View Full Version : Anyone else had HSG x-ray?
Well I had my appointment with the specialist yesterday and she thinks that dh and I are both ok. After my gp telling me that dh's swimmers may be the problem - I found out that he is supposed to have at least 20million - he has 220million ... (so now he thinks he's pretty kewl) and only some of them have reduced motility. So anyway she also thinks I am ovulating - because of my charts - but I am having another bt to make sure. So now I am booked in to have a HSG scan - which is where they pump dye into my fallopian tubes to make sure they are not blocked. Has anyone else had this done? I am feeling a bit nervous about it.
hi livy,
i had to have and HSG when dh and i were seeing our fertlity specialist. I was extremely nervous as well, but it wasn't too bad... Its alot like a papsmear, but a little more uncomfortable, because it takes a little longer. I had a really nice doctor ad nurse, and they talked to me during most of it which made it a lot less awkward. Luckily everything was fine. Good Luck!!!

Thank you! :)
I have been told that it's supposed to increase chances of conceiving straight after - so here's hoping :fingerscrossed:

I had this done about 18 months ago when we were getting checked to see why we couldn't get PG. They inserted a thing like spaghetti to put the dye in and it can cause AF like cramps, which is not very pleasant but bearable. They did an ultrasound first on my belly and then inside. It lasted about 10 mins I suppose? The good thing is that it's very thorough and conclusive and it's a big relief to know the outcome, so try not to worry.
I hope it all goes well :fingerscrossed:
Thanks Hels Bels ....... and I wish you all the best with your little man - he is due on Aust Day (one day after my b-day) what a great day to be born  Thanks again

 Livy
My sister had the HSG scan after she had some other troubles - it was when she and her DH wanted to start trying - in her case she had minor surgery done and then the HSG and her tubes were fine...it wasn't long after this that she conceived.
She felt really confidant having the test, and it wasn't uncomfortable or painful just a relief!!
I am hoping that it is the case for you also :hugs:
