View Full Version : Arrghh poo everywhere!!!
Oh boy!
I left bub alone sitting up playing with his toys for a minute with a cushion behind him to catch him after the inevitable fall - whenever he's sick of sitting up he simply throws his hands up to say 'no more' and falls back, very trusting!
Anyway I trot back to pick him up and I find poo EVERYWHERE! It has shot straight up the back of his nappy - while he was sitting up, so all over his shorts, tshirt, skin and hair!! And then he fell back so its all over the cushion and the floor! Ewwww.
Now, the clean up is not so bad - one bath later, and a hot wash for the cushion cover and a scrub of the floor, he is soundly asleep.
BUT, I'm left to wonder...will this happen forever? I find that when he is sitting up, the back of his nappy gapes - you know, the old plumbers crack, you can see right down! No matter how tightly I fasten the nappy, there is always the gape.
Are there ANY disposable nappies that will not gape? Am I doomed to forever be cleaning up poo shot straight up the back? Quite frankly I'm surprised I haven't found any on the roof! :D
I found that the Woolworths/Safeway homebrand nappies didn't gape and tended to keep everything in. They are also very absorbant and hold there own against other more exy nappies.
There will always be a few times that you get the "must take a bath - now!" poo but as they go from a mainly liquid diet to one with more solids it will change a bit. My son is now 2 ½ and still has pretty liquid poo at times ... I wish he was a bit like his friends who are all at the "teflon poo" stage!
Anyway ... I recommend these nappies - give them a try!

Nicole,
I hope you are not offended but I found the mental image of your story so funny!! :D It reminded me of one of my DD poo episodes. She was about 4mths old and had just filled her nappy. I took her upstairs to change her and it was all going well. I had cleaned her bum and had bent down to get the fresh nappy from under the change table. Well at that moment I heard what can only be described as a rumble like I had never heard before... Before I could do anything she had shot the biggest poo straight at me  She shot that stuff from a lying position to about a metre away, most however was caught by my neck, chest and chin!!!!!!
All I could do was scream AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH to which DH come running up to find me covered in poo, he proceeded to burst into laughter, which is all I really could do too... DD just laid there as if nothing had happened.
All I can say is that as their diet becomes more solid so does the poo... until then happy cleaning!!!!
Cheers

Hi Nic,
OH, your story brings back memories! DD did a humungous poo like the one you described at my first ABA meeting - and I didn't have the 'luxury' of at least being at home to clean it up!! What a lovely way to spend your day!
As the other mums have said, the consistency of poo changes when your baby starts solids, so you have that to look forward to - it's so special in it's own way!!
It won't matter so much then what nappy you use either!
ps. I suggest you look very very closely at that ceiling!!
Thanks guys :)
We went from one extreme to the other today. That explosive liquidy episode this morning and this afternoon it was the shockingly solid one! Its just completely bizarre how different morning and night could be! Ah, this baby thing is just so much fun :D I really never thought I'd see the day poo could be so fascinating! heheh
As for the solids thing...he's been on solids for a few months now, but he's really gutsing it down the last few days - I guess we are gonna see more and more of the shockingly solid ones! I must say, I got a surprise when I saw that...
What a day! :D
Oh the joys.....!
Although I can't recommend a brand of nappy (I think it just comes down to body shape), I can make you feel better by sharing a story!
I had my first born in one of those slings on my front, the ones that go between their legs. Anyway, she was sleeping while I was doing a rushed shop. I had about 10 minutes to go when she woke & did THE MOST EXPLOSIVE poo I've ever seen so I rushed to the car only to discover that I'd taken the nappy bag out to refill but hadn't placed it back in the car! I had this screaming child in the parking lot with poo spread from her bum up to her chest at the front and up to her shoulders at the back & I just didn't know what to do! So I just put her in the capsule (still in the sling!), locked her up & drove home while she screamed and screamed and screamed. I've never forgotten the nappy bag again!
Oh, by the way, oxi-magic in warm water is great in removing poo from carpet (gets rid of smell & stain)!!
