Question about areola

I was just wondering about this - since DD was born (she is now 10 weeks) my areola on both boobs has faded to a light brown. During pregnancy it got darker and darker which I know is normal ... now it is going back to a normal colour again.

I am fully breast feeding my DD and my periods have not returned so is this colour change normal and supposed to happen? Just curious!

It is quite normal for the areola to darken during pg. I read once that it might help newborns to find the nipple (as they can se the contrasting colours better). If that is the case, now that your baby is no longer a new born and her eyesight is better and BFing established, you don't need dark nipples anymore :D
