Pinky Pig

Hi,
My new baby (6 days old) and I have a couple of questions regarding our feeding:
1) Baby feeds well but very slowly and always feeds himself to sleep which is making a routine very difficult. Is there anything we can do to change this or is this just the way the baby is? We have tried tickling neck, back, removing clothing but he always dozes off early in the feed (though he does have the full feed - often over half an hour on the one side).
2) Baby seems to be very sucky. At first I thought he was constantly hungry but have read a bit of info and now think he's sucking for comfort. He only seems able to sleep when at the breast and as soon as I take him off he wakes screaming trying to shove his hands in his mouth. I bought a dummy for him to suck but he doesn't like this. Do you have any suggestions? It's making settling and sleeping times a nightmare and is leading to a cycle of over-tiredness.
Thanks
