So DS has just been diagnosed with asthma, and while my partner did have severe asthma as a child I've never had it, nor has anyone in my family and so I'm a little bit unaware of what to do.
We're pretty lucky in the sense that he doesn't have bad attacks, he just gets really coughy and short of breath and responds well to ventolin.

However, being a little bit into organic and natural stuff, I was wondering if anyone who has a child with asthma or who has asthma themselves has any tips for natural methods that help them?

There are lots of additives that are known to react badly with asthma. For DH we cut out 120, 202, 220, 160b and some others, I'm not sure I have them written out on a card on my wallet. We've just switched our bathroom and cleaning products to all natural as the harsh chemicals can react with him as well.

Fish oil tablets. They aren't a quick fix but can do wonders for the bod & immunity as well as asthma. Has helped mine for yrs :)

Swimming too...it's an old one but have so many friends & fam who it improved & kept it that way well into adulthood from doing it as a child.

Good luck...it's an awful & scary at times thing to suffer from!!

I know that I have a friend who has had a lot of success with Buteyko breathing. It is a bit hard for kids though.

other than that it is about trying to identify the triggers and working out how to avoid them if you can.

:) I don't have asthma but a close friend did and she cut out milk/lactose as it is suppose to aggrevate it.

unfortunately the only main trigger that we've noticed is that he seems to get it when he's teething, so can't avoid that for now, but I've switched to all organic products in the bath etc. and will definitely look into the additives

this is probably a silly question but can you get fish oil for babies :helpme:
