look to be moving to Rockhampton at the end of the year. Looking for tips on the best suburbs to live, and also any good advice on swim schools, gymnastics clubs, dance schools and gyms :smiliedance:
Thanks in advance x

My only tip (because I know so little about Rocky) would be to avoid Depot Hill. It was the main suburb to go under during the floods. If any part of Rocky floods Depot Hill will be flooded too.
Oh and if you don't mind a small commute I'd look at Yeppoon. Lovely area.

Thanks Chunky. I think the depot will be in Gracemere, which is a fair way from Yeppoon unfortunately. I wonder if Gracemere floods?
I agree with the Depot Hill, it's cheap cause it will get it's feet wet. Frenchville on Northside or The Range on Southside are probably the pick (unless you're looking for an acre - then head north along the highway). No bad suburbs really, just some bad neighbors. Depends what you're looking for.
Caribee is supposed to be a good swim school. Not sure on gymnastics. Vicki Davis Acamdeny of Dance would be my recommendation (partly because I know them, but because I do I know how qualified they are and how much heart and soul they put into everything). As for gym's, I'd wait til you got here and had a look at them all.

Thanks Nix :) That is great info about dance and swim schools. It is so hard moving somewhere so unfamiliar so tips like that help so much.
Are you able to give me some suburb names for the acreage? So I can look on real estate websites :)
None of the houses flood in Gracemere although it was cut from Rocky last floods. It should have it's own shopping centre by the end of the year, though most other services are in Rocky (15 min drive max). I live in Gracemere and it's really taking off housing wise.
If you go north there's Paramount Park, Glendale, Rocky View, Olive Estate, Glenlee, or could just say Parkhurst. There's some acres out in Gracemere, try Cherryfields Country Estate.

Ah yeah, SIL used to work in Gracemere. Like Nix said, it got isolated because of the floods but the houses were fine.
