Well, we need to get moving to have put rings made. I have a few questions.
If you had your rings made..
How long did it take? How much did it cost, and what does that cost include?
If you live in Perth, can you recommend anyone?

We have our own gold to have our rings made, so should be a bit cheaper not having to pay for gold.

Firstly congrats :smiliedance: Every jeweler will vary with time frame but a lot of places will prob work on anywhere from 2-6weeks depending on style. If the gold your using isn't of sentimental value than maybe best to see if the jeweler will give you a credit towards new rings as some places don't like to mix golds & there is always a little loss of weight in the melt down process. Also, you may find it will be more expensive for them to handmake the wedders instead of ordering machine made ones. If you have a special style in mind or if your engagement ring doesn't take a straight wedder it may need to be handmade anyway. I live in Brisbane so not sure of any jewelers close to you but I'd probably get a few separate quotes (a lot of places will price match) Price normally covers everything (gold, stones, labour) It's also a good idea to go with a style (both wedders) that can be resized at a later date if needed....some styles which are patterned all around are difficult to resize. It's a good idea to go back once rings are made to check finger size is ok (especially if your losing weight before wedding).

congrats!
we got a few quotes for a basic band to fit around on odd shaped engagement ring. they ranged from 500 to 700.
then we went to Wallace Bishop and the lovely guy at the chermside store made a gorgeous matching ring with white gold and diamonds to fit perfectly with the eng ring.
It took 5 weeks i think, and they had my eng ring the entire time ( i wore a big fake flashy one in the mean time) and cost 1000. i love it and have no regrets.
i would suggest getting a few quotes and feeling out a few places and go with your gut instinct on who to choose.

I have had two rings made.

1 an existing diamond ring reset in plantnium. It took about a month and cost me $5 grand. It was from a known jelweler business in Mel.

2. Plantinum wedding band with little diamonds, from a private jewleler in Mel. That was only $3 grand and took about two weeks.

If I had my time again would have got them both done at private guy, he was just as good but much cheaper cos he not a big brand.

I had my engagement ring and wedding ring, and DH's wedding ring made at Hardy Bros. in Brisbane City.

My engagement ring was $12,000 wedding ring was $2,500 and DH's wedding ring was $3000. However, the actual labour cost was around $250 each time from memory. They took 6 weeks.

We sat down together, and designed them, and they sketched it for us, and asked us about every little details. Couldn't be happier with the result.

Will be going back to Hardy Bros. for my eternity ring later in the year :) We are in Perth now, so will be going to Hardy Bros. in Perth.

Had my split wedder made with diamonds and pink sapphires right around and they were about $400. Check out the website and have a chat to Donna.
