We just got back from an OS family holiday and 21 month old had a mild cough the whole time we were away but didnt phase her at all. She still slept like a dream and was co-operative. She was also on antibiotics to try and nudge it so it would get too bad in a foreign country.
However, we're home now and have been for almost a week and her cough isnt getting any better. Ive noticed a bit of a runny nose (no green boogers as yet). But just today, she became super frustratingly clingy and very destructive. She's had her finger in her mouth since yesterday and is drooling a bit along with very...very red cheeks. I checked her temp and she was 37.8 which is not too much to worry about.
So, kindly enough amidst the tantrums and whaling, she opened her mouth and let me have a look but i cant see any teething activity.
My instincts are telling me though that her 2 yr molars are on their way down because she isnt normally this clingy. She isnt normally this distructive and ive noticed that her cough is mainly at night when i lay her down which could be just her saliva overload setteling into the back of her throat.
What to do? I dont want to take her to the docs if she is just teething?!
But then again, id rather be sure that nothing else is the matter like an infection in her ear (She's refusing to lay down for nappy changes all of a sudden).
If she IS teething....God help me. If i wasnt so tired, id be able to write each stage of her teething past with great detail. I remember clearly the sleepless nights leaning up against her toy box with her in my arms fast asleep, my back sore, a new dawn approaching and my eyes feeling like the coarsest sandpaper you can find in Bunnings!
..........The joys of mother hood! Just when it was going really REALLY good for ages, more teeth come through...or something else.....

I would take her to the Dr just to be on the safe side.

I hope that she feels better soon.
