Hi All
My beautiful DD is teething really badly and has been waking 3-6 times a night for the last week. No sign of the stupid teeth yet which is a bit crap but I am pretty sure it's teething coz she has 4 already and she is due for some more. She has a bit of a runny nose lately too but she hasn't got a cough at the moment so I haven't seen the Doc. Just today I was wiping a big smelly poo, as you do, and noticed some red blistery abrasions near her bumhole (sorry but I prefer to say bumhole to the "scientific" alternative). There is about 5 of them and they are really small but still, they must hurt.
Has anyone elses Bubs had this problem? Is it a teething thing? Her poos are nice and smooshy, not wet, so it can't be from straining. :(
GTG, She's Awake!
Peace

My son used to get a very sore red bottom around teething time - actually he was always prone to a red bottom! I used Desitin and it generally cleared it up between changes. If it doesn't go away with some basic treatment though ... go to the doc - it could be fungal. Good luck with your little cherub and may her sore bottom go away.

Sounds like the little toothypegs might be causing a bit of pain for your daughter. As supermum said, it could also be fungal. you can buy antifungal creams over the counter at the chemist ( i use canestin cream). It usually clears my daughters nappy rash up after about 2 days.

hope it gets better soon.

Get it checked to see if it's fungal. If so, you'll find plenty of appropriate creams for that. If it's just teething, I'd suggest try using chamomile wipes.

Make up a cup of chamomile tea, add a dash (less than a teaspoon) of any cold pressed oil (olive, sweet almond etc) or a squeeze of sorborlene and if the skin isn't broken, one drop of lavander essential oil. Wet your wipes in that to clean her bottom. If you're using disposables, you can substitute chux wipes or kitchen paper towelling.

A dusting of cornflour helps too. You can use just plain kitchen cornflour or buy the special Johnson and Johnson's or Gaia cornflour (they're just scented). Hope it settles down soon. Oh, and lots of nappy free time helps as well.
