So we've had a big fat whoopsie due to me being on some antibiotics and not being careful enough and I will be 5 weeks tomorrow.
Not the slightest bit planned and kinda crappy timing given we were going to sell our house and downsize in 2 months to be closer to DS1's school.
We were very blindsided at first but have decided to go ahead with things as best we can. Now I only found out last Thursday and only took my first vitamin tablet containing folate last nigh. Now I've just read on the net somewhere that unless you take folate in the first 4 weeks of pregnancy, it loses it's effects because the neural tube closes at 4 weeks.
I know I'm a big fat idiot for getting myself in this mess in the first place but I don't want to think that I've missed the boat on preventing any neural tube defects. DS1 is special needs and I can't put myself through having another SN child. Just FYI I did everything right with DS1, I took vitamins from the day we started TTC, I didn't eat deli meats, gave up caffeine, the full works.
Can anyone alleviate my fears?
