View Full Version : ultrasounds in canberra
hey ladies, I went and saw the midwife on wednesday and she informed me that my 20 week ultrasound was my last:thumbsdown: this annoyed DH and I very much. anyways I was wondering if there is a way of getting another? (DH is determined to get a confirmation on bub's sex.) And are 3D ultrasounds done in Canberra? I don't want to wait 18 weeks to see bub again and I really wanna start buying either 'pink' or 'blue'.

I had an ultrasound at 33 weeks, but that was only because my doctor was a bit worried that my placenta may have been a bit low. Otherwise I wouldn't have had another one.
You need a referral from a doctor to get one, so if you have a great GP perhaps you can ask him or her to give you a referral... they might help you out.

i just had what i thought would be my last too but the ladie that has done my last 2 u/s was quite hopless if i do say so myself and i was not happy she couldnt even get a clear pic and she was quite rough therefore i have to get another one later down the track! its a good thing but im worried it could be a bad thing... can too many u/s harm bub? and how many is too many?

i also heard that the 3d scans are done at the canberra hospital. hun if you want another scan all you have to do is go to your doctor and say something like you havnt felt the baby move very much and they will send you to canberra imaging for an us. good luck

It's hard to get a 3d ultrasound here unless there is a risk to your baby! Not fair I know! Can you ask your doc to refer you for another ultrasound? If your willing to pay I dont see what the problem is. P.s What does DH stand for? Im new to this..

Shanilee: DH = dear husband (dd- dear daughter etc), the acronyms can be a bit confusing and sometimes funny especially when bf can be either boyfriend or breastfeed (wouldn't want to mix the 2 up)
Anyway my OB has his own U/S machine and does a scan everytime I see him, so if you have private cover this could be a good way to go. If not, many GPs will oblige if you say you are really worried and feel a need to help bond with bubs. After all - you are paying for it. Good luck:)

Thanks PixieTrix, it sure can get confusing! I always thought BF was boyfriend or bestfriend!
