'ello canberran mums
i'm a mum to a 14 month old, with another due in march! look forward to chatting to you guys
Hi Bubbalove......nice to meet you.
Are you a born canberran? I moved here a few years ago.....have a 1 year old daughter and hoping to try for #2 soon.....
hows your preg going?
look forward to chatting to you again....
Hi Canberra Mums,
Quick question for you ..... at what age did you babies first say a recognisable word?
The reason I ask is that my DS, at the very tender age of 4.5 months very clearly stated the word "MUM" when in the bath tub last night. I thought I had just imagine it but my DH was there and he heard it, too. :D
Can't believe that my DS's first ever word was Mum, especially when you hear of so many children saying Dad first. I'm just blown away with this. :D
Cheers for now,
Helen (very proud Mum of very clever DS). ;)

Hi Guys
No mumfo1, I wasn't born in Canberra, been living here for 3 years now. This pregnancy seems to be going so much faster than my last one! 15 weeks already! And no morning sickness like the last time either, thank goodness! Which has lead everyone to speculate that this one must be a girl. We are going to try and find out at the 18 week ultrasound, so I'll keep you posted :)
Welll, the sun is actually shining down here for a change, so I best go hang the washing out from undercover. The exciting lives we lead! Hope all are well.
Hi ladies....
HELEN - Its quite possible it was mum that you heard.....my friends son said da at about 5 months.....my daughter was 5.5mths when she said da.........thats very exciting isnt it - saying mum first!!!!
KERRI-ANN - Im glad to hear your preg is going well......time will fly by.....im getting so excited about trying for #2.......we are going to try the 'shettals (sp?) method' so we will see if we can conceive a boy.....but if i get another girl ill also be over the moon!!!! Ill just go back for #3 then!!!!!LOL!!! what hospital are you going to , to have bubs??i also just noticed your just round the corner to me....im at theodore.....do you take aiden to any playgroups? i go to one at gordon & calwell.....kara loves them.....
Well floriade is on this weekend.....are you guys going to have a look? I went a few years ago and it was beautiful.....i cant wait to go and have a look again......
im glad i can see 'green' when i look around my garden.....so used to seeing 'dirt'.....
have a great day

Hi Sam
I am having this bub at Calvary, as that's where I work, under Jakub Dreher (same as I did for Aidan). He's fantastic! One of the few 'younger' ob's in Canberra ;)
I don't go to any playgroups as of yet cause I just plain don't have the time! I am taking a few years off work after this bub is born, so I'll probably get organised then.
Hope all that 'trying' for another bub is keeping a smile on your face!
Talk soon
HI Kerri Ann,
I bet you enjoy your pregnancies then - if you have a 'young' ob......LOL! I hope your preg is still going well....no morning sickness would be a bonus! I didnt have any when i had my daughter - so i hope with #2 its the same!
Where abouts did you relocate from? Im from the Illawarra...born and breed there - absolutely loving canberra.....im soooo glad we moved here....i love the cold weather!
Have a nice day - im off for a cuppa while my cheeky chopps is snoozing!
Sam
PS Oh yes i have a HUGE smile on my face!!!!!

Hi Sam
We moved here form Newcastle, but we're not from there originally. Canberra is okaaay, but I desperatley miss the beach! And I'm not really into non-essential travel at the moment ;)
Which day does your little one go to playgroup? I'll have to start thinking about that cause Aidan won't be going to daycare once I finish work. Chat soon
Hi Kerri Ann. Hope you had a nice weekend. I kinda miss being closer to newcastle - we used to go to Port Stephens a fair bit...but we have not been since we moved here - adding another 3 hours onto the trip makes a long drive!
Kara and I go to Playgroup at Calwell on a monday morning and tuesday at gordon in the arvo. I dont know who enjoys it more - kara loves playing with other kids and doing crafty things....but i love my 'adult chats' and cuppas! When are you planning on finishing work?
Have a nice day....

Hey Sam
I'll be finishing work on the 16th December. Aidan will be nearly 18 months old then, so he might enjoy playgroup a bi tmore, I think he's a bit young for crafty things at the moment. And he's getting lots of interaction with other kids at daycare too, so he's not going mad being cooped up with me all day :)
How was that hail yesterday??? And now the sun is shining beautifully! Mad Canberra weather :) Talk soon
Hi, Kara isnt all that interested in the crafty things at playgroup either - probably in 6mths she might be.....she likes the interaction with other kids - as the other 5 days that we are not at playgroup - shes stuck with me!
I couldnt believe the hail - hubby and I took kara for a walk in the city - and to have a look at the kite festival and it was gorgeous weather - by the time we hit theodore the hail just came out of the blue! But of course it only rained cause i had left 4 loads of washing on the line!!!!!!! It was gorgeous again today - took kara for a walk to the park.....its nice over near you - where the ducks are.....do you go and feed the ducks?
cya for now

yep, the ducks are cool :) they are about a 2 minute walk from our house, and if you go down at the right time of day, there are often plenty of kangaroos around too. Who needs the zoo!

Hi Jillian
Welcome! So you were born and raised in Canberra? I'm still trying to get used to the place :) Hope all is well with you and yours, and hope to chat soon.
Hi there ladies, just thought id pop in to say 'hi'..... nice to meet you Jillian.....and kerri ann you must be enjoying the warmer weather now......im not! i love the cooler weather - today was nice....but i cant wait for winter to come back! At least the weather is a little better to go for nice walks - and go to feed the ducks...kara is loving it! And i think cause she is totally mobile now, she can run around the backyard in the grass! Its nice to see green grass everywhere isnt it! Anyway have a nice weekend

Yep, this weather is FANTASTIC! not having to wear long pants....being able to sit outside without 15 layers on... only thing is I'll be whinging when summer really hits and I'm 7 months preggers! Ah well, we can't have everything ;)
Aidan is going great guns, I'm sure he's had another growth spurt, and 2 new teeth! I thought their growth was supposed to slow down in their second year??? He's gonna be a big boy. ANd this pregnancy is going great too, having my 20 week ultrasound on Tuesday, hoping to find out teh sex! My mum is coming to this one, they live 8 hours away and she's so excited, she missed out on Aidan's.
Hope you are all well, talk soon
Hi Keri Ann.....how did you go with your ultrasound? Did you find out what your having? Thats nice that your mum was there with you.....makes it a bit more special! Im glad that your preg is going well....makes life a little easier! Kara and I have had a head cold over the past couple of weeks....just starting to clear up now! THANK GOD! How is Aidan coping with his new teeth that are coming through? Anyway off to get some sleep! Thank god Kara sleeps through the night.....
Cherio - have a nice week....

Hey :)
It's a girl!!! Yay!!! The ultrasound was wonderful, we ended up having the same sonographer as we did for Aidan's, and though she didn't remember me, it was nice :) Mum was so excited, she's never seen an ultrasound before, and as my brother and I are adopted, it was extra-special for her. We've settled on the name Jessamy, but we're keeping the middle name a secret :)
Glad are all well (and over your head colds!). While this rain is nice, some more warm weather wouldn't go astray... Aidan is all good with his teeth now (thank god!), but he always sleeps through the night unless someething is seriously wrong, so that's lovely :)
Talk soon
Oh Kerri Ann I bet your over the moon! Congratulations. :) Glad bubs is doing well....Did you get some photos of your 'jellybean'? That was really nice that your mum was able to be there for it, like you said - it was 'extra' special.....id like to take my mum and dad to my next one......when i get pregnant to have another one - LOL!!!! We'd like to try for a boy this time.....Jessamy is a gorgeous name - ive not heard of it before....cant wait til you tell us the middle name - guess we'll be waiting for a few more months yet!!! How long is your mum visiting for?
Im also glad Aidan is settling with his teething....makes life a little easier!
Mmmm i agree this rain is nice - but as long as it clears up for next tuesday - i have a stall at the Kids Capers Expo (ACT Playgroup Association) at Ainslee.....id hate it to be raining......its also going to be a HUGE step for me too.....my first day away from Kara - the longest ive ever left her is about 2-3hrs (and this was once!!!!!).....this is going to be for at least 5-6 hours......my parents are coming up from the coast to babysit for me......so at least ill have peice of mind that Kara will be in the 'best hands'...they adore her and she adores them!
I hope you enjoy your time with your mum while she is visiting....
Ciao for now:)

Hi Again
My Mum is down for a week or so yet, my brother had been living with us for the last couple of months and FINALLY found his own place to rent, so Mum is staying down for a while to help him settle in.
I'm thinking of cutting back from 3 days per week to 2 at work. I have an appointment with my doc on Monday, so I'll get him to write a letter...work is going to be soooo cranky! ;) Bad luck ;) I have to do what I think is best for me, this bub and my family.
Yep, we got some nice pictures of bubba at the ultrasound, some more to go in the book :)
Hope all is going well with trying for your next bub! ;) Talk soon
Hi Kerri Ann, I bet its been nice having your brother stay - but i bet your equally as happy to have him in his own place after having him there for a few months! :)With work - i was only working part time (5days - 4hrs pday) but because i was catching a bus to and from work - my hubby suggested i finish up work when i was about 26/27 weeks.....a bit of a whoos i am ! But i was able to continue some of the work from home which i did a few hours a week until about 35 weeks....but finishing up early was the BEST thing i ever did! Having alot of 'ME' time before kara arrived....it was nice. So dont feel bad - and definately do whats best for you and your family!
Well have a nice day. This weather is making me do more housework/spring cleaning!JOY!!!!:)

Hi All
Well I went to the doc again today, and he's writetn a letter for me saying that I am only to work 2 days per week - now I just have to get up the nerve to give it to my boss! My brother moves out on Wedneday, my brother-in-law goes home on Wednesday, and my Mum leaves on Ssaturday...it will be sooo nice having the house to ourselves again!
Talk soon
Hi Kerri Anne.....Well not long now til you have your house back to yourselves! So when do you think you will start your 2 days per week work? Wont be long til bubs is here :) How have you been feeling? Is bubs moving around?
I took Kara to feed the ducks today - it was a gorgeous day....then we went over to the toddlers park......and for the first time i let her climb up the stairs and come down the slippery dip herself....she loved it...and it was good to cause i got a really good pic of her coming down! I was just spewing that i found 3 big bits of glass just under the slippery dip.....Oh shes growing up so quickly!
Oh well have a nice weekend
:)

Hi Sam
Great weather! At least it means I won't have to water the garden :) It is absolute bliss to have the house back to ourselves, it seems like forever since we did!
Aidan loves slippery dips too, he seems to have no fear and just barrels down them head-first by himself! He uses his arms to slow himswelf down and stop, so at least he doesn't face plant in the dirt! I am a bit paraniod about broken glass and the likes in playgrounds too, it's really hard to see anything like that hidden in bark chips. I much prefer that rubber matting, like they have in some places at Point Hut park.
Jessamy is moving around heaps, Steve still hasn't been able to feel her move from the outside yet though. I will start my 2 days per week from not this week but next, they said it was something to do with pay periods or the like. I think that's a load of crap, so I'll just take sick leave :) Hey, I have a certificate!
Well, we have a few weeks of quiet and then the inlaws and all that side of the family are arriving for an early Xmas. So while Aidan is asleep, I'll go and make the most of this quiet and lie on the couch and watch some crappy daytime tv! Have a good one
